Can we ask for a translator during the interview
What if, someone is having problem in understanding the interviewer's question, can he/she ask for a translator.

I have just had my H1-B Visa aproved after being deported for working and living ilegally in the USA on last year. Someone told me that the Visa is not a garantee I will enter the country due to the Homeland Security officer that will be making me questions and if I do not answer the questions correctly they will deport me. Is this true? What kind of questions are those? Is there any way I prepare myself for what they will require from me at the Customs? What do I have to know? Please help me? Thank you very much.

H4 ---> asked to go to Chennai consulate
Hi,
Got married in Dec 2004 and had to live to US immediately.Sent my wife to Mumbai US Consulate with all the papers, since my wife is from Goa.
She was asked to approach Chennai consulate since the principal applicant, (that is myself) is from Bangalore.We got this information after 3 months of wait time.The earliest appointment available in Chennai is in July.
Can I approach Delhi consulate and get her H4 faster ? Please advise....

Passport validity
Hi,
I've a valid H1-B till Sep 2007. But my passport expires during Oct 2006. I need to go India for my VISA stamping on May 31, 2005.
I cannot reapply for my indian passport before one year expiry as per the law(i.e. the latest i can apply for a new passport is that oct 2005).
How critical is the "validity of the passport for atleast 6 months beyond the intended stay"?
Are there any alternates?
Has anyone gone thru' this situation before?

Hi,
My H1B was refused at Mumbai Consulate due to some reason and i was asked to come anytime without prior appointment with following documents
1.) Original Offer letter from petitioner
2.) W2 forms and entry/exit dates of all the people employed by petitioner
Can anyone please tell me what this means ?
My petitioner said that this will take lot of time as this data is not readily available.
Any help will be highly appreciated.
Also by how much time I should go to consulate ?
Is there any period for going again ?
Awaiting a soonest reply.

In my passport it is written as deepthinallamothu int the column of surname.that means my total name has come int the surname column.and in the column of givennames it is blank.so recently i went to apply my marriage certificate and iam in abit of confussion what should i write in the marriage certificate form.and also iam applying for my H4 VISA.so what name should be written.in my 10th,inter,degree certificates it is written as deepthinallamothu.
so if there is any problem please inform meand share ur views with me.

I am asked to take interview appointment in chennai. Can I override there decision and take my interview in New Delhi consulate? If I do so will they question me why I opted to come to New Delhi? Please do give me your precious insights.

Tax paid for the last finanacial year.
I again appeared for interview after one month having all the desired documents. The councellor took all
the photocopies of my and company's documents and told me to wait for approval becuase Embassy requires
further time to varify the documents and for administration processing.
Please guide me how much time they will take to varify and to do all further processing. In this period
what they varify and how they varify the things and what is there administration processing. Are they
positive in my case or not or they want to keep my case pending. Please suggest what I should do.
Now 15 days have gone and I have not received any reply from Embassy.
