Got H1B / H4 (NON IT)
I am a regular reader of www.immihelp.com. and I have experienced that VO asks some what same question.
This site gives great courage for visa interview.

I am from NON IT background with 5 years of experience.

I got H1B and h4 (spouse) on 27th oct at Delhi Consulate.

Here is my exp at Delhi consulate.

We got slot between 12:00 -12:15.

After security check we joined non - immigrant queue. After 30 mins, verified our passport, ds 156/157, drafts, they checked something in comp and gave back all documents with Rs 4400 slips for drafts.

Then we went inside after security check up and gave our index finger prints at one counter.

After submitting TTS draft i.e. 441 drafts we joined queue.

It was lunch time and only one VO was conducting interview and after 2 hours we went to counter no 12.

ME: Good After noon Madam
VO: Good after noon, how are you
ME: Fine

VO: Please give ur ds 156/157 passport
Then she looked at 156 form and checked something in computer

VO ; Is it direct or through company
VO: How long are you working for current company
VO: Where are you going to work in US?
VO what is your pay in US
VO what is your pay in current company
VO asked me to show company offer letter and higher degree. (Here I was expecting some more questions as I am from NON IT background). God helped me here a lot.

Then she asked 2 questions from my wife
VO: When u got married
VO: Show me your marriage certificate

My advice to all aspirants is

1) Go in full formal dress, it matters a lot, its better to wear tie. They look at the candidate first.

2) Also take appointment at your respective consulate, some times they reject candidate from other region, if the requirement for travel is not very urgent.

3) For all married aspirants, please accompany your spouse, they prefer it and it is plus point for you.

4) I have seen few candidates appearing at interview , they were bending too (bringing their mouth near to the slot) much while replying to question, I would like to advice you all that while replying to question , stand straight and look into the eyes of VO.

5) Most Important - Even my L1 and my wife's F1 was refused once and I was from NON IT background and was not carrying any letter from client for the project I am going to work , then also I didn’t face any problem , So keep Faith in God and be confident.

6) Give to the point answer, its better to write down all questions and do a rehearsal before appearing for interview.

If you have any question, [email protected]

Best of luck for all aspirants and happy Diwali.

Thanks
Gurinder

Succcessfull H1B
I am very thankful for the site in guiding me to get my visa stamped yesterday.

Qualification: BE Civil
Exp: 5 Years
My present company is filing my H1 papers.

My appointment time was between 2:00 PM and 2:15 PM.

I reached the consulate at 1:45 PM but the security guard asked me to stand in a queue, which was quiet big.
I entered inside the consulate at 2:30 PM.
After the security check...
We need to stand in the 1'st Queue to submit our TTS DD for 441 Rs.
Then the Counter 1 to submit our 4400 DD where they give us a green token with 3 same numbers on it.
Then they made me stand in another counter where they check and arrange our documents.
After this we will be taken to next building where they take our fingure prints,
once this is done they asked me to sit and wait till my token number was called.
After 20 min my token number was called and lady asked me to stand in 3'rd counter.

Here goes the conversation:

ME: Good Evening
VO: (Only a Smile)
I gave my folder to the officer.
VO: Since how long are u with this company
ME: 2 Years and 7 Months.
VO: Who’s is the client
ME: YYYY at Naperville, Illinois
VO: What is the project u will be working
ME: Gave an idea of what the project is all about.
VO: That’s very good..
(At this point VO was convinced and returned my file back but he checked something in the system)
VO: wait a moment...
VO: Can I see ur documents again
ME: (Gave the file back)
VO: What is ur qualification
ME: Bachelor of Engineering in Civil
VO: Then what are u doing in Computers
ME: Computer was always my area of Interest
VO: If so.. then why didn't u choose computers in ur Engineering
ME: I got my Engineering seat on merit and that time based on my merit, I had no other option.
VO: Can I see ur evaluation documents
ME: (Gave the documents)
Checked something in the evaluation docs...
VO: go and pay ur DD in the counter 1

That’s it...

So, guys don be disappointed if ur degree falls under NON IT category.
From my lil experience, I would advice u all to be confident in whatever u say and leave rest to the almighty.
All the best and wish you all a very Happy DIWALI.

Please contact me for any more details.

Proj letter (Answr to Sherwin's Qn)
Hi Sherwin:
The proj letter is asked by consulate mainly for recruitments made by IT staffing (also called 'body shopping') companies based in the USA. Most of these companies are owned by Indians settled in the USA. Consulate demands proj info to ensure that you have a ready assignment to work once you land there as otherwise these body shopping companies would find it difficult to pay salary to non-billable associates.
Hope this answers your qn,
Sankar
