First of all i would like to thank this site which helps lot of aspirants to get all the info needed to attened for the interview....
I had recently got the H1-b in Chennaicounsolate after getting 221-g before.
Make sure you carry following doc before you go
1.client letter if you say you are going for a outsource company or SOW for in-house work from the companies attested with the company.This is 99% surely hit question to all the one going to interview"Who is your client and where is the client letter??many get 221-g at this stage if they would not provide this client letter..

got 221G-Additional Administrative Processing Reqd!
Hi,
Initially Dec 30th..
Postponed to Jan7th morning anytime in between 7.30 to 10.30 ,It was heavy crowded on the main road means outside the consulate only people are 200+ at morning 7am.
After entering consulate,
My Conversion went like this...
The Lady Consulate age around 30 is in Frustrated mood because before me one couple got rejected as she got some doubts on their marriage as she asked for them
how many people attended for their marriage, they told 15 people,then she is going here and there talking with so many people inside and gave them so many chances to
prove,but unable to convince her. After arguing and discussions she issued 221 g for them asking to bring big list related to Hosipital records,Marriage Photos even though they showed some photos),Project specific details.I thought thank god I am having my project details
Next Mine
I know she is in Mad mood ,trying to bring back to normal
Me : Hi Mam,How are you doing? with smile face.
VO: No smile ,fine
Me: Passed the green folder which was arrange in my previous counter.
VO: Looking and updating some thing in her computer.
VO: Which Project you are going to work in US?
Me : I told our product details and brief description
VO: Do you have project specific details?
Me: Yes ,Passed on the Project schedule ,Market Analysis, Technical Design
VO: This is what your employer Provided?
Me: Yes
VO: Who are the clients for this Product
Me: The Product is in development stage,It should be fully developed and launch into the market to get some clients.
VO: So there are no clients for this product?
Me: Instead of NO,I said we are targetting to some financial clients like FreddieMac,Fanny Mae etc etc.
VO: She issued blue paper within fraction of sec's saying this is the document your employer given to you, and passed my passport and DD back to me.
Me: Yes..I already dissapointed as she issued me 221g(Additional Administrative Processing Reqd) saying I dont have time to go through this 50 pages ,as so many people are waiting,I will get back to you once I go through this docs.
Me: As she already issued 221G so I passed the remaining Use Case docs to her.
VO: she said ok.
Me: If you need I can explain you some more details of the product.
VO: Not required.As I have to go through when I find time
Me: What I have to do Now
VO: You can leave for now,Consulte will get back to you.
But Still dont know what is happening at backend,Please let me know.If any of you faced this issue. What will be the next step etc?

221[g]-Additional Administrative Processing Reqd !
I have PA sheduled on 6th Jan 2006.
I went to Consulate around 9 AM.
Interview was went on like this.
1.Hi How are you ? GM !
2.when did you finished your degree?
3.Non - IT Background why do you go for Software job?
4.Show me your degree certificates.
5.Show me your experience certificates.
6.Are you going to work for Internal product or Client?
7.Show me the client letter.
8.what is your client do?
I have given my client letter to her.She could not able to find any info about my client, Finally she gave me 221[g] with Additional Administrative process required.
I think most of them are getting 221 g in Chennai Consulate.
Please any one face the same kind of sitution.Please reply to me.
Please go with client or product letter properly, with out this please do not go to the interview.

