well, H4 visa interview is very simple, if you have all required documents.
First of all i am very much thankful to this site and all of you sharing your experiences.
Go to the consulate before 30mins and you feel confident by seeing different people with differen fellings.
on dec 6, i got the H1B stamping done.My appoint was at 10 Am, i have reached there at 9.30 AM and entered into the Q, after all formality checkups directly entered into the Visa lobby where people are waiting for interview(commonly after formal checkups they will take our documents and we need to wait for the folder which contains all our documents, becoz of heavy croud they opened 2 more counters in another building where interviews take place) there i have given my documents and waited in the lobby for the folder, after that security called me and given the folder and i stood in the Q for finger prints, after that i entered in the line for visa interview(commonly after finger prints they will give token for interview and they will call the token number)becoz of heavy croud they opened one more counter for visa interview and security guy send few people to this counter, luckly i was in that..here the VO is very cool guy but he looks very serious and he is approving Visa for all the people.
My conversation with the visa officer:
VO: Good morning sir
Me: very Good Morning sir and given the folder to him
VO: How did U find this job
Me: one of my friend working with this company
VO: How long
Me: for a 2 years
Vo: How long u r a programmer
Me: said my total experience
VO: show me ur certificates
Me: I have given all my certificates
VO: Show me ur experience letters
Me: given all my appointment and experience letters
He has seen five mins on my exp letters and given golden words that i approved ur visa...then i said thanks a lot.
I had a Visa appointment on 13th Oct 2006 at 12.30pm. I stood in the queue at 11am but was allowed to go in the bldg at 2.45pm.
I was waiting for my turn in the first building, after spending approximately 5 mins a representative came and said, "Sir, you are under BEP, so u r not required to wait in this queue, you can directly join the queue in the next building".
Joined the queue in the next building, after approximately two minutes, a representative announced from the top "Whoever carrying the BEP folders they can leave the queue and enter the building in 10 people together"
Followed his statement and entered the building along with other four applicants, we were stopped by two ladies inside the building asked us to handover the folders for varification and asked us to be sitted in the chairs, after approximately 10 mins one lady came back n called my name to collect the folder, then she directed me to stand in the queue where finger print scanning was going on. I stood in the queue for approximately 30mins, since the finger print scanning machine was under repair.
Immediately after the finger print scan, I went and sat in a chair with the intention of relaxing for sometime. After approximately 2 mins, I heard a voice in the speaker 'You gentleman, in white shirt can u please come over here?'
I went to the counter handed over the folder, while collecting the folder
VO: 'Gentleman, r u married?'
Me : No Sir, I am unmarried.
VO : Well, your Visa is approved, you may expect your passport after 3 days by courier.
As per the instructions after the interview I had to pay the courier charges but the DD was with VO
Me : Sir, DD is...
VO : Do not worry abt it, we will pay on behalf of you (with smile) you may leave now.
Me : Thank you sir, thanks for your time and have a nice weekend.
That's it.. very simple right ?
OBSERVATION:
I was observing the interviews going in other counters:
1. Have a smile on your face
2. Ask to repeat the question if you are not clear abt the same.
2. Give precise answers
3. Be honest, try not to bluff VO
4. Have your documents well organized
help needed ( was not given a 221g, neither was passport stamped)
Hello Everybody,
I had my stamping last week. I was asked 5 general questions , they were
which company ?
what is your role ?
What is your exp in current firm ?
What is your highest degree ?
Where would you work ( client or company base ) ?
After these questions, (The counsellor was a lady) she did not check any documents nor did ask for any, she told me she needs to do a Administratvie check/process and i shall be called after 3 weeks to produce the passport.she stamped a small US consulate stamp on the passport last sheet.I did ask her if she is looking for any documents ( i had all the documents that mattered) , but she repleid no its not about documents, it our Administrative process.
My case was not evern 45 seconds.
I am a little confused and worried as well , i was not given a 221g nor was i told i had insufficient documents. how would i keep track of my case ?
I have a degree from one of the prestigious college & i work for a Huge MNC( US MNC). Is that the reason she is not bothered to check my documents ?
It would be very helpfull, if somebody could answer or relate me to a similar case if any . Thank you very much.....
SAH....

Thanks for this site and all of you for sharing your experience.
On Oct 11, I got the H1B stamping done and on Dec 6th my wife and daughter got H4 stamping at Chennai consulate.
Questions for H1B:
1. Asked for the degree certificate.
2. How long I studied computer science during my professional course.
3. Am I going to work at client place?
4. What is the product & what does it do? (Since my answer to Q3 was, on company product not at client place.)
Questions fro H4B:
1. When did you get married?
2. Why you didn't come along with your husband?
4. When you are traveling to US?
5. Why you are not traveling with your husband? (since my wife's answer to Q4 was she will be traveling in May).
I want to share my observations here (which could of useful):
1. Organize all the documents before visiting the consulate. (check 2-3 times if required). I saw a couple at the consulate who came for H1B and some how both husband and wife had 'his' D-156 and their photo in it.
2. Be honest, no need to prepare any answer. But be aware and know yourself for the situation you will be in, this will help you in answering VO's questions.
3. Don't bluff any data; they have very sophisticated software to keep track of ones data. One might end up in problem in future.
4. be humble, the VOs just go by the data and facts.
5. If one is attending the visa along with kid, be near the security before exactly 15min of interview schedule. Otherwise try to be there 30-45min before.
6. Smile on face and greetings make VO (for any human) feels good.
Good luck for all those who are waiting for interview and thanks again for all who shared their experience.
