Indian Passport

Just got my passport renewed from Chicago consulate. I went through the Cox and Kings application and selected my own postal service because the website wouldnt let me use my address for some reason. The whole process went very smooth and astonishingly it only took three days between me shipping the documents and then receiving the new passport. It could have been because of the specific consulate or because I entered my Adhaar ID in the application which could have made the verification process very easy for them. Anyway here's how it went.

Just follow the steps on the website. And email them if you have any doubts. They always get back to you in a matter of hours.

I had applied for passport in CKGS Chicago on sept 14 and currently it is with Embassy and it reached on sept 17. I received the police verification email on sept 19th and I requested my family members to visit police station but they said they have not received my case. I have applied in normal processing and there is no change in my current address. Is this police verification valid for my case or it is auto generated email. In the email it’s written I need to contact police station after 3 weeks if they don’t reach out to me. Is there a way to track this. I tried in passport Seva link and gave my file number but It’s stating no record found. I am bit worried any suggestions on same situation would be really helpful.

I have submitted my passport renewal application to CKGS (on the 18th Sept). And, I am on an F1 visa and I am currently applying for the EAD card (Post-completion OPT).
Is it okay if I apply for the EAD card using my old passport? I am not sure when my new passport will be processed, and I don't want to delay an already tedious process.
My OPT start date will be late January, and my old passport expires in March '21.

  I have applied for my passport renewal which expires in May 2021. Would the renewed passport number change or will it remain same?
Also, I have submitted DS 160 with my old passport information for stamping and yet to book an appointment. Now, as I'm receiving a renewed passport
and if the passport number changes, would I have to pay the MRV fee again? Because the Note states as below on the UsTravelDocs site:
"Discrepancies between the profile, passport information, and DS-160 information may require completion of a new profile and purchase of a new MRV fee receipt."
In my USTravelDocs profile, it has my old passport number and I can't update the passport number in my profile. Kindly suggest in my situation.

 I have mailed my passport package on Sept 8th. I have a change in Address but the address on my Adhaar doesn't match exactly (change in District) with the new address and I'm worried if I would be queried on this.
 Police verification on my Indian address has been done successfully. My application status on Indian Passport tracker site says "Passport has been printed" on Sept 20th. Does this mean there wouldn't be any more questions from Embassy or they can still question on the Address part? Kindly suggest

I filled up my application and I am ready to send the documents to CKGS Chicago for renewal. I wanted to confirm the shipping specific information. I Opted for CKGS shipping and got the mailing label.

1. Do I need to include a return envelope for CKGS to return my passport or they do it?
2. I did not get a return label - does CKGS prints and sends to us.
3. What all needs to be put on the UPS envelope while sending the passport - any number : barcode ?

My entire passport renewal process took 16 business days, and 23 calendar days from shipping of documents to receipt of passport (Aug 17, 2020 to Sep 08, 2020).

I had requested the following Misc. services in my passport:
  1. Change of Address,
  2. Change of Appearance,
  3. Adding Spouse Name to the passport.

More information on the documents:
  1. Shipping bought from CKGS (UPS Next Day Air Saver)
  2. Money Order from USPS,
  3. Photos from Walgreens,
  4. Notary done at UPS Store.

Mistakes made:
  1. I made a mistake by not attaching the barcode on the shipped envelope, which I believe delayed the initial process. I was scared about the processing but no major issues because of that.

Additional information:
  1. Adding Spouse Name: Based on the information from various sources, I tried to notarize my marriage certificate to add spouse name to my passport. But unfortunately no one would notarize the marriage certificate so I just sent in color copy of the marriage certificate. I also submitted notarized copy of first and last page of spouse's passport.

Hi there! I i want to know if anyone has same passport reissue or renewal experience. I raised query on pramit few week before and got response back waiting for clearances from competent authority. Is anyone else dealing with the same situation? Its been 2.5 months months my application is under process at consulate/ embassy and no updates yet.

I wanted to share my Indian passport renewal experience here since I used my own UPS shipping prepaid label as opposed to using CKGS shipping. I had to do this cause I live on a brand new street address that was not pulling up on the CKGS application when I tried using CKGS shipping option. I would strongly suggest only using CKGS shipping option if you can as opposed to you own return shipping label (unless you have no option like me) as that is hassle free and you would avoid all the stress that comes along with using your own shipping option 😊.

I had to sent an empty envelope with the prepaid return shipping label affixed on the envelope along side the other passport renewal specific documents. As you can see from the timeline below, my process went smoothly until the point the new passport was returned to CKGS, NY from the Consulate. After this point (Aug 19th), my status was stuck and I had no clues on the next step. With the CKGS call centers closed, I had no way to contact them besides just sending emails to [email protected] and I just received one response that my passport was back at CKGS (which the status already indicated).

I also called UPS to schedule the pick up (assuming it was ready to be picked up). UPS made 3 attempts and none of the time my package was picked up (do not know the reason why CKGS did not put it in their pick up alongside the others). During this time I was sending emails to CKGS but did not receive any response.
Finally, On Sep 01, 2020, I received a status update that my passport was picked up by UPS from CKGS. I called UPS (I had received a direct number from their NY local center so that was nice of them) and they informed me that their driver has not yet picked up the packages from UPS. This meant that even though the status said the passport was picked up, it was actually just prepped with the other passports to be picked up by UPS. I am assuming this was an automatic process but cannot confirm cause I did not receive any response to my emails and just received this status.

I am hoping this post will help someone using their own shipping label as it definitely was a very stressful experience for me given the fact that I had no way to establish a real time contact with CKGS.

In all this I have to give a big shout out to UPS who helped me a great deal through the process (as I was pretty much every day in the calls with them) and eventually delivering the Passport safely to me today, Sept 2nd. They also called me to keep me up to date on my package status after they picked it up from CKGS.

I came to this page looking for experiences related to the police verification email. I received an email from the consulate on Aug 27th regarding the initiation of police verification request. I was not sure what needs to be done for the verification. Fortunately I received another email on Aug 28th saying my application is 'Reviewed' by Consulate and ‘In Transit’ to CKGS Application Centre. I did not do anything for the police verification but received my new and old passport on 09/01. Below is the timeline of the application process.
