Overall Process was smooth. only documents taken are :

H1b interview
Hi All,

Today (30/jan) I went to H1B stamping in chennai embassy and below are questions asked to me.

1) Name of your US employer?
2) Name of the Client?
3) Are you going to work in client project or in-house project?
4) What is your salary in US?
5) Are you going to quit your current job and going to join the new employer in US?

After those questions he asked all the employer related documents and asked me to wait for a minute. He left the counter with my documents and came back in 2 minutes and told me that your visa is approved.

H1B Visa Interview @ Chennai Consulate
Hi All,
I have been reading the Visa experiences here on this website. Today I want to share my mixed experience that I had during this entire Visa process. I had my OFC interview scheduled on 29th January and the actual consulate interview scheduled today (30th Jan).

Visa Experience
----------------------

Once I had entered the Visa lobby where the interviews were going on, I was waiting for my token no to show up on the big screen. I had tons of thoughts going in my mind watching the middle aged VO's grilling other candidates for long time. I was trying to ignore that and keep myself aloof.
One Indian guy suddenly called up my number and he asked me to follow him.

The VO lady who took my interview was very young and I was quite relieved looking at her and considering other VO's .Here goes my interview:

Me: Good Morning Maam (Smiling)
VO: Hi Good Morning to you. Please give me your passport

I handed over the passport and kept other documents ready on the front panel.

VO: Who are you going to work for?. (Typing something)
Me: I will be working for my employer YYYY company.

VO: Who is your client?
Me: YYY Company. (Typing..)

VO: What will be your salary in the united states?
Me: I will be paid ZZZ $ per annum. she started typing something and later again asked me my salary. I said its ZZZ$ to be exact (me Smiling). She smiled.

VO: Is this the first time your going to United states?
Me: Yes Maam.

VO: So are you excited?.
Me: Yes Maam, I am having mixed feelings (Smiling).

VO: Smiled and Showed me the US rights pamphlet and said these are your rights and please go through it.

Just when she picked up the pamphlet, I knew what was coming and I was so happy,

VO: Your Visa is approved.
Me: Thank you So much Mam. Have a nice day ahead.

VO: Thank You (Smiled).

221g_Case Sent back to USCIS for Review
I attended visa interview on 7th october in chennai.VO asks some generic questions after that ask for project discription document.
I have 4 pages document and submitted the same.He is not satisfied with that.He ask me to wait in lobby.

After 1 hour Inidan VO called me started asking questions like Education qulaification,How would i know this oppurtunity....

After Indian VO ask me to go to first VO counter. They both discussed for a while, collected all my documents and issued 221G for additional administrative processing.
Didnt ask any additional documents

After that there is no update from consulate either to me or to my petitioner. In CEAC also no status change till date.

I called to customer care, sent mails but getting standard reply.

Usually when I check the status in CEAC I will check the status in USCIS also.Last week also my status is showing as petition is approved.

Again as a routine check I checked yesterday in CEAC (there is no status change) but in USCIS status is changed to review with below message.

"Department of State sent your case EAC14142 YYYY to uscis for review on 23rd Jan 2014" We are reviewing your case.Once it is approved we will update you.

Please help me with possibility of getting visa and is there any one with the same situation.

Thanks in advance.

h4 to f1 conversion visa interview
i transferred from h4 to f1 while in the usa and within a month of the approval i went for the stamping interview at hyderabad.
The interviewer seemed very curt and rude.
vo: can i have your documents ?
me: yes (i give her)
vo: check on computer and very rudely says .. SO you want to work???? <with a smirk on her face>
me: no mam. my husband has 3 years on his visa , we are the only children of our parents both sides, i want to study and come back.
vo: why this course?
me: i already completed one sem on h4 and i liked the course . its very informative. i got good grades too so i m doing well.
vo: why did u visit xyz countries.. looking at previous visa stamps on my passport.
me: as a tourist. on vacation
vo: how much does your husband earn?
me: xyz
vo: ok you will get an sms in 2-3 for pickup.

i was relieved to know my visa was approved, bcos the interviewer seemed as if she was sure i was applying for visa only to work. but that was not my intention. i wanted to join my professors research group which is why i wanted a conversion. the visa interviewers are pretty vexed at hyderabad maybe bcos many candidates are submitting wrong documents or lie. there was a couple before me and the man was applying for some kind of work visa. he dint know the name of the city in which his employer was. the interviewer was patient and asked thrice. the fourth time she was totally irritated and shouted that he should know that info. so you must be confident and answer with confidence to prove you are not going there to stay back and never come to india. you must clearly state your ties

221g for H4 in Hyderabad
Hi All,

My Husband (for H1B), me and my kids (for H4) applied together.
- Went to Fingerprinting on 22nd jan
- Interview on 23rd jan
-VO asked Questions to my Husband....Do u work at Client or In-House Project?, Salary?, Were u been in US earlier?
-Then he said that my Husband's and Kids (below 14 yrs) visa approved
-Coming to me, he asked whether i applied for any US visa. I replied YES
- Which Visa? I replied H1B.
-What is the status of that? I replied that they asked for some Docs 3 yrs back and my Employer submitted them. later i got mail that we cant give u visa now due to some reasons.
-VO told that my previous visa was rejected........which i didnt knew until then.
- VO also told that my Petitioner is not legal Company.
-He told that my Employer in India does not exist.
-After few minutes, he returned my Passport along with a White slip, mentioning a Case Number to be followed. Its a 221G slip.

---The Visa Status of all of us still shows Admin Process. It's been 3 days, ofcourse holidays.

I have questions, hoping i get answers here:
1) How do i follow up my case?
2) When can the status of our visas be updated?

Thanks

H1 Visa Renewal Dropbox IWP experience
Hi

First would like to thank the immihelp for providing the platform to share information which is valuable to many.
Also many thanks to user who have provide details on their experiences which has been very helpful.

I qualified for dropbox IWP for visa renewal . So submitted the documents on 01/15/14.at Visa Application Center You can walking from 10 a-4p. Need not required to stand in queue. Only documents that were accepted were as below.
(1) Passport
(2) DS 160 Application confirmation screen
(3) Dropbox confirmation letter
(4) I 797 Approval notice.
(5) Employer letter describing the roles and responsibilities. This letter was required due to subtle name change in employer from ABC Solutions to ABC US INC. Also had my employer cover roles and responsibilities , project details and brief on company information.

I insisted on submitting I 129 , LCA and other but they said not required for dropbox process.

Started tracking the status on ustraveldocs and ceac website from 01/16/14. By the end of 01/16 ceac status showed Admin processing. got little concerned thinking this could take long time to get through. 01/17 , 0/18, 01/19 were consulate holidays no status change. Status did not change on 01/20.

Checked the status on 01/21 morning in ceac website around 10:00 AM to "ISSUED". Took a breath of sigh of relief.
Passport was delivered by consulate to visa application center on 01/22. Collected the passport on 01/22 which had the visa. Took one week for the entire process but only 4 business days to get the passport back with the visa. One thing though was previous expired visa was marked with cancelled without prejudice.

Overall dropbox was a smooth experience. Fill DS 160 carefully with details and where required asking to explain like duties etc fill in the details to cover as much information in brief points.
Better to give one employer letter describing the roles and responsibilities , project details and brief on company information. If employer cannot provide petition support letter from employer should be sufficient.

Thanks all for sharing their experiences.
