hi, is there anybody getting a h1b visa already after getting the form 221g?

how long does it takes? what is the waiting time?

i had the interview on 9 th jan,and got 221(g),VO told send client details by TTS drop box,do i need to fill DS 156 again,because already VO taken my ds 156 at that day,if any body got visa after getting 221 g.and one thing i VO taken my old passport he said we will send u r passport by courier,how to contact with them,please respond back.

I got 221 (g) at mumbai consulate on 20th Dec. I am MCA and having more than 3 yrs of relevant exp and working with TOP MNC at Mumbai.

My interview went like this

I : Good Morning Sir,
VO : Good Morning,

VO : Give me your passport, folder etc.
I : Gave it

VO : For which company r u going ?
i : ZZZ

VO : For how long the company is in the business ?
I : More than 7 yrs

VO : Give me appointment letter
i : gave it

At that time , VO start typing something in his computer and i was waiting for response from him. after 10 minutes, he asked me the web page of company, so i said www.xxx.com.

Then again he started to type something and he was going through my appointment letter.

After 10 min, he issue me 221(g) asking for tax returns of the last 3 yrs, W2 forms of all the employee in the company and the list of candidate who appeared at mumbai consulate.

I was surprised, he didn't ask me anything and issued me 221 (g),

Now, i am about to get all the documents from the company.

Anybody can help me regarding the procedure i have to follow for second time at mumbai consulate.

Thanks for the people who are posting their experiences in this site, it's very helpful. Now it's my turn to tell my experience at the consulate.

My interview was on 10tn Jan at 10.30AM. I am carrying all the documents which are required but I was not given the project details / client letter from my employer for which most of the people are getting 221(g).

The conversation with the VO was as follows :

(VO is a lady and she is looking very cool)
Me : Good Morning Officer
VO : (with a big smile) Good Morning, please give me your passport and visa documents
I passed the bunch (passport, DS-156, DS-157, H1 Approval, DD of 2300/-) and kept waiting.
VO : (opened my passport and first saw my L1 Stamping which was there before) How did you come to know about ZZZ?
Me : They have advertised in a job site,I posted my resume, then they have interviewed me and selected.
VO: (she was keep on typing something in the system and verifying my documents again and again) How long have you been with YYY?
Me : # years
VO: Do you have any relatives in US?
Me: No, I have no one in US
VO: YYYY company violates the labor law, how much are they paying you?
Me: ZZZ$ per annum
VO: Your visa is approved, have a nice trip...
Me: Thank you.

Guys, it's better to be in complete formals while going to the consulate, they give importance for your look also soem times. Be cool, clear and confident while answering the questions.

Plz try to take all the necessary documents. If you don't have some, don't show it on ur face infront of the VO. Nothing will happen, u can simply say that u will provide what ever they require...

I attended the interview on Jan '04. When the VO asked for the client letter. I gave him the contract letter that was signed between my employer and the client. The VO did not take it. He said he needed a client letter stating that I would be working on their project and then gave me a 221G. So NO CLIENT CONTRACTS, always take a client letter.

First of all thanks to all ppl who have posted their experiences in this site. it helped me a lot. Honestly, i didnt prepare for the interview. I just kept reading from this site about ppls experiences. and a day before, i planned the answers to all the expected questions.

now coming to my stamping. i am from south but got stamped in Delhi. No questions were asked about me coming to Delhi instead of Chennai.

My appt was at 1330 and i booked thro VFS. By 1300 the security allowed me into the line. By 1430 i got to the counter where we will have to give our documents and the VFS slips. Guys here please remember to only give the following. I gave all the documents and i got fired by the person inside the counter. So just give him

1.Passport
2.The yellow slip which contains two bar codes.
3.Appt letter.
4.I 797 only.
5.Issuance DD - Rs. 2300/-

He stapled all these and gave me back those documents. After going thro the the security check and the x ray scanner for my folder, i entered the main hall. I went to the right and joined a line. An old officer was sitting in the counter and taking the finger prints. After giving this, i went into the middle of the hall to join the main line. Please check for band NIV - red band and join the line.

there were 4 officers, two male and two female. I think they were all in good mood that day and they were issuing visas to all most everyone. I went with my spouse, so we were two in one appt. The guy before me was single and he went to the left most officer. the other counters were busy.

