H1B Admin Processing - Mumbai Consulate
VAC appointment: Dec 05, 2019
Visa Interview: Dec 06, 2019

At the end of my visa interview the VO said congratulations your visa is approved and kept my passport.
The VO didn't handed me any 221g slips nor asked for any additional documents.

At the time of interview the VO just asked about the company, job role and salary.

I'm regularly checking my visa status and its still in administrative processing.

Did anyone had a similar experience?

Please let me know.

Thanks

L-1B to H-1B consular processing visa interview
Hi Everyone,

Thought my experience may be helpful.

I was working for big product company in India. Went to their HQ in USA on L-1B visa. No clients involved. Worked at employer’s premises.

Switched job within same company and hence Job description and designation changed a lot. Company didn’t agree to keep them same though requested for visa.

Appeared for Interview at Hyderabad Consulate. As expected, visa officer asked about new job description, old work location and new work location and stressed on job description. Since my old and new work locations were same, heard the golden words.

Product Company, Work location same as employer’s and previous L-1B history made some impact.

Have fun!

H-1B Hyderabad Admin Processing
Fingerprints - December, 05
Interview - December, 06

First time change of status from F1-OPT to H1B

VO asked very basic questions, did not even check my I797-A

Questions :

1. What is your purpose of visit? --> To work for XYZ
2. I see you did your education from US --> Yeah I did my undergrad and masters both from the United States.
3. Which University?
4. What is your title? --> Software Developer
5. I see you have had valid visas previously ( I have had J1 and f1 visas previously which were lost when I lost my passport, explained him the same) There was a long pause after this question he kept looking at the screen and typing some stuff.

6. So how do you like this (Location)? --> I was not ready for this question- answered something like
"Its pretty nice, not many people, good places to hike and good craft beers", VO smiled and said, "I really like that place too!"

7. Whats your title again? --> Software Developer ( I saw him typing the same)
8. Location again? --> Told him and he typed the same

VO: Before it can be approved, we need to go through something called administrative processing, this slip explains the process (handed me a small white slip with 8 lines), and once it is done, you can read this (handed me the Know your rights booklet)

I saw him taking my Passport, placing a sticky note and writing 'SEVIS' and some number on it.

Me: Do you have any idea how long this is going to take?

VO: "Its all written on the slip, Thank you!" with a grin.

Me: "Thank you, have a nice day"

H1b-221g blue slip
Hi,

Consulate: Chennai
Visa Interview: 12/17/2019

VO asked basic questions about petitioner, salary, and education. VO asked for the client letter, as my client won't provide any client letters directly so I started explaining the same with supporting docs. But the VO was not convinced and still want's the client letter, so he gave me the 221g blue slip and my passport back. Anyone in the same situation? what will be the process and how long does it take, Please help.

Thanks.

From F1 to H1b-221g refused
Hi,

Consulate: HYD
Visa Interview: 12/17/2019

VO asked basic questions about role and salary and work location, at the end of interview, VO gave me a white slip that says 221g is refused and VO said my application needs to go through Administrative processing. Does anyone have similar experience or how long it takes for AP? VO retained my passport. I work directly for client.

Thanks
