H4 visa for my wife and daughter
Hello all.
I have been a regular reader of this site. After it helped me,i make it a point to answewr to as many queries and suggestions i can.It feels great to be of help.
My wife and kid are scheduled to come to the US soon.I need advice for the following :
1. They got an interview date of 25th Jan 2006,which is too long.Is there any way they can get an appointment earlier? Besides the emergemcy appointment method.
2. If any lady could describe her interview for the H4 with a brief document list, would really help.
I just want to make sure to avoid any future delays.
Thanks to all in advance and any questions regarding H1 or 221(g) are most welcome.
Have a Good one !!
Hitesh

Hello Everyone,

First I want to thank all the people who have posted their experiences. They helped me a lot. I am from a non IT degree with a little concentration in IT. I have attended H1B visa Interview at the US Embassy in London on the 2nd of November and I got it. All the process went on very smoothly.I just had an interview for 2 mins. The lady who interviewed me was very cooperative, infact all the staff were co-operative.

During my visit to the US embassy I have noticed some things that might be of help to you people. 1. First thing is your appearence. If you look professional, i think 50% of the work is done. I went there in a nice formal wear with a nice and decent tie. I don't think there is any need to wear a suit. If you have it already, then it's fine. You can wear it. Otherwise, don't bother to buy a suit.
2. Be confident in what ever you answer.
3. Give point to point answers.
4.Last but not the least, be polite to the officer and greet him/her with a warm smile on. For example: Hello, How are you today?

Also what I have noticed is, if you have got a good degree, a good current job and a good US employer, there should not be any problem. Relate your US job responsibilities to your current job and ur recent degree.

My conversation is as follows:

ME: Hello, How are you today?
VO: Smile... I am fine, thanks.
ME: Very Good.
VO: Could you tell me about your future responsibilities?
ME: xxxxx
VO: So do you write programs to do that?
ME: xxxxx
VO: Do you have any relevent work experience?
ME: Yes, I do.
VO: Where?
ME: In my current job in UK and in my previous work in India.
VO: Can I see the letter from your current employer?
ME: Yeah Sure...I pass it on to her.
VO: So what do you do actually?
ME: xxxxxx
VO: What did you do your Master's in?
ME: xxxx from The University of xxxxx. ( When I told her my university name, she raised her eyebrows. My university is among the top 5 universities in UK).
VO: I am issuing you with H1B. Pay the fee at counter 12 and come back to me.
ME: Thank you very much.
Paid the fee and came back to her.
ME: Here is the receipt.
VO: Thank you. Now you have to go to the courier services which is located in the waiting area and hand them your delivery address information.
ME: Thank you once again. Have a great day ahead.
VO: Smiles..... Thanks.

Thats it guys. Believe in god and be confident. Take all the documents. In my case, she didn't ask me any of the documents. But its better to take all the documents. It boosts your confidence. I wish all of you good luck.

H1-B Rejection
On Nov 3rd, i went to chennai consulate for H1-B stamping, my visa got rejected and consular kept my original I-797 and I-129. I wanted to know whether anybody got such type of situation, and how can you apply again if you don't have approval.

date for interview
there is the possibility that you could be directed to attend interview at Chennai, hence you may loose the valuable time, my suggestion is to apply to chennai itself. regarding the dates available, it is alarming esp in chennai, but I dont know how to go about it, right now there is no date available at all. I was having feeling that once VFS comes into play, the system will be more streamilned, but it is much worse. i am supposed to join on Nov 1 2005, I dont know what to do

Query - anybody attend at new delhi embossy through vfs but belongs to channai
Hi This is vijay sekhar currently working in Hyderabad from last 3 years on Java/J2EE.Previously I had book the web appointment through ttsvisas.com fro chennai consulate as I belong to that region. But due to some inevitable conditions I didn't attend that. As everybody knows the vfs system came into existance. But the earliest dates available for chennai consulate are beyond March 2006.So I had booked the appointment for new delhi embossy. But vfs call center people saying that you must stay/work there atleast from past 6 months. Moreover saying that most probably they will reject my application.

My query is - Is anybody from chennai region booked the slot for new delhi embossy through vfs.If then what is the result i.e.,Is the visa issuied or rejected or only the application is rejected?

help/suggestion/experience from persons, who met the above criteria is welcome.

Pleaze reply soon...
Bye......

221g
Hi Srini,

I too have experienced the same 221g in the year 2001 stating that my case had been suspended. I have waited quite long and on top of that I have sent couple of mails to US consulate at chennai but I havent received any acknowledgemet from consulate. I advise you to better send mail to consulate at KL requesting the procedure/guidelines regarding next course of action on your case. Hope it helps...

Best regards,
John