The officer in the left most counter was asking so many questions to the guy who was before me. he was checking his computer and asking him questions. By this time the counter beside him was free and the lady called me to come over to her. here is what the discussion we had.

VO : waved hand to symbolising to come to her.
ME : Walked to her straight and wished her.
      Good Afternoon ma'am.
VO : just a smile and wished me back.
VO : Saw a tag on my person ( i was wearing my id in which i am presently working. Just a reminder, i am going with my present employer to US ).
VO : Since how long are u working in YYYY ( present employer in India )
ME : Since date-month-year - exact date
VO : checking my I 797, what will u do in YYY company ( my employer who filed my h1).
ME : I am going to work for their internal project <name of the project>
VO : What is ur US salary.
ME : told her the exact figure in USD.
VO : (to my wife) R u recently married.
My wife : No, and she told the date.
VO: UR VISA HAS BEEN APPROVED. WE WILL MAIL UR PASSPORTS THRO COURIER. HAVE A NICE DAY.
ME : Thank you so much.

Left the building.

Remember: Guys, please be all ears while VO is talking to you. I couldnt hear to the first question properly and I answered something else. She was patient and repeated the question again. Its tough to hear them over the glass window and their mics wont work sometimes. U can always say sorry could you pls repeat the question. I was lucky in this sense. She had the goodness to repeat the question again.

Myself & my wife attended for H1B/H4 on Jan 09 at Chennai consulate. I was tracking this discussion forum for quite sometime.It really helped me interms of preparing for the interview,documents required etc.,

Me: Pushed inside the folder containing Passports/DS 156/DS157/I797C & I129 docs.
VO:Reviewed for a min
VO:Let me start with easy questions first and then move on to harder ones? ( I was really tensed when he said so...)
VO:When did you get married? (To my wife)
Wife: YYYY year
VO:ur wife's DOB? ( never expected this question all of sudden. confused?@# for a sec)
Me:Told correctly but slowly. (He didnt get it properly... probably thought that i would make a mistake here)
VO:Which company are you going to work for in USA?
Me: YYYY company
VO:Are you going to work for the employer or at the client site?
Me:Client site ( luckily my employer had sent me a contract order for the project i will be working on)
VO:Explain the project?
Me: detailed the project
VO:What's the client name/company?
Me: YYYY company
VO:Can you show me the document proof for that project you will be working with that client?
Me: Passed him the document which explained abt the project.
VO: Asked abt Degree Certificate?
Me: Showed
VO:Current company & Prior company appointment letter?
Me: Showed
VO:Marriage Photos
Me: Showed him around 15 photos.( My suggestion to you all dont show the entire album.VO might show his discomfort in seeing the entire album.Moreover there is a little space where you can push thru the entire album)
VO: Once again asked me which place in USA im gonna work.
Me:Told him YYYY place
VO: YYYY is a great place.
VO: Have a nice trip!!
VO:Go & pay the fees at the Counter# 1
Me & wife: Thank you.

More than any documents proof what i noticed is that we should be confident when we answer to any of his/her questions. Dont hesitate or give false information that might give a bad impression.

Hi,

Anybody can tell what are the documents we have to show in VFS for paying the fees and getting the receipt no,using which we are scheduling the interview. Now a days the calender of earlier dates is not accessable in the VFS site, any Idea?

first i thank this site for providing valuable information for people who are going to face the interview in the embassy.
I had the H1 B interview on jan 5th .and i got 221 G form asking for some project details etc.
do i need to fill the Ds-156 form again .because VO has taken my Ds156 form on that day.
