Chennai H1B interview on 5/20
Hi All,
I had my interview at 8.15 on Wednesday morning. I checked in and during the initial document check right at security, I had a couple of transcripts that were in sealed envelopes and I was asked to step outside and open them. Once I had done that, I was let back in. After that, went to the initial counters and then went on to get "ten-printed". Soon after, I was in line for my visa interview. This is my second stamping for H1B visa and my previous stamping was for a different employer. The actual interview was under a minute and very pleasant.
V.O: Good morning, how are you?
Myself: I am well. Thank you. How are you?
V.O: So what do you do for ZZZ?
Myself: I work as a ZZZ.
V.O: Is it a non profit organization?
Myself: Yes it is a registered non-profit organization.
V.O: What is your annual salary?
Myself: It is $X for the current fiscal year.
V.O: Can I see you last year's w-2 form?
Myself: Sure (handed it to him)
V.O: Sir, your visa has been approved, you will be receiving it within one week.
Myself: thank you, have a good one.

Got H1B Visa from Chennai Consulate
First of all, thanks a lot for all who have posted their experience here. This site really helped me a lot to do my paper work before appearing for interview. Here is my experience,

My interview was scheduled on May 13th at 9:45 AM, however my interview happend around 10:30 AM

Me: Good Morning Officer
VO: Good Morning, How r u doing? (Passed the documents)
Me: I am doing Good. Thank you. How about you? (Before completing, he asked the next question)
VO: How long you have been with YYYY company?
Me: Answered
VO: What you are going to do in US?
Me: Answered
VO: Who is your client?
Me: Answered (After this answer VO had taken up required documents with PP for approval and returned the other documents. However he had not informed about my visa approval)
VO: How long you have been working with YYYY (Client)?
Me: Answered
VO: what is your highest qualification?
Me: Master's Degree in Computer Application
VO: In which city, state you are going to work?
Me: Answered
VO: How much you are going earn in US?
Me: xxxxxx USD per annum
VO: Have you read the Phamplet there (it was sticket in the window)?
Me: Yes it is about right & protections for the temporary workers like me.
VO: (After 1 or 2 mins (i.e.) after typing something in his computer) Your visa has been approved you will be getting your PP in 5 days?
Me: Thanks a lot officer, have a nice day. (Left with huge smile)

Actually after 3rd question itself I knew my visa has been approved. However VO has asked all other questions related with the location (location, salary, and phamplet) to ensure everything is valid.

One important think I noticed here is if you are working for reputed company, client, and have good experience. No doubt in getting H1B visa, there would be few question for formallity.

In my case I am working for top tier MNC company, working for well know US client, and having very good experience with company & client (have been worked only for this company & client after my degree).

Got H1 Approved today from Kolkata
I got my H1 visa approved today from Kolkata consulate. Here are the questions asked:

1. Which Company?
2. Whats Your role?
3. What does the Company do?
4. Where is the company based?

My case is : Direct American Employer
F1 - OPT - H1 (Change of Status)

Advice: those who are working with a direct American employer, need not to worry about Visa stamping. Only those who are working for Indian consultants in E-C or E-V-C model would have to worry a bit as the Visa officer checks the validity of the petiton, if the employer is genuine or if the employer has office in India then why can't the job be done from India rather than going to USA and etc.

Good luck to everyone.

Thanks to this FORUM. I had been a regular reader of this FORUM and the posts so far.

H1b Visa Extension
Hi All,

Last Thursday(12/5) I have attended visa interview in Hyderabad consulate for extenstion of my existing H1b Visa. My appointment was at 8 am. It took around 1 hr to finish all procedures of getting all my docs which I submitted eralier in VFS office and collecting token for interview. I was the second person for that VO. He is pretty cool verified my docs and asked below questions:

1. How long are you working in US?( X+ years)
2. Which Company are you working for? (XYZ Company)
3. I transferred my visa so he looked at my previous visa and asked about my previous employer.
4. Are you working for any client? (No)
5. Can you show your W2 s? (I carried around 1 tonne of documents :-) )
6. Can you show your companie's letter to USCIS?

Finally he said, your visa is issued and you will receive your passport in 4 days.
Still I am waiting for my passport, I wish Good Luck for all.

Thanks...

I have gone through various experiences posted in this forum which helped me and its time to post mine too. I work for xyz company in US and came to India recently for H1B stamping. I am from Hyderabad and I attended interview in Chennai (due to my convinience). There were few questions asked by the VO.
1. Name of the company?
2. How long have I been working there?
3. Compensation ?
4. Location?
5. What does the company do?
6. Do you have LCA documents.

Then the VO asked if I read the booklet of H1B employee rights, and I said No. He gave me a small booklet to read and stated that my visa has been approved.

My appointment was scheduled at 9 AM and i stood in the line at 8 45 AM and found out that people standing ahead of me had appointment time at 9 30 AM. I asked security guard if i was late, He just gave an expression and spoke in Tamil, all I understood from his expression is that "It doesn't matter".
1. There was one young lady VO who was getting really mad on one H1B aspirant who was not answering her question "About working at client or vendor location"? He tried to evade that question for which she got mad. I think She issued a 221 G ( Please note i am not sure and it's my guess as that happened 4-5 counters away from where I was standing). There was one old couple for Tourist visa and she asked same question 3 times loudly and issued visa eventually.

I hope my post will be helpful.

Thanks.
