H1B, H4 Visa

I had an L1-Blanket US VISA from my previous company and it was expired. From my current company, I went for B1 for training purpose.

Skipping the initial hello greetings...

She: I see the you work for 'xyz' (my current company). What is the purpose of your visit?
Me: Training purpose
She: I see in your passport that you have a L1-Blanket. (Then she realized that it was from my previous company). She immediately asked, why are you wearing 'xyz' tag?
Me: Now I work for 'xyz' company.
She: What is your current designation?
Me: I am a Technical Consultant in Software.
She: Is there any difference in the nature of job that you will be doing with a B1 than you would do with a L1?
Me: Yes Maam.
She: (I don't remember the exact question but it was something related to money)
Me: My company is sponsoring the whole travel.
She: Your VISA will come in a week
Me: Thank you. (Chapter close).

Both my ex-employer and current employer are reputed companies. So, I guess I had no issues.

Many people had opinion that since I am still single and 29 years old, there were chances of not getting the VISA. I guess it does not matter. I stayed for only 6 months in US previously with my L1. That gave a positive impression that I will return to my homeland.

Went for second time stamping with wife and kids.
One of my kid was 2yrs old US born. For US born kids you don't have to take any appointments, just carry the US passport and PIO card.

Interview:
1. When did you come from US
2. Is that child born in US
3. Whats the annual salary
4. Whats the designation
5. How long have you been with the current employer
6. Do you have only these kids

Other than our passports no other documents were asked. VO said passports will come in 7 working days.

I received 221g form for my H1. But VO forgot to specify casse number on that. I have to submit lot of documents along with 221g form. Is it create any problem because case number not mentioned?

Had received 221(G) form after attending my PA in august first week. VO asked
1) How long you have been with Employer?

2) What is your designation?

3) What is your salary ?

4) Where you will work?

5) Are you married?
 
6) Who is your client?

7) Do you have client letter now?

8) What is your assignment?
All these questions. After this she gave 221(G) stressing for stressing Cleint letter and asking bucnh of other documents(Agreement b/w employer and cleint,description about project,offer letter/salary letter).

I work in Employee-->Employer-->Cleint model.
Now the problems is I will not get any cleint letter per sure. What Should I do now ? Please suggest me alternative for this.

Where we were standing rejected 3 visa's before..so little tensed but i was more confident...

asked me to show the documents which i have ,i showed the documents which contain( i129,lca,paystub,w2-form,.)
and she just turned every thing and said ur visa approved ,u will get it in a weeks time and i received it on aug 12.

No questions to my wife and kid..

all of our visa appoved...be confident..Dont worry about other peoples visa getting rejected..

I went for the interview on 12th august. The first question they asked me is how long you have been with Yash

VO: How long have u been with ZZZ
Me: Its a new position that my friend referred me to

VO:What is your degree ?
Me: YYYY from YYY University

VO: Your I 129
ME: Gave him the I 129

VO: Give me the letter presentted to UICICS about your role and duties
Me: I got little baffled here, I presented them 2-3 documents and finally I found that letter to US CICS from xxx.

Me. Said sorry twice
VO : its OK

VO: browsing through the dcoument asked, "so it is (name as shown in your letter) project ?"
Me: yes

VO: show me the project document
Me. I showed him the print out saying I have some small documentation that company provided, and handed over the print out

VO: Read the document, looking at his computer screen, typing at the same time. Finally said, your Visa will be Couriered to you in a weeks time.

VO kept me passport, did not say if Visa is approved, did not give me any slip either.

I recieved my passport on 18 August 2011 with Visa stamped

I had my H1B stamping for the first time. It went well.

VO asked very basic questions.
What is the highest Qualification?
Did you read the white document regarding Rights?
What would be you Role in US?
Describe about your company.

He said i am approving your visa and you will get it within a week.

I received my passport in 2 working days. I collected it in person from VFS office.

Stamping H1b is one of the thrilling experience especially for the people who are going for the first time to the consulate.

