Need suggestion on N-400 Naturalization form Part-9 15.b question
I got my GC on July 2007 and renewed on July 2017 and will be expiring on 12/2027. Now I am going to apply for Citizenship and starting filling the online N-400 Naturalization form. In that form Part-9 15.b there is question "Have you Ever been arrested, citied, detained or confined by any law enforcement officer, military official (in the U.S. or elsewhere), or immigration official for any reason, or been charged with a crime or offense?"
For this question I am planning to answer "Yes" because
The reason was "On 02/09/2006, I was arrested in violation of CA Code 273d(a)PC Child Abuse. This charge was heard by the Superior Court of the State of California, county of Ventura on 04/04/2006. The complaint was discharged on the same day because the court found there was not sufficient evidence for the District Attorney to prosecute. [The above same reason was attached as an addendum to I-485 application when my I-485 application was filed on 2/2006.]. So I am planning to add the above reason in Part 14. Additional information section.
Also Part-9 15.b there is a table with below questions. I am planning to put these answers.
What was the crime or offense ? Arrested due to Child abuse (note: for this question i have enter very short answer due to no space available in online N-400 form).
Date of Crime or offense ? 02/09/2006
Date of Your Conviction or guilty plea ? N/A
Place of Crime or Offense ? Thousand Oaks, CA
What was the result or disposition of the arrest, or citation, or charge? Discharged by court
What was your sentence? N/A
My question are:
1) Shall I provide the above answer to those questions?
2) Do i have to submit any additional documents or proof when i submit the N-400 form online?
3) Will there be any complication come based on the above answers for those questions?
Thank you for your time & providing the suggestion!

Applying for n-400, almost 4 years since I received GC
Hi all! I am planning to apply n400 as I am coming up at almost 4 years since I received my GC. Just wanted to understand in general if now is a good time or should I wait? Also, has anyone traveled internationally for a short trip (multiple trips) after applying - if it doesnt affect your interview/appointment dates? Any recommendations in general for the application? I also have an almost 1 year old baby so I know that the birth certificate for baby should be added to the application. Any and all recommendations are welcome! Thank you so much!

Confused About My Citizenship Status — Need Guidance
Hi everyone, I’d like to share my situation because I’m honestly very confused about my current status and I really need some guidance.

My father became a U.S. citizen in 2006, when I was still a minor. In 2007, he filed an immigrant petition for me. I first entered the U.S. in July 2008 at the age of 13 and stayed with my father in his home until August 2008, then I returned to Ecuador.

During that short stay in the U.S., I received three documents in the mail: • A Green Card, • A U.S. passport, • And my Social Security number.

I left the U.S. in August 2008 using both my Ecuadorian and U.S. passports. I didn’t return to the U.S. until January 2022.

In August 2021, I renewed my U.S. passport at the U.S. Consulate in Guayaquil, Ecuador. When I went to pick it up, they asked me to step into a room where they administered an oath. It felt a bit unusual, but I didn’t ask much at the time.

Since January 2022, I’ve been living in the U.S. again and have traveled several times back to Ecuador to visit friends and family.

Earlier this year, while filing the I-130 petition for my wife, I also decided to apply for my Certificate of Citizenship (Form N-600) since I never had one. To my surprise, my application was denied in May because, according to USCIS, my father had already filed an N-600 for me back in January 2009. However, I never attended the interview or completed the process because I was living in Ecuador at the time, and my father never informed me about this application. Unfortunately, my parents had separated on very bad terms, which likely explains why this information was never communicated to me.

👉 My questions are: • Is there any way I can still obtain my Certificate of Citizenship? • What happens if USCIS requests this certificate as evidence for my wife’s I-130 petition? • Could I lose my citizenship because of this situation? • Has anyone gone through something similar or has advice on how to handle this?

I’ve done a lot of research, but honestly, I’m feeling overwhelmed and stressed about this. I would really appreciate any advice or guidance.

Make passport appointment ahead of N-400 Interview
Hi all,
For anyone who had passed the N-400 interview in Newark, NJ in 2024 / 2025

I am going to have my interview in Newark, NJ. I still do not have the interview date
I am planning to schedule my passport appointment to be conducted 2 days after the interview's date (crossing fingers to be approved and have same day oath ceremony)

- Is it true that in Newark, if you have you interview scheduled in the morning, it is almost 100% sure you are going to have same day oath ceremony?
- What about if interview is in the afternoon?
- Do you have to pay something to make the passport appointment?
- Are there any rules to cancel or re-schedule? In case I do not get same day oath ceremony
- Any Post Office with the fastest passport processing time you can recommend within the three states area (NJ, NY)

thank you in advance for any advise on this matter

Immigration Interview Update & Seeking Advice 🤔

I had my N-400 interview in March, and unfortunately, the officer was quite harsh 🙅‍♀️. During the interview, she questioned my son's paternity, which was really surprising and upsetting 😔. In the RFE letter, she further requested my divorce decree 🤯. Although the RFE didn't specifically ask for DNA proof, I proactively submitted it along with other supporting documents to strengthen my case 📝.

It's been two weeks since I submitted the additional documents, and I'm starting to feel a bit anxious 😬. Should I be worried about the status of my application? Has anyone else experienced something similar? Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated 🙏.

Thanks in advance for your help and support! 😊
