Hi Guys n gals,
Before I share my experience, let me thank all those who posted their experience about their H1B. Guiding others. I feel its my turn to share my experience to all you guys.
My slot was at 1:30 - 1:45.
I reached the CHENNAI consulate by 1:00, they permitted me to enter the premises. You need to produce then Appointment letter and passport.
First you need to pay your 441 Rs Dd taken in favour of TT Services, Chennai or cash. where they give you the pink token. Which has 3 perforated strips with the same number on each strip. And thats the number they call you when ur turn comes.
After that I was directed to the Cashier counter, where I need to pay my 4400 Rs DD.
Then you would be guided to any of the remaining counters, where you need to produce the Documents. They will verify all documents and put them in order. And return the file.
Now you will be entering the Visa building. Once you enter you have to go for Counter 8/9 (dont rember exactly) where you need to give your index finger prints. First left index, then right index finger. Once this is done you will be taking a seat, waiting for your Card number to be called.
This is the time for you to reLAX AND COOL DOWN. iF REQUIRED USE THE RESTROOM....
then I was made to hop 4 queues, by the time i get my turn the visa officer woulf have closed the counter, or for someother reasons i was made to hop 4 lines. then they made me stand in the counter. I was waiting in the queues alone for 2hrs 11 mins. ;-) Then atlast i landed my fourth queue. There was a pretty young lady before me. I was speaking with her. She has come for L1. This was a good thing I done I guess. Know what I relaxed talking to that pretty lady.
When I was in the queue for 2 hrs I made some observations. The visa officer expect two things (1) a Genuine Documentation (2) And comlpete awareness of information (3) Able to aneswer the questions. Note your English may not be that good. But its OK the aneswers you give are more impt that the way you deliver. So for ppl who think you need to know good 'peter'English its not mandatory. If you have it its good.
