Successful H1 stamping at Chennai Consulate!
Hello people,

thanks a lot for all your queries and for giving me timely help. regarding my previous mail, sorry, i do have all my originals, the VO took only my ds forms and passport. let me tell you my experience at the consulate.

My interview was on dec 8th at 10.45 a.m. i was there in the consulate by 9.45 a.m. first at the entrance, the security checked the interview appointment letter and then the passport and we were sent inside. then after the security check, we were asked to submit the DS 156, DS 157, I 129, I 797 and LCA and our passport. after that we were asked to go inside a room where all the interviews were taking place. we had to wait till our names were called out and the originals were handed over to us along with a pink color form stating the type of visa. then we were asked to join Counter 1 for fingerprint scanning and then we were asked to join the snake queue in the middle of the room. then i was led to counter number 7 where my interview took place. here is the interview details

VO called me
VO: Hi, Good morning, how are you doing?
Me: Im fine , Thankyou, good morning to you too
VO: Just a moment will be there with you (He was doing something over the computer)
(After few seconds)
VO: Please give me your documents and passport.
i handed over to him
VO: So, where are you going in the US?
Me: **** ****
VO: How did you find this job?
Me: I had posted my resume in many job portals, one such was dice.com, the company selected me through that.
VO: Do you like this job?
Me: Of course, I love my job as it is creative and colorful.
VO smiled and nodded.
VO: So, you are going to work for this company **** **** ***
Me: Yes
VO: Do you know this person, (My CEO) personally?
Me: No
VO: Can i see your tax papers?
i handed over to him and he was seeing that for more than two minutes.
VO: Is this your first job?
Me: Yes
VO: Can i see your degree certificates please?
i handed over to him.
VO: So, you finished your Masters this year 2006?
Me: Yes
VO: Were you a regular student?
Me: Yes

Then he checked something on the computer and then said, 'you are issued your visa, you will receive the passport within a week, have a good day'

Thats all. he took my DS forms and my passport and i felt like being in the cloud 9. i was so worried about the work experience part, but more than anything, confidence and the way you present yourself in the consulate is more important.

For ladies who are going to attend H1 interview, please be in western formal dress, i.e. formal pants and formal shirt. Carry your documents in a clear folder and present yourself with self confidence. that makes a difference. Good luck to those who are attending their interviews.

Hi All,

Thanks a lot to everybody, this sit helped me a lot.

Me: Good morning Sir
VO: Hello!
VO: What is ur qualification?
Me: B. Tech
VO: Is it B.Tech Mechanical?
Me: Yes
VO: Have you done any additional degrees?
Me: showed him my PGDCA certificate which was done in Private institute
VO: its not valid as this is not from recognized institutes
Me: I have done MCAD certification and I have got 6 yrs of Exp. in IT
VO: He asked me to show my exp. letters
Me: Showed him
VO: But he was doubtful about my exp... So he said these are not genuine, right?
Me: No... I have got genuine exp. only
VO: he said don't say lies... we will do verification... if we found that these are fake, then you will be caught by Police
Me: Told him that you can to do any kind of verification... I don't have any problem bcoz these are genuine
VO: Took all my qualification and exp. letters and gave them to one Indian lady who is sitting inside

After 1 hr Indian lady called me into a closed room n started again... This is the last chance for you to agree that these are fake. If we found our self that these are fake, you can not even get B1 from any other company

Me: No... These are all genuine and I am having appointment letters also. I showed her my appointment letters... she read the address of my first comp... n
Indian Lady: Asked me to tell some other comp names in the same building.
Me: I told her the other company names
Indian Lady: Asked me to go out and wait for some time

After 30 mins VO called me and asked me to show my offer letter from the employer
Me: Gave him my offer letter
VO: Asked me why did you opt for this employer?
Me: Said this is a very good comp and it is partner with Microsoft, Oracle... meanwhile he was doing something (I think he checked my employer)..

Finally I heard the golden words.... Ur visa got approved; you will receive your Passport within 3 working days

I suggest to all the people going to the interview to go with confidence and don't get panic if somebody visa gets reject.

All the best.

221 (g)
Hi All,

I was going through this site ahead of my interview date on December 8, 2006 for H1B. I
had Visa interview in Chennai on December 8, 2006. Visa was not stamped. Visa Officer handed out 221 (g) to me.

The Visa Officer (VO) has retained the following documents (received from my employer) with him:

1)I 797
2)I-129 Petition
3)Letter addressed to USCIS for the petition.
4)Evaluation of Training, Education and Experience along with profile of valuer.
5)Client letter.

Along with the above, the Visa Officer had also retained with him my Experience Certificate issued by my present employer.

At the end of the interview, the VO had handed out form 221 (g) to me marking against column “your application requires additional administrative processing before a final decision can be made. This office will contact you once this administrative processing is complete”.

A stamp stating “Application received” was put on the passport and returned it.

I do not have a clue on what will happen next. No clue as to how long the additional administrative process would take. No clue as to whether Consular office would return my I797, I-129 etc to me.

To give a brief on my back ground, I would introduce my self as a qualified chartered accountant with over 10- yaers ex[perience as a functional head of the accounts department with over 5 years of experience in implemenation of ERP project in the current Company. I donot have any masters degree. My apprehension is that the chartered accountancy qualificatuion is not equaivalent of US Bachelors Degree of 4 years. The experience of 5 years I had in ERP implementation was taken as equivalent of 1 year Bachelors and made it in 4 years by the Eduication Valuer.

I would be relieved if some body can through light on the outcome of my Visa Interview.

I suggest to all the people going to the interview to go with confidence and explain confidently for all the questions posed.

All the best.

Sudheer

H1B stamped from NewDelhi Embassy
Hi All,
First of all i should thankful to immihelp as it gives lot of confidence in preparing my visa interview.

I had visa interview last week in NewDelhi.
They didn't ask any docs except B.Tech degree and marks memo.
He asked me some Qs like why want to leave current job and what kind of role ur doing here etc.

What feel from my interview is how much confident you are with VO during interview not the no of documents you carried.

Regards,
Reeni

issued 221g
Hi friends, thanks to all who have shared their exp before in this site.
It has been long waiting for me to attend the interview, and the day had come on 7th dec to attend the interview but finally I got 221g asking for additional documents. But I am not worried, going to attend the interview as soon as I get documents from my petitioner.

Chennai consulate office is look like our Indian banks. Cool weather nothing to worry.
I am from a No.1 FMCG company has 2.5years of domain exp and 2 years of functional experience.

Most of the readers knew that there will be regular check of your documents, my advice to all you is that be there at least 30min at the consulate.

VO was a young lady and, when my term came to attend,

VO: Good morning
ME: Very good morning (with tension)
VO: What is your educational background?
ME: BSC Comp.
VO: I can have your certificate
ME: Yes Madam. (I observed that she was typing hall ticket number to find wheatear it is genuine certificate.)
VO: What project are you going to work?
Me: Balh Balh…
VO: Can I see your project service agreements.
ME: Given to her. (She was typing some thing in the computer)
VO: I can I see your Experience letters.
ME: Given to her. (At this moment I was very happy that, because I have given what ever documents she was asking.)
VO: where are the TAX PAPERS?
ME: Given to her
VO: Can I take your finger prints.
ME: At this moment I was really happy, I was under impression that she is going to issue me the VISA.
Finally she took a 221g blue colour paper, asking to submit employee wage 2 reports.

Be confident, it is not easy but once you reach there you will become automatically. Don’t get panic if somebody visa gets reject.

Any body wants any kind of suggestion, please post here.
All the best
