ds 160 filling querry
Hi,
I came to usa on H4 visa an year back.I had 4 years of experience. After 3 months a company hired me and filed for my h1b petition. While the change of status was being processed I had to travel back to India due
to emergency. That is why, My petition got approved
without change of status.I 797 said clearly that i need to travel back to my country and get the visa stamped before i start working here. So I am filling my DS 160. I have few doubts.

In the section
WORK / EDUCATION / TRAINING INFORMATION,
what do i need to fill primary occupation as?
should it be HOMEMAKER or COMPUTER PROGRAMMER?
Since my visa is not stamped yet and not started working I am thinking it to be Homemaker.
Since I have offer letter which states I am an employee should i write as computer programmer?
please suggest.
Thanks.

Hi,
I attended my H1b interview in Chennai on April 6th 2011. This was my first VISA interview to US.
US counsulate Question:
1) Who is your current employer?
2) Who is your client?
3) Which part of US are you traveling?
4) What is your highest qualification?
5) What is your current designation?

After these pretty simple question golend words... "Your VISA got approved" :) I gestured her with the bow and left the Counsulate.

Guys, No worries for H1B visa stamping... :)
All the best for the Rest:)

H1B/H4 approved on 7th April
Hi,
First of all I would like to thank all people who have posted their experience which helped me a lot for the preparation and eventually for getting the Visa.
I attended H1B/H4 visa interview along with my wife
Here are the questions that VO asked to me
1:How long you have been working with your current employee
2: What is your highest qualification
3: What will be your salary in US
4: Which location you will be travelling to in US
5: Who is your client
6: How long you have been working for this client
7; What is the project you are going to work in

To my wife:
1: How long have you been married

Once we answered all these questions she gave back the petition and took rest of the documents and told the golden words "YOUR VISA HAS BEEN APPROVED" and you will receive your passport within week time.

We said thank you and came back

My advice: Dress appropriately and answer confidently. H1B visa and going through fine, didn't see any rejections in that.

My H4 extension copy was not yet confirmed and so my husband's H1. But once I get my H4 extension letter when I am in India, can I go for my stamping to Hyd consulate. Does there any chance of my H4 getting rejected? Plz post your experience. I'll really appreciate your help.

Thank you

H1B Visa Approved @ Chennai on Mar 29 th
Thanks for all the people who posted their experiance in immihelp which helped me a lot.

Im working for a reputed US company as a Full timer.
Questions were simple.

VO: How you doing?
Me: Im doing good. Thanks.
VO: So what is your position in this company?
me : replied
vo: What is your highest degree?
me : Masters.
vo : Which university?
me : replied
vo : Which year you graduated?
me : replied
vo : Can you explain your roles and responsibilities in your company?
Vo: Ok. Your visa is approved and you would be getting your visa in a weeks time.
me : Thanks

Even people who are in E-C or E-V-C model were getting their visa approved, provided you have all the related documents properly furnished. As im a full timer only few questions were asked. People who are working in IT consulting firms, please carry your W2's , recent pay stubs, Client letter(try your best to get this if you can even though not many companies will be willing to give). Even if you dont have a client letter, prepare for the best answer that you can tell the visa officer of not having one. All they observe is how confident you are in answering their questions.

Dont think that Visa officers are strict people. They have been hired for approving visa for eligible candidates. All you have to prove them is that you are capable enough work in their country. So throw away your anxiety, fear, nervousness, panicking...etc. which are junk feelings. After all US needs you and you dont need them. You have to go with this attitude and im sure you will get the visa. Good luck !!
