Got H1 after 221(g)
Hi All,

I got h1 after 221(g). It was good experience.

They gave 221(g) for not having the client/project details. when i went second.

me : good morning how are you sir?
VO : smiled good morning i am fine.

VO: give me the folder.
VO: which project you will working?
Me : tried passing the document before telling the project name and details he did not take and asked me to explain before taking that.
VO: how many will be working in the project.
me : 9
VO: then he took the document which contained internal project details doing for xxx client. client had given the project details explaining that this project has given to yyy company where i will be working.
VO: who is the end client.
me: xxx

V0: give the tax returns of the company(i.e w2)

he was going through the document carefully.

VO : ok sir go and pay the fees in counter no 1.

Guys according to my exp if you don't have proper documents please don't go the consulate. VO's will be cool as long you are confident and with proper documents.

MY ADVICE don't go without client / internal project details. if they don't ask this questions i think you are the luckiest person.

guy's with other than computer science background prepare well for the interview. Infront of me one guy was asked to take the java test.

I thank the site and the guy's who have posted there experience.

My H1 Visa Experience
Thanks for all guyz who added their experiences out here, those really helped.

Before adding mine, I would say Just B KOOl.. its easy there.

I went to the Chennai Consulate 30 minutes early which is waste of time, they don't allow you inside early, you gotto stay outside, Thank God It wasn't raining that day, though it was raining all the time.

They allowed me inside before 5 minutes of my appointment,

1. Paid my fees at TTS Services, they gave me a Token Number
2. Went to the counters inside for initial check(Documents) one indian guy will check your documents.
3. He asked me Which company I am going to work for, I said #####, then he took documents from me and arranged it in a folder and gave it back to me and asked me to go and wait in the main lobby
4. Now I am in lobby where there are lots of people waiting for their turn for the interview with US Consulor.
5. After a long wait, they called my token number and asked me to stand at counter number 4.
6. Finally My turn came,

Officer: Hi
Me: Hello Officer

Officer: Can I have your documents
Me: I gave the I 197, Company documents, Passport

Officer: Which company are you working for.
Me: ######

Officer: You are leaving a Big Company and going for a small company
Me: Going for a Developing Company

Officer: Smiled, n said, Ok is it the first time you are going?
Me: Yes

Officer: So you are Engineer? Can I see your credentials.
Me: Sure, I gave the docs

Officer: He checked the documents and said, As per your credentials YOU ARE NOT ElIGIBEL FOR VISA..( beacause I am not Computer Engg )
Me: I smiled at him and kept a blank face.

Officer: He checked about the company which I am going to work and since I am working for a big company and having more than 6 yrs of experience, He got convinced and Said, Ok Pay the Fees at Counter Number 1 and have a safe journey to US.
Me: Thanks (With a big Smile)

Thats It.. I paid the fees and I got the passport back in 2 days with Visa Stamped on it.

It sounds simple, isn't it?

Just be confident, try not to make false statements, n Be Precise, Don't talk too much .. Answer to the point.

Check all the documents once before you step in there..

Good Luck :)

H1B interview at Chennai
I had the interview on second week of Dec. I had noticed some important points while i was waiting for the interview.
1. You must have the client's letter if you are going for a consulting company.
2. You should of the details of the end product if you are going for software development company.
3. They are more concern about to know what sort of work that you are going to perform there.
4. Dont ever get panic, and dont try to argue with the VO.
5. Whatever they say just agree.
6. If they need any explantions from you then make it as short (few lines will do).
7. Dont lean on the counter, stand straight.
8. Even though you get 221g DONT worry, thank the VO with the smile(life wont end with 221g).
9. Its always safe to have the W2(Atleast for 3 years),photos from your employer.
10. And Last but not least make sure the offer letter or any ref letter from your employer should have their contact address, website URL, and contact numbers

I got 221g even though i had the clients details but i didnt have the end client letter with me.Anyhow i know i will be getting my H1B in few weeks time(Hope so..).
