Got H1-B in Chennai on 15th Sep
Hello Friends,
Got my H1-B on 15th Sep in Chennai Consulate.
Here is what I did for this after my petition approval.

1) Keep searching for the dates in the www.ttsvisas.com for the consulate date everyday and got a empty slot in 15th Sep, just 3 days before.
2) Prepared all the docs listed below.
###########################################
1. A fully completed and signed Visa Application Form - DS-156
2. All male applicants between the ages of 16 and 45 must also submit a fully completed and signed Supplemental Application Form DS-157
3. One recent (within the past six months) passport size photograph, 50mm X 50mm with a white or off-white background. Click here for details.
4. I-797 -- the original notice of approval,
5. The complete I-129 petition submitted by your prospective employer including the Labor Condition Application
6. The originals of your university diplomas mark sheets and any certificates you may have. (Secondary school information is not required)
7. Letter from petitioning employer confirming employer's intent to hire the applicant
8. Your work experience letters from your previous employers
9. Some other training certificates
10. Demand draft for visa application fee.
11. Demand draft for visa issuance Fee.
12. Demand draft for Logistic service fee.
13. Pay slips from current or most recent place of employment
14. Names and current phone numbers of the personnel managers at the applicant's present and past jobs
15. Photographs of the inside and outside of current or most recent employer's place of business
16. Names and contact information of two co-workers from your current or most recent place of employment
17. Names and contact information of two co-workers from past jobs
18. A complete resume/bio-data and cover letter describing current job duties in detail
19. Personal bank records for the last six months
20. Tax returns for last three years
21. Photo Copies of All the above mentioned Documents.
###############################################
3) Book the flight ticket from Bangalore to Chennai in Air Deccan for the morning 7.00 am flight. As my interview was on 3.00 pm, I thought its better to keep some time in hand in case of flight delay. And thats what happened, my flight got reschedule for 11.00 am. Somehow I got to the consulate office by 12.30 pm.
One advice to all the guys, Please try to travel one day before and never ever use Air deccan, its their regular habit to reschedule the flights.

4) Read the visa appointment letter carefully and try to carry only ur docs with you to the consulate. No mobile phone, extra bags will be allowed inside. You need to pay Rs. 100/- to keep those things to a Tea stall if u carry them.

5) They will allow u to enter the office before 30 mins of ur appointment time. So be there on that time. They will check ur appointment and Passport to let u enter the building. Some more security check and scan will happen inside.

6) You r in. Get in the queue to pay ur Rs. 441/- draft to T.T. Services for ur visa to be sent back by post. They give u some green/pink colour crad.
7)Then in the counter 1, submit Rs. 4400/- draft and take the reciept.

8) Then ask the seurity where to stand in the queue.
9) Now its all queue and queue and wait. Whenever in doubt ask questions. After you get ur docs checked in some counter, you can enter the main building for visa interview.

10) Then ask the security and he will guide u for ur finger scan counter.

11) Here the person in the counter may ask you some question along with taking ur left and right hand finger print.

12) Now you have to wait there for approx 1-2 hrs to again get in the queue for final visa interview.

Now here is what happened with me:-
###########################################
1) Got to counter # 9 for my visa interview at 5.30 pm.
2) Lady consulate was really a nice person, I said hello to her, She replied Good afternoon,
I said Good afternoon.
3) Asked me to show my passport and form 156, Looked at them and asked me for my exp letter from previous employer and then my BTech Certificate. Then asked my petition docs and returned all of them and asked me to pay the Rs. 2200 /- at the counter #1.
One more thing, She said I will get my visa by post and I thanked her.

So I guess I explained all my exp in details to help all you guys.

Note:- keep ur returned journey only after 5-6 hrs of ur appointment time.

All the best.

-Sumit

Got my H1b
Hi Guys n gals,
Before I share my experience, let me thank all those who posted their experience about their H1B. Guiding others. I feel its my turn to share my experience to all you guys.

 My slot was at 1:30 - 1:45.
I reached the CHENNAI consulate by 1:00, they permitted me to enter the premises. You need to produce then Appointment letter and passport.
First you need to pay your 441 Rs Dd taken in favour of TT Services, Chennai or cash. where they give you the pink token. Which has 3 perforated strips with the same number on each strip. And thats the number they call you when ur turn comes.
After that I was directed to the Cashier counter, where I need to pay my 4400 Rs DD.
Then you would be guided to any of the remaining counters, where you need to produce the Documents. They will verify all documents and put them in order. And return the file.
Now you will be entering the Visa building. Once you enter you have to go for Counter 8/9 (dont rember exactly) where you need to give your index finger prints. First left index, then right index finger. Once this is done you will be taking a seat, waiting for your Card number to be called.
This is the time for you to reLAX AND COOL DOWN. iF REQUIRED USE THE RESTROOM....
then I was made to hop 4 queues, by the time i get my turn the visa officer woulf have closed the counter, or for someother reasons i was made to hop 4 lines. then they made me stand in the counter. I was waiting in the queues alone for 2hrs 11 mins. ;-) Then atlast i landed my fourth queue. There was a pretty young lady before me. I was speaking with her. She has come for L1. This was a good thing I done I guess. Know what I relaxed talking to that pretty lady.
When I was in the queue for 2 hrs I made some observations. The visa officer expect two things (1) a Genuine Documentation (2) And comlpete awareness of information (3) Able to aneswer the questions. Note your English may not be that good. But its OK the aneswers you give are more impt that the way you deliver. So for ppl who think you need to know good 'peter'English its not mandatory. If you have it its good.

 Then coming to my questions:
Some of my background info : I'm working for a well reputed software company, in bangalore. Mine is a direct H1b, bot via my present employer. i HAD TWO F1 VISA REJECTS in 2003.
(I dont remember the exact order)
1) was it direct or going via your Company?
2) Who interviewed you
3) name of the person who interviewed you
4) CEO name?
5) Company Size
6) where will you work in Clients place or in HQ
7) How did u get to know abt the job ?
8) Do you know any one working in that company
9) What will be your role in the project
10) Where do youi work now
11) How long you are working with this company
12) Can I see you offer letter (with current employer)
13) How many clients the company has? Names?

these r few questions i Remember fired to me.

I was working for a well reputed company, so it made it a bit smooth. And the Documents.

I observed few questions asked for other.
