H1 B Visa @ Hyderabad Consulate on 27th May 2009
Hi,

I have attended my H1B Visa interview @ Hyderabad Consulate on 27th May 2009. Following were the questions asked.

The ambiance at the Hyderabad consulate is real nice. After the initial screening of my documents I have been asked to wait for around 10-15 min. A computer generated token was handed over to me. This had the counter number printed on it.

Me: Good Morning
VO: Good Morning

Me: Handed the documents and waiting to give the finger prints
VO:Looks at my previous B1/B2 visa and asks me did you travel before to US
ME: YYYY YYYY X
VO: What all years you travelled and the period of stay during each visit
Me: I travelled X times and the period of stay was YYYY .
VO: Looks at my L1 Visa and says you have a valid L1, who was your employer then, and are you with the same employer now
Me: It was YYYY and I am no more with the same employer
VO: smiles and asks why did you quit so early and (My last B1 was in oct and I was on L1 since Nov )
Me: Well the project got done and I decided to move out
VO: She asks me about my current employer and the dates( when did I join him and when did I quit my previous employer) and where am I staying now.
Me: I said the dates and the place of stay.
VO: Give me your LCA.I 129 and offer letter.
Me: I gave each one at a time
VO: Do you have your pay stubs
Me: Handed over the current pay stubs and also my previous employers pay stubs..W2, tax returns.
VO: Checkc them all and asks for my qualification and degree certificates
Me : YYYY XX
VO: Checks them all and asks do you have any additional degree
Me : YYYY X
VO: Asks me are you paid now in your vacation
Me : YYYY X
VO:Finally asks me how long did I work for my previous employer
Me: 3.5 years
VO: Your visa is issued and would be sent by courier.

Make sure that you have all the needed paper work, as the consulate officer is making sure to check them all, also I have noticed the same thing happening in other counters with rest of the people.

Good Luck!!!

Think 'n' of times once you plan to come here.
Hi Friends,

First of all congrats for those who got Visas. And those who couldn't able to get Don't get disappointed. Life is not going to end by not getting Visa. In one way, who didn't get H1 Visas are lucky guys in this present situation, so that they will stick to their present jobs without another option.

Situation here is not favourable these days. SAP is having very less opportunities. dotNet is doing OK.

Quiting the current job and coming to US is a foolish thing to say in this situation. Best example is me itself, I worked for a top MNC in India for 5 yrs on different technologies and worked as team lead. I came here 3 months back and I am floating my resume I haven't got a single client interview yet. My resume contains all technlogies SAP, Java, Oracle with certifications as I worked on all this.

So, my friends think 'n' no.of.times before coming here.

Remember, this is only my suggestion, as I am facing the experience I am sharing with you. I don't have any intentions to stop you guys to come to USA. If you decided to come here...U r welcome to USA.

One more thing, the billing rates are also not good. Last year and before that they use to pay around $100 for an SAP guy. When it comes to from client to primary vendor and from primary vendor to employer and from employer to consultant it use to be around $50 - $60. (This is if you have only one layer). But now a days, SAP is getting only $50-$60 from primary vendor itself. So, not much money u can earn or save. I know we all come here to earn good money, but when the situation is like this, its better to stay back in India, so that atleast we will be close to family and india movies, food and can be as native people in India not as a foreigner or a third world guy.

Pardon me if I said any thing wrong and if my suggestions hurt anyones plans to come to US. I just shared my experience.

Thank you,
US Babu.