Got 221(G) & Attended But different Story
Yeah Friends, What happen is all big mess by VFS. All becose of VFS. VFS online appointment program made big mess and accepted lot of appointments on same day. That made really mad on Visa Officiers+Other Administrative people.
my home 10 mins walk from chennai US Embassy. When i asked Mr.X in usa Embassy, He gave explaination of Big mess by VFS.
Why I am telling this, on 4th jan, I have taken interview, It was heavy crowd. Most of the people they made stand outside from the main building(including me more than 45 mins).
My case was very simple to get VISA. I am carrying all documents + well established employer + MCA + Microsoft Certificatiion+current job in cmm5 level+Good Exps yrs+etc.
On 4th, I was appeared for the interview with all documents which they asked in 221(G).
I was on the queue nearly 25 people standing(its not possible but they made us to stand) + so many people are sitting on chairs to take interview + some people are standing outside to take interview just image the place how it was?,
Before me, 2 couple went for h1b. Just asked 4 to 5 questions and asked them to re-appear. Just taking 1 to 2 mins for an applicant. I can;t believe this. Last time when i appear, they taken 20 to 30 mins. Now just less than 2 mins.
For me, Only 30 Secs.I said How are you mam? she gave reply with Good and U have all documents what they asked in 221(G). I said YES. Thats all. Then she asked get me your Visa Fees DD. I gave and issued blue form stating that need time for some additional administrative process. I can't believe this but i am still digesting it.
2 days passed no reply. God, Whats happening.
Friends, Plz give reply whats actually happening in my case.
My kind advice is take all documents in proper manner. No time to search when they ask any document. be cool. take proper Folder. So, no chance of making irriate them.

Regarding Additional Processing
Mine is Different Scenario, I have attended first time on 23rd November at that time i recived 221(g) asking for Complete Project Description and current status,Time line and Marketing Analysis of the Project.
M Client Sent the Documents to my mail, I have taken printouts and went to chennai counsellate for second time, the VO is lady around 30 years old, in my project term is there, she asked about it, i cud not explain, but my project is not related to that term
BAA(Business Area Architecture),The VO asked to explain the project, i have explained but she did not listened any thing, gone through her computer for 10 mins and taken all my H1 Original Papers and returned Blue form regardign that my case needs some additional processing and it will take atleast 2 months time, i want to clarify that where i went wrong, taking printouts or not answering the term she asked

i thought i will share my experience at chennai on Jan 5th...my interview slot was at 10:15 am and after finishing all the formalities i was at the interview counter by 11:15 am...I crrently work for a big mnc and has been to US before couple of times...so I was hoping this would help me...I didnt hvae the full details of internal project that I will be working on in the US...this is how the interview went...
ME: GM, how are you today?
VO: fine, how are u?
VO: How long are you working for your present company?
ME: 2 years and 3 months
VO:How much exp you have in s/w development?
ME: 4 years
VO: Can I see your degree certs?
ME: showed them...
at this point i said to myself i am doing ok...and tried to keep a smiling face...:)

ME: I will be working in their s/w product development division. I will be working on product YYYY
at this point i have seen her taking the 221g form...I told her that i have the document describing my duties for next 12 months...asked her if she would like to see it...she took it and then said this is fine sir but what i am looking is details about the product and i need more information....I had some more documents but not on product but I didnt bother to show them since she has decided to give 221g....she asked me to put in drop box if its before jan 30 else come back for interview...
I would say if there is eough documentation its easy...if there is no documentation then you should have LUCK...:) I have sent a scanned copy to my employer and he said he will mail me the required docs soon...so hopefully they will suffice...
Now, if anyone can help me...she just took my DS156/157 and returned all my documents to me...when i use the drop box facitility, should i drop all my documents...should i fill up new DS156/157....most IMPORTANT...should i put my original degree certificates....I dont wnt to do that...let me know if anyone has done it...

For benefit of all I am posting some information whcih I am seeing in the forum quite often.
Incase of 221-g
1. If Visa officer asks you to send the documents through the DROP BOX, Just send the requested documents along with Passport/s and DD for Visa issuance ( 2300/-)
a) If the VO returns all your documents with 221-g you need to send all the documents no need to fillup the DS-156&DS-157 forms again
b) If VO keeps your fails and requested some documents then send those documents only with passport and DD
2. For H4 visa you can request for translator if your spouse is not able to speak english you can ask coordinators / Visa officer itself for translator. in embassy there are specific counters where there are translators with VO
3. You need to carry you KID / spouse along with you for H4 visa to embassy as you are making application for them also
4. For taking printouts for DS-156/DS-157 from you need to have confirmed appointment there is a link in VFs to retrive the confirmed appointments where these documents are stored in the PDF form
