hii,
i have attended h1b visa interview at chennai on 3rd november 2005. i got form 221(g) . the VO said to me submit client letter regarding ur project description and project duration. This is my case.
I want to know about, how long will be validity of form 221(g). My employer told me, the client letter will send after three weeks only. So pls let me know, Whether any time duration for attending interview after getting 221(g) form.
In my new DS156 should I answer yes to the question 31. (has your visa ever been refused?)

Approval of H1 B in Delhi Visa office 3rd Nov
First of all thanks to the thread, had it not been this thread I would have been in trouble.
To begin with the procedure is the same as mentioned in many other enteries on this forum, so I would concentrate on the important aspects only.
The questions were
1. Job profile in the US
2. Size of the petitioner
3. Existing Job Profile
4. Marriage plans (Answer: not in near future)
5. and some other random questions which were similar to other interviews you would find on this forum)
IMPORTANT TIPS.
1. If you have an Indian Passport apply from India, because outside they cannot verify your docs and chances of rejection is higher, friend of a similar post got rejected from the UK.
2. Know your job profile and about your company properly.
3. Make sure you do not say that you will be working at the client site, say that you would be working in the office of your petitioner. Try and take a letter about this from your employer.
4. Dress up smartly, do wear a tie, if Visa Officer wears a tie then why shouldn't you, wear a dark trouser and a light clean and properly ironed shirt. It does make a lotta diff.
5. Be polite to the officer, say Thank you etc when required, it made a big diff in my interview.
6. Make sure your photograph is as per the instructions given on the form, I got a problem with that, and was alomost rejected, but Excuse of Diwali saved me.

These forums have helped me a lot and wanted to share my experience
Residing in the US, we are from chennai, Wife took H4 appointment for 7th year extension in New Delhi. She went alone to the interview (Baby stayed at hotel room). There is no confusion in this, it clearly says on the website. People Resident in the US (and can speak English) can take appiontment in ANY of the four consulates. Persons returning from work (H1) and need to go back immediately qualify for emergency appointment.
Document list is the same run-on-the-mill lists alerady published (I took as mentioned in immihelp.com) nothing more, nothing less. split in 3 sets of files
1. is the reqd ones (passport, application forms, I797, DDs) in 2 (payslips, employment letter, bank letter etc) in 3 (w2, 1040, wedd album)
VFS counter looked all docs and DDs and gave back PP, I797 stapled with Rs. 2200 Dd. Wife finger printed and waited. the interview
(not sure if pleasanteries were exchanged)
VO was bit old and not in that good a mood. the candidates before my wife had some issues (missing docs. or something) and they had also ticked her off.
In DS157, in Q9. I put NA
VO: you are already in the US, how come you put NA there...., she itself corrected.
VO: can i see your husbands last valid visa?
wife : showed the "last valid" visa
VO : Where is your hushand
wife : xxx state
vo : who is his employer
wife : yyy
vo : can i see the employer verification letter?
wife : showed it to her.
vo : so where is ur baby now
wife : in hotel with mom
vo : she is US citizen right?
wife : yes.
vo: you will get your visa in two days.
wife : i believe we can collect the PP by 3:00 PM
(its mentioned on the vfs site you can)
vo: you will get your visa in two days.
Thats it. we DID get the visa in 2 days.
Prepare the documentaion to the last detail. NO NEED TO WORRY. Be cool.

H1B visa - Approved
Hi Friends,
Firstly, I want to thank this website for helping me.. and maybe thousands of other H1B visa aspirants in preparing for the visa interview process.
Today, I attended the interview at the New Delhi embassy. From the scheduled time of appointment till the I actually reached the counter, it took 5 hours !! Yes, there is a heavy rush of people applying for various visas. I was told that today, the Delhi embassy had approx. 900 (nine hundred) applicants. And from the time you enter into the queue outside the embassy... till the time you reach the final interview counter, its a slow...slow.. process. I could find the very young and the very old getting extremely restless through the wait.
Anyway.. after all the arduous wait..I came upto to the interview counters. There were 3 counters that were simultaneously functioning. There was a man in one of them, an old lady (in her late 50's I guess) in the second, and a middle-aged (young!) lady in the third.
While I was waiting in the line, I could see that each of them were approving certain applications and rejecting a few too. The old lady seemed rather strict!! Though I had all papers in place, I was getting a little concerned of the prospect of facing her for my interview. Well, utlimately to allay my concerns :-), when my turn came, I was called by the "young" lady. And this is how the interview went:
Me: Good Afternoon Mam!
VO: Good Afternoon!Can I see you visa application papers please
Me: (Handed over the relevant papers to her)
VO: What would you be in the company?
Me: I handle YYYY functions
VO: How big is the company that you would be joining in the US?
Me: The company has __ people with US$____ turnover.
VO: Can I see your educational credentials please?
Me: Sure (handed over to her my highest educational qualification certificate)
She checked something on her computer for a few seconds and started writing something on the application.
Finally she gave the pink colored Visa application Fee slips back saying "Your application has been accepted. And you will receive your passports through courier".
Me: Mam, I understand that we can collect the passports from the counters in the evening by paying Rs.56/- ?
VO: You need to check that with vfs.
Me: Thank You Mam!
Well, all this took hardly 5-7 minutes. But, one important thing is that you need to be thoroughly prepared with all your documents... it should be 100% ready. Don't leave any lacunae. Carry all documents... and believe in God.

Response: From chennai consulate attended visa interview at Delhi

I appeared for H1B interview at Delhi consulate, and I belong to Chennai consular region. I was given a 221(g) refusal & was asked to appear at chennai consulate with further documentation.
However, not necessarily everyone who attends at Delhi (belonging to CHN) will get a refusal. Make sure you carry all the required documentation.
I've talked to few people who were from chennai, and attended at Delhi, their visa's were through.

VISA refused under 221(g) of INA at chennai consulate
I attended interview on 7th november at 11.45am.The interview transcripts is as below:
COUNTER 3:
VO: purpose of going to US.
ME: Employment and explore my career opp.
VO: show me ur I-729,I-129 papers
ME: showed the concerned documents
VO: to whom u r going to work in US
ME: xxxx client
VO:show me the exp certificate
ME:i gave my exp certificate.she went to the other officer and showed my exp letter and came back.
VO :show me ur university certificates
ME : I showed her my BCA and PG MS(IT) certificates.Again she took my PG certificate and showed to other VO officers.They dicussed and she came back.She told me that its not a PG degree it only a program we are not considering it.So You have only 15yrs of education(required 16yrs) and that too you have only 1½ yr exp (required 3 yrs).
VO : Sorry sir we connot issue VISA as u r not eligible.We will send back ur case to USCIS.
ME : Thank you.
This is what happened at the time of interview.So please advise me what i have to do now.I am in dilemma.

Hi,
This was really helpful. We got h1/h4 visa on 8th Nov. It was hardly 5 min discussion.
Just asked which company I will be working,what will be the pay, and which project I will be working and why leaving present job
that's all.
