My experience
Hi All,

I have appeared on First Week of October at Mumbai & I got my visa.

My interview was scheduled at 10:00AM & I joined the queue outside consulate gate at 9:00AM. Around 10:00AM, I got in, where they checked passport, 2400 visa issuance DD, Interview letter with Hon'able consulate, first there was a security check, they will give you one wooden token, immediately after that you will be told to rush in, where they will ask for your original I797B & HDFC Receipt, they will give you one cover containing all details which you have already submitted before 5 days, from there on, you have to get in finger printing queue, where your index finger of left & right hand finger print will be taken. You will also have one pink slip on which there would be one token number, usually of 3 digits, now you need to wait in a sitting longue & wait for your Name or token number to be called. YOU MUST PAY ATTENTION TO THE ANNOUNCEMENT, as in my case all of the above mentioned procedure had happened too much quickly, & immediately after completing finger printing I got a call, I missed that announcement atleast thrice & the VO looked little angry on me when I appeared, due to this.

As I was late I was bit disturbed & was not concentrated on what was asked, but after initial 1-2 question mis-match I picked up right..

Initially I was asked which company had filed my petition, where I am going, then VO concentrated on details on DS156 & asked about my family member who is already in US, I replied with exact details known to me on that..(Pls. don't hide anything from VO, do provide fact & only fact.), VO asked me why you are going to different company other than the one your family member is working, I said I haven't applied for that company & I only applied for my petitioner company only. VO asked me some more questions like have I applied for any kind of visa before this, whether I was rejected anytime before this, Have I applied for visa to any other country other than US before this & other questions trying to find out my geniunness..
I was asked about some unknown person name, whether I knew him or not..as I was not knowing, I asked VO whether VO asked "xxxx" or not? then VO said okay. I was asked for engineering degree certificate ( pls. only provide what was asked, don't provide all semester marksheet if you are asked for degree certificate ), later on they checked degree certificate with a specific device & returned to me immediately. Then I had series of questions including what is my salary in $$$, where I was on particular date ( 4 years back ), did I had any vacation in between 2 job changes I had in past?, where exactly I am going? what will be my designation? who are my current employer? ....ALL this questions were asked almost breathlessly & immediate reply was expected from me..basically if you are true then & then you can provide them with correct details without second thought.

After completing this, I was told to that I will get my passport in couple of days..

VO was quiet cool & was really co-operative even though my initial mistake in interpreting the questions as I was little tense as I missed my call, they never appeared to have made their mind...Remember they are just trying to find out whether you are genuine, your company is genuine & your work experience, edu qualifications are good..if you have all this..then no need to worry. I carried almost ALL letters, documents which were menioned in this site, thought was just asked for my degree cert only.

My tips to the person going to appear in Mumbai..

1) Pls. don't carry any electronics gadgets, steplers, mobile, CD etc..as they are not allowed, you won't find assured place to put it, till the time you appear for the interview.
2) carry atleast 2-3 copy of your interview letter with Hon'able consulate & HDFC receipt.
3) carry seperate set of ALL zerox, incase if you are asked to submit the original & you want to retain original document.
4) Wear you best dress & be formal.
5) Be confident & DO PRAY A LOT, GOD WILL CERTAINLY HELP YOU.

Successful H1b Stamping @ Chennai Consulate on 10 October
Hi all,

First of all, I thank immhelp.com and all the members who had shared their experience. It was very helpful me to gather all the required information before my interview. Once again thanks to all.

Here is my interview experience.

My interview scheduled at Oct 10th 3:15 PM. But I reached @ their 2:10 PM itself. There was now Q. Security verified the appointment letter and my passport and asked me to go inside.

There were 6 queues. One VFS person came and asked me to join in counter No 1.Their I waited around 15 minutes. I had their very bad experience. In my passport my place of birth was mentioned as Chennai but I mentioned as trichy in DS-156. VFS person asked me which is your place of birth I said trichy. He asked but in your passport place of birth was mentioned as Chennai. I said sorry sir it is trichy only then he asked whether this passport is duplicate then I said sorry sir it is Chennai only I wrongly mentioned as trichy in DS-156. He was stared me and asked me to go to next building.

In the next building one VFS person asked me to stand in one queue. I joined in that queue around 2:30 PM. I don’t know whether it is only finger print or interview. I asked one lady what is this queue. She said I don’t know it looks both. There One consulate officer taken only finger print.

With finger print officer

VO : How are you sir?
Me : Good Afternoon and fine sir.

VO : Can you give your folder sir?
Me : Sure sir.

VO : Can you put your left finger
Me : put left index finger.

VO : Can you put your right finger
Me : put right index finger.

VO : Thank you sir and take your folder
Me : Thank you sir.

In 15 minutes finger print was completed. After that , One VFS person came and asked me to join in the counter 5 queue.

In counter 5 one smart VO officer aged below 30. He granted visa for almost all. I was very happy. I was waiting there nearly 10 minutes. My turn is next, that time one VFS person came asked me to go to next counter no 4. But my luck that officer asked me are you for H1-B. I said yes. He replied sorry sir I am handling only B visa. This time also I was happy and joined in the counter no 5. My turn….

With Visa Officer

VO : Hello sir
Me : Hello sir and Good afternoon

VO : Can you give me your green folder sir?
Me : Sure sir.

VO : Give me your MCA degree certificate?
Me : Ok sir.

VO : Ok sir your passport will be send to you in few days.
Me : Thank you sir.

I was surprised and got shocked. There was no question but he granted me…….Totally it took only 55 minutes.

So, please continuously read the forums before going to interview and read your entire visa document. All the best