My slot was 7.45 AM 10th wed 2011. so took a cab for the consulate. Reached there by 7.00 AM sharp. I could see the lots of people standing like a herd near the oxford. Then by around 7.15, the pppl who were waiting for the 7.30 slot were called, and the second queue was for 7.45 slot which was mine, there were around 80 ppl for these 2 slots. so i reached the counter, he asked me for the Interview confirmation letter, Passed it to the person in the counter. Then rechecked it in his system and gave me the token.

The i was frisked by the security personals there allowed me inside, again there were through frisking on my documents. i could see No MOBILES, PEN DRIVES, CD's were allowed. I would suggest to keep everything in home even wallet. Jus carry 500 rs in u r pocket. May be it would help to take photograph if necessary.

Then i went to first counter a indian lady who checked all my documents.

Dont worry abt anything u r token number will be displayed in the TV and you can move to the respective counters also there are embassy ppl who will be helping out there.

After my documents are checked, then moved to the second counter where my finger prints were scanned.

then i moved on the 2nd building for the main interview, Jus keep you eye on the TV so that u dont miss the number. I was waiting there for 10 mins then my number was called.

I went to the counter, the american lady was seems to be rough. She did not even bother to see jus called my token number.

Me : Good morning Mam
VO : No Answer

VO : After sometime Can you please pass on the documents
Me : Sure

VO : What is u r designation
Me : Answered

VO : Which place will you be heading
Me : Answered as per LCA

VO : Who is u r manager
Me : Answered

VO : Where does u r manager sits
Me : Answered

Now she went somewhere, had a chat with someone

VO : Again she asked , U r sittin in YYYY location and u r manager sits in YYYY location. How do u communicate

ME : I would have regular meeting, calls scheduled and stuff

VO : How do u get work from client
ME : Thru manager

VO : A pause for sometime and typing somethin in the system.
VO : Can you tell me what is u r managers roles and responsiblities

Me : Stunned with this type of question ... Jus bluntly said Project Management

VO : Can you brief it ???
Me : Wondering y she is asking me this but i answered what he would do in layman words.

VO : Again went for chat with someone
ME : Thinking that she would reject mine and cursing my luck !!!

VO : U r salary in India
Me : Answered

VO : U r salary in US
Me : Answered

Finally after this talks , she said am apporving u r Visa, will receive in 3-4 days.

My advice is to be confident wat u r answering and go thru u r petition document and other details.Dont bother about other ppl who is getting rejected.Their case may be different from u...

So ppl going for H1 from BEP, jus be confident of u r answers. Everything will be in u r way..Jus say ALL IS WELL.

Here is the dicsussion:

VO: Good Morning
Me: Good morning. Here are my documents.

VO: Whats your total exp.
Me: XYZ

VO: Whats the purpose of your visit
Me: ABC

VO: Do you have a client letter
Me: No. If requested I can get it from my client.

upon listening this, she (VO) took a blue sheet and ticking some thing on it

VO: Whom do u report in US? is he ur client?
Me: Mr. XYZ, he is an associate(my onsite manager) from my company working at the Client location

VO: Do you have an intermediate vendor or directly interact with the client
Me: No.

I thot this was the right time to get rid of the blue form and told that....
During my petition approval, I got an RFE, in tht I have submitted the SOW between my company n my client.
I wanted her to see that RFE docs where she can see that I had also submitted a client letter

As expected, after going thru the details of the Docs submitted fr RFE, she put the Blue form aside.
Man, it was such a relief.


VO: What is ur Age and are u married?
Me: XYZ. I m single

Expected a few mroe questions, but she said UR VISA IS APPROVED. u'll get in a weeks time.

ME: Thanks a lot.
VO: thanks. Have a good day

1) whos ur client?
2)Salary
3) Highest qualification?
4) Which place ur going?

Atlast she said ur passport will be couried to you.normally with in 2 days we can get our PP in VFS office. but i din get the same up to last friday (12th aug). now i need my passport very urgent for some perosnal reasons with or without visa......:( . can anybody have any idea to whom i need to contact? Please help me out.
