My Sister went to USConsulate Chennai for Visa stamping on Jan 7th. Unfortunately it was denied.
After asking few questions, they took away all her documents including
I797 and I129. They had given her a letter saying that her case is suspended at Chennai US Consulate and her I797 will be sent back to US INS and they will not provide any further information about her visa status. This is something is strange to me. I am not sure why they took her I797 back.Is there something we could do about it? Is there a possibility to get the I797 back? If anyone has any information about these please let me know.

Successful Stamping at Mumbai
I had my visa interview on 28th Dec. and I was as nervous about it as you possibly can be. I was already in the US and was returning to India for a social visit.
The interview time was 8:30 AM and I was at the consulate around 8:00 AM. It was a long wait to get in. I'd like to remind people to carry a draft of Rs. 100 in drawn on "U.S. Consulate General - Mumbai" on account of the adjustment in the visa fees. All the candidates had to go through the usual security check and then there was a long wait.
The interview itself went as below:
ME: Good morning, how are you doing today?
VO: Fine, thank you!
He looked at my passport, I-797 and I-129 and found out that I graduated from Penn. State.
VO: So who does Penn. State play in Orange Bowl this year?
ME: Florida State, and I hope Penn. State wins
VO: About time they did, that school has such a strong football record.
ME: Yes, lets hope so...
VO: So how far is xxxx (the place I work) from State College (Penn State campus)
ME: 180 miles
VO: Quite a drive, you cannot drive back and forth for home games, huh??
ME: Unfortunately not...
VO: So what kind of work do you xxxxx (my company)??
ME: bla bla bla....
VO: What is your salary?
ME: $$$$$$$ annually
VO: Visa via courier in 2-3 working days...
ME: Thank you! You have a nice day....
Thats it...no documents were asked for at all...I guess it is easier for people who are returning from the US and have to go through this formality as all the candidates with me who were returning home got the visas...

My interview was on 5th Jan
I reached the consulate around 12.15 in the noon.my appointment was at 2 clock.They asked me come back before half an hour.
I submitted my TTS DD and my 4600 DD at the counter.
After taking the finger print they asked me wait for 15 min.
Mam: Good afternoon

i'm working with very good company in india,first time iwent to madras counslate for stamping,and i was asked for some more details,second time i went with tht details,he had taken all the docs and asked to make drop at vfs with some more details,So should i have to drop my orginal study certificates and experince letters also or only the details mentioned by the VO,wht will be the chances as it is 3rd time.

Got 221g at Chennai (was a bad experience)

I am having 7 years of experience in IT industry, Master Degree in Computer Science from a reputed University, MCSD and JCP. I have been working at Singapore for the past 5 years for a UK Company, visited India for my H1B stamping on Nov 2005.
Let me share my experience.
My appointment was on Nov 2005 third week, I had reached Chennai Consulate on before time waited for less than 5 min then got in. Usual securities check at the entrance and gave attendance at TTS counter, paid DD for 441Rs. The VFS people (all Indian nationals) were checking the papers and keeping them in order into a folder, issuing a set of pink tokens which contains your number. I was waiting there with my wife and my son (5 years old), almost waited for 50 min I got my turn. The young guy on the counter, keeping my papers in order and wished us with a smiling face. I was so confident that, I will be getting my H1B as I am having all the required documents from my company(with good turnovers),experiences and educational background.
Once we entered into the main building there were some 100-150 people waiting for their turn. We were asked to go for finger print scanning, we were lined up on a queue. The lady (American) who was conducting the scanning, was in a very bad mood (very very bad Mood). Once our turn came in
Me : Hi Good afternoon , How are you mam.
Mam : (No response and stoned face)
Mam : Place your left index finger
Me : (Done)
Mam : Place your right index finger
Me : (Done)
(Then it was my wife’s turn. Done. For my son Mam said no need)
Me : Thank you very much Mam.
Mam : No response
(I was praying to God that He sould not put me in her counter and I was hoping that she is there only to perform scanning!!!!!)
Then we were asked to wait there in the first hall. I was so cool and very confident.
Even my son was enjoying the session. I was watching him and recalled my childhood hahaha !!!
Then my number was called and they asked us to wait in front a specific counter. Oh man the same Mam’s counter :(. Then I started to hear my heart beats…!!!!. In front of me there were some 9 people. The first candidate on the queue got the visa in less than 1 min and all the others got negative answer. The Mam was shouting and yelling and was in a terror mood. The way she was shouting at a old man aged around 70 was very bad.
Finally my turn came in:
Me : Hi Good afternoon, How are you Mam (Oh no not again)
Mam : No response (Oh no not again) the same stoned face.
Mam : Pass me the file.
Me : (Done)
Mam : You are going to work as ?
Me : Analyst Programmer
Mam : To which Company that your are going to work
Me : YYYY Company Name YYYY State.
Mam : Does your company has client
Me : Yes Mam, (And I had listed the clients name)
Mam : Which client that your going to work.
Me : (very care fully) Mam I am going to work for the product development at my HQ. And will be involved in customization depends on the client requirements. Here are the details of the product that I am going to develop.
Mam : So you are not sure which client that your going to work.
Me : (I had repeated the same but in brief)
Mam : DON’T ARGUE WITH ME
Me : No Mam I am not(said very politely still maintaining the eye contact) .
Mam : IF YOU ARE GOING TO ARGUE I WILL SEND YOU OUT OF THE CONSULATE(Shouting..!!!!!)
Me : I am Sorry Mam(No choice)
Mam : I AM NOT GOING TO ISSUE THE VISA OK ( scratched her head and had some water)
Mam : (I think she felt bad) Sir can I have your education Certificates
Me : Sure Mam
Mam : (Checked it for 1 min and returned to me)
Mam : Can I see your offer letter.
Me : Sure Mam.
Mam : So you are not sure to which client that your are going to work.I AM NOT GOING TO ISSUE THE VISA ( So strange at this point she didn’t even look at my offer letter)
Mam : (Mam took the 221g form and ticking on that)
Mam : Sir I need the client's original letter stating that you are going to work for them.
Me : Yes Mam.(with the smiling face huh no choice)
Mam : (She gave me 221g while returning the all the documents she spend 2-3 min to look into my marriage photos..!!!! And making us to wait I was wondering what went wrong,to be very honest.. I got the intension of throwing the 221g right on her face but kept my self cool as I was thinking of other people waiting behind me)
Mam : (Returned the photos.)
Me : Thank you very much Mam and have a nice day.
Mam : No response again stoned face(!!!!!)
After we came out from the consulate I was so embraced on a question came from my son. “Dad why that person was shouting at you”….I had no answer but I said “She is doing her duty”
And I am not going to reappear again. I had all the documents regarding the products, company photos but the treatment was very bad…I had noticed all the nearby counters all those VOs were very friendly and issuing visa to the most and they were very nice to the candidates even if they doesnt have proper documents. But our Mam was shouting so that the security people at the entrance could hear that. Try your best but don’t get frustrated, working in USA is good thing but life won’t end up if you don’t get the visa to USA. Be confident... Try your level best its all on VOs hand. All the best.

