First of All "Thanks to
www.immihelp.com and THOSE WHO POSTED THEIR EXPERIENCES HERE"
Interview Date: 7th Nov'05
After getting the H1 approval around a month before appointment date i started going through the experiences in this site every weekend. My background,i was in US earlier on H1 4 years back and visited US on B1 2 years back.Has experience of almost 8 Years and I hold a Non-IT degree.
FIRST OF ALL DONT WORRY BY SEEING THE 221g postings here and I think hardly very few who got the stamping successfully post their experiences.
Here is My Interview details:
It was raining heavily in Chennai on that day and i was bit worried whether Consulate will open ot not.Consulate was not open 3 days before that because of heavy rains!!
At security:
*checked appointment letter and passports
*At Gate he checked all the bags to make sure we are not carrying any thing prohibited inside.
*once we entered the Gate again they checked the Bags and let us go in.
Immediately after entering, on left side a make shift Desk where VFS/TTS people are sitting. They asked for 441Rs/- DDs or Cash. I paid cash.
On Right side the first counter is written "CASHIER" and counters numbered from 2-5 are for Document Verification/Ordering. I paid the 4400Rs/- DDs in the "CASHIER" counter where she gave a Pink coupon with three parts. Then I was standing in Counter 5. After 3,4 minutes a person from Visa Building came and talked to the guy in Counter and asked all of Us standing the Verification Counters to follow him.I came to know later that when there are many people in this queues they take all of them inside for Document verification.
Once we entered inside at Counter number 13 the lady asked me for my I797 , I129 , DS156 for me and my wife , D157 for me and marriage certificate. She entered something in her system and placed all these documents in a folder and handed me back and asked me to go to Counter 8.
Counter 8 is for Finger prints where we have to place our left Index finger first after that Right index finger. whil standing in the Counter 8 queue attendent took one part of pink slip. These pink slips has a 3 digit number and while calling for Interview they will call with that number.
After giving finger prints we were asked to sit .we waited for almost 30 Mins and my number was called and i was asked to stand in queue infront of Counter 5. The queue in counter 5 has not moved a sinle inch as the VO took interview for a lady for almost 45 minutes for H1B!! There was a pretty lady standing infront of me complained to the attendent saying that our queue is not moving, while this lady was complaing VO observed that, I had a slight feeling that it might create problem for the Pretty lady as she has to face the VO for her H1,But it doent happen and the pretty lady got the H1 accepted in 3 minutes!!
After almost 1 Hr 25 Mins wait i was called by VO. I work for a Top MNC and i was displaying the Identity Card on my Chest just to make sure its clearly visible.
Here are the questions asked to me:
Me: Good after Noon Madam
VO: Hi
Me: Hi
VO: Is it a Fresh H1 ? ( I was on H1 earlier 4 yrs back)
Me: Yes Madam
VO: What position you have been offered?
Me : xxx
VO: Whats your Educational qualification?
Me : blah..blah ( I hold bachelors and Masters in NOn-IT)
VO: Can i see ur certificates?
Me: Handed over my certificates..she had gone through them carefully.
VO:How many years of experience you have?
Me: around xx Yrs
VO: All this in xx technology?
Me: Xx yrs in xx technology
VO: Are you working with YYYY company now?
Me: Yes
VO: Can i see ur experience letter?
Me: I had shown my offer letter and letter from my manager with the details of projects working.
In fact before handing over offer letter she was saying Visa is accepted and go and pay the fees,But since i took the offer letter also out she asked me is that Offer letter, I said yes. She took that and gone through it carefully. After that she asked me to go and pay the fees.
She asked only 2 questions to my wife for her H4:
VO: For How many years you are married?
my wife: xx Yrs
VO: You had been to US earlier?
my wife : Yes
Thats all. Overall the process was so smooth as i was able to visualize everything after going through so many experiences posted here and by making Documentation perfect.
I WISH YOU ALL SUCCESS.
