In this week I had appeared for h1 and h4 visa interview along with my family (spouse and kid) at Mumbai consulate. Interview was at 8.15 am.
Visa officer was an American lady with good smiling face.
The interview went as follows:
Me: Good morning mam
VO: Good morning
(then she smiled at my baby boy
as he was crying at that time)
VO: please give me your pink tokens.
Me: gave 3 tokens
VO: what work is assigned to you in United States?
Me: said my designation
VO: how much they offered you?
Me: said my annual package
VO: whats your qualification?
Me: xyz
VO: where are you going to live? In which city of US you will be staying?
Me: answered
VO: currently working with ABC Company? (She was impressed with my current employer, as my current employer is a very big US based MNC)
Me: Yes Mam, currently working with ABC.
VO: (to my spouse) Sir, what are you doing here in India?
Spouse: answered.
VO: what are you planning to do in US?
Spouse: answered
.blah blah
VO: when you got married?
Spouse: answered
VO: how old is your child?
Spouse: answered.
VO: did you visit US earlier? (My spouse went to US in 2005 )
Spouse: answerd..so and so month and year.
VO: on which visa?
Spouse: answered
VO: do you have only one child?
We both : Yes.
VO: I am granting your visa you will receive your passport in 2 days.
The interview was very very smooth. I dint touch my folder, VO dint ask for any documents. In my entire interview, she was busy in typing something on her machine and was not bothered about my and my spouse answers. Somehow I felt from her body language that I am going to get visas. I think its predecided whether they want to grant you a visa or not after studying DS-156, 157 etc forms.
US consulate, Mumbai, people are very very cooperative. They give preference to the family interview with small child. My whole visa process (security check, finger print, VO interview) was of 30 minutes only
rest of the crowd was waiting for their turn for more than 1 hrs. But I was through with visa process in 30 minutes.
If you have good experience with big IT companies, higher qualification in computers and if your US employer is genuine, paying good IT returns etc. then I think no one can deny visa. Try to get as many docs as you can from ur US employer/ consultants. If you are carrying all required docs with you then your confidence will automatically boost up. Dont get hesitate to ask for all docs to ur employer/ consultant. Following docs are very very important:
a. Last 2-3 years IT returns
b. Wage unemployment report,
c. proj description (with proj timelines, no of Dev and QA, proj location, current phase of proj etc details)
d. US company photographs (inside and outside)
f. The contract copy between US employer and job site.
I have got one site address where you can see your employer/ consultants position. Details are available in different reports like, who are the top 20 H1 petitioner/ employer of 2005, 2006 etc, who are the top petitioner filer in 2005 , 2006 from particular state/city of US, Here is the site address:
http://www.myvisajobs.com/reports/ . I hope this will helpful to you.
Good Luck to all visa aspirants.