ADDITIONAL ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSING
Hello Friends,
I have applied for H1B Visa and I have twice appeared in the US Embassy,
New Delhi with all the required documents. First time I appeared on 10th October,05 I got 221g and asked to bring some more documents. Last time I appeared on 5th
November,05. I have furnished all the documents for the satisfaction of the
officer concerened. I receaved a letter saying that "Your application
requires additional administrative procassing before a final decision can be
made. This office will contact you once this processing has been completed".
I have not heard anything from the Embassy till to date i.e 10th january,
06. Even after more than two months I don't know what is happening over there. I am too much tensed. Kindly tell me:
1. What they actually do in this additional administrative processing ?
1. Maximum how much time this processing can take ?
2. How Embassy will contact me i.e through e_mail, home phone, mobile or
regular post ?
3.What does it normally mean as far as VISA is concerened "YES" OR "NO"
If any one has gone through the same experience and embassy contacted him after the complition of this processing then please contact me on [email protected]

Got H1 and H4 on Jan 9th at Chennai Consulate
My heartiest thanks to this site for providing valuable inputs for US Visa Personal Appearance..Myself and my wife appeared on Jan 9th at 10:15 Am at Chennai consulate ...Like my friends in this site mentioned lot of things are in mess and this mess is creating lot of confusion..
About myself ..have arnd 6 years of workexperience in Top 5 indian IT companies.. Have been to US thrice on L1 before and 2 months back went on B1 to US for a project meeting...
Had all the document including the client letter ( eventhough it was not foolproof..my employer arranged it in the last minute ..He faced delays due to holidays and he was under the impression that all VFS appointment in Jan got cancelled)...Both of us went to consulate at 9:50 as we stay in Chennai... There is a big queue of around 50 people waiting outside onthe road.. We joined them.. THose people waiting were having time from 9:30 to 11:00 Am... Majority were TTS printouts as per my observation...
As soon as i went inside around 10:30 Am after security check the people at TTS desk which is located on the lefthand side of door started ordering everyone to stand in their line...i was bit confused i repeateadly asked them whether vfs people should stand there ( as i have been there twice i know they collect service charge and mark attendance in this desk)..THat guy told YES...Another wait of 30 min approx..When our turn came ...they told ..Oh VFS ..u can direclty go and pay in any counter from 1 to 5....SO friends those who are using VFS facility please don't stand in the line at the left hand side of the entrance before a desk where two people sit as it is not meant for us...i was bit frustrated but maintained cool..GO DIRECTLY TO ANY COUNTER 1 TO 5 and SHOW YOUR HDFC RECEIPT AND OTHER DOCS...
Rest of the process is almost similar except that they are now making queues at 1 more points..one queue before the building where you enter for PA..you will be let inside as lots of 10 to avoid rush inside...once you go inside finger print and standin the line where your number is called for PA

VO: Ok Go and pay the visa fee and have a nice time for both of you.We will courier your passport within 3 working days

Most important thing is your credibility of your docs.. I was lucky to get chances to go abroad thru Indian IT companies and all those travel history really helped..i really thank my previous company for that

Finger print clerance
I had appeared for PA on 30th Nov and the VO told me my case require additional clearance and asked me to submit my finferprint which I did same day , Still not heared from them anything.
Can any one have idea how much time it take to get it cleared and scondly how consulate contact individuals.

H4 visa withheld
Hi
I need some information regarding my case of H4 stamping. I had an interview on 20th Dec and VO has issued me a 221g and had asked my husband to fax the necessary docs to embassy. She had kept my passport and all the dds and papers. I have enquired embassy recently they said they will contact me once the processing is done.
I want to know what are my chances to getting the visa? Can they reject my case if so then why did they accept my passport??

She had kept my passport and all the dds and papers. I have enquired embassy recently they said they will contact me once the processing is done.
I want to know what are my chances to getting the visa? Can they reject my case if so then why did they accept my passport??
