Overall I got the passport within expected time frame of 4 to 5 weeks. Below are the communications that I got or did during the renewal process.
Oct 01, 2020 - Thursday 01:35 pm
Application ‘Received’ by CKGS and 'Not Verified'.
You will receive an E-mail advising you of the outcome of the verification process.
Oct 05, 2020 - Monday 01:12 pm
Application Verification is ‘Complete’. Processing of your application will continue.
Full payment received and payment receipt sent to your registered email ID.
The Embassy may request for further documents over and above those already submitted as per the Document Checklist.
Please continue tracking your application status online.
Oct 06, 2020 - Tuesday 10:20 am
Application is ‘Under Process’ at CKGS.
Please continue tracking your application status online.

Application is 'In Transit' to the Embassy.

Parents confirmed the SO of police station if report is sent forward in which SO confirmed the same.
Oct 28, 2020 - Wednesday Morning
Dropped a mail to embassy ([email protected]) for checking the status as that was showing "under process" in passport portal site.
Oct 29, 2020 - Thursday Morning
Got a reply that they are waiting for police report.
Nov 02, 2020 - Monday Morning
Checked passport portal for status where it mentioned that passport has been printed.
Nov 03, 2020 - Tuesday Morning
Checked status again and got "Passport has been handed over by the Embassy/Consulate to the OSP executive for further dispatch to the applicant."
Checked CKGS site but no status update there. However, I was able to see AWB number in portal from CKGS to my address. Also a UPS mail was triggered notifying that shipment label is created.

Mine passport status is showing the same since more than a week as "Passport is printed and will be delivered shortly.".
VFS has started taking the new application, they are clearly saying they will not show the status of application before of 2nd NOV.
sf cgi is not responding the email / phone calls.
CKGS email's are bouncing and phone number is out of services.
HERE i am kind of situation feeling like stuck as not able to get the information from anywhere.
If ANY ONE has any information please REPLY.

I believe everyone is aware that Indian passport services contract has been granted to VFS global . But I couldnt find any links or section to start the passport application process ?

Passport status changed from Print Initiated for Passport to Passport application under Indian consulate/embassy review
I submitted my passport reissuance to CKGS on 7-Oct. On 30-Oct, received an email that Police verification is initiated and passport status changed to Print Initiated. I gave my US address to be printed in passport and gave my relative's address to print in Passport as other Indian address.
On 2-Nov, I see the status changed back from Print Initiated for Passport to Passport application under Indian consulate/embassy review.
Has anyone encountered this? Will there be any delay in getting my passport?

Applied for POA, status was pending in the site. But i received the documents signed. Looks like things are not getting updated in the site properly.

Confused on my passport renewal status - Consulate San Francisco
I submitted my passport renewal on Oct 14th to CKGS, on Oct 31st I got an email from passport.india.gov saying 'Police Verification Request has been sent to Police department'. When I check the status of my same application on 'https://portal6.passportindia.gov.in/Online/index.html' it says ' Print has been initiated for passport. '
Additionally when I check the status on CKGS portal it says 'Application is 'Under Process' at Consulate for decision making.'
Has anybody been in the same boat and got their passport back successfully? Any help is appreciated. TIA

Got Police Verification request - when staying and residing in US
I submitted my passport for renewal on Oct 12th, on Oct 29th I got an Initiation of Police Verification request email. The address shown on there is my parents address as during the application it had asked for the secondary address which should be in India. However, I had provided my US address as my primary place of residence and wanted that to be imprinted on my passport. which is clearly stated in my application for "Change of address". I am not sure what will the police would verify at the Indian address when I do not or never lived there. Why is the administrative process of the consulate confused? Is anybody on the same boat as me?

Police Verification - Consulate San Francisco
My passport has been at the embassy since September 28th. I received an email saying "Police Verification Request has been sent to the Police department", however, the passport portal tracking says "Print has been initiated for passport".
Does this mean my passport is on hold till they received the police verification.

Passport Application at Consulate-Chicago
Hi,
My application tracker at CKGS shows "Application under Process at Consulate" since 9th Oct. Police verification is also done in India but still, there is no change in the status. How long does it take after police verification?
Also, my passport was going to expire in March 2021 so will it take a month to get processed?

Passport renewal experience under normal processing at Houston Consulate
Passport Renewal experience with CKGS. PLEASE NOTE CKGS IS NO MORE THE PASSPORT/VISA APPLICATION PROVIDER, FROM NOVEMEBER 2020 ONWARDS SERVICES WILL BE PROVIDED BY NEW VENDOR(VFS)
Total Processing Days: 10 Business Days
Passport changes: Address Changed to US Address(first time from India address) and Change of Appearance
Mailed to CKGS along with Prepaid envelope USP 2 Day Air Shipping on Saturday 10th October 2020
Shipment delivered on Monday 12th October 2020, CKGS didn't update their status
CKGS updated the status as Received on Wednesday 14th October 2020
CKGS completed internal verification and mailed to Indian consulate on Friday 16th October 2020
From here onwards CKGS never updated the status, I had to track the passport status in https://portal4.passportindia.gov.in/
On Wednesday 21st October 2020, Passport Portal site updated the status to "Print has been initiated for Passport"
On Thursday 22nd October 2020, Passport Portal site updated the status to "Passport is printed and will be delivered shortly."
On Friday 23rd October 2020, Passport Portal site updated the status to "Passport has been handed over by the Embassy/Consulate to the OSP executive for further dispatch to the applicant."
On Monday 26th October 2020, UPS delivered passport.
