My renewal was NOT a smooth process, took almost 50 days.
I had to email CKGS, SF Consulate multiple times. CKGS replied promptly but the Consulate didn't reply at all. Finally, I sent an email to Consulate General and I got the reply next day and also got my new passport issued.

Note:
I had a hostel address on my previous passport and requested to change it to my permanent address in India.
I received police verification mail from the consulate but the actual police verification did not happen. The local police station in India informed that they never received a request for verification from the consulate, when my relatives reached out to them.
Do not choose FedEx for passport photo, they had horrible quality. I had to retake the photo from CVS.

Sent the passport renewal application to CKGS without Barcode
Hi,
I sent the passport renewal application package with all the documents to CKGS, NY without the Barcode my mistake. UPS tracking status shows that the package has been dispatched in CKGS. But it is 3 days since dispatch, status doesn't show up anything on CKGS portal. Can someone suggest without the Barcode will CKGS process the application ?

police verification | minor | usa address
Hi,
My minor son's passport renewal application 'Under Process' at SFO consulate. In his passport application, 'Printable Address' is USA address, while 'Other Address' - I gave my (father's) Indian permanent address. Currently my permanent address is locked out as my parents are visiting USA. I had attached my Aadhar card as 'other address' proof. My son does not have any proof directly on that address, as practically he has stayed in USA after he was born. I'm at a loss at how to resolve this 'Police Verification' process. I feel this is an unnecessary harassment , MEA should be more considerate in the passport process of NRI, when they have all the clean documents to make an assessment. Has anybody run into similar satiation and has any advice ? Thank you,

Passport renewal triggered police verification email
I received an email few minutes ago regarding police verification initiated.
I have seen many posts on the forum about wrongly initiated and yet some had police actually to their house. My house in India is in a containment zone and they do not have the phone number of my parents in India. I had asked to put my USA address on the passport and sent them notarize drivers license. I also gave them a copy of my aadhar card (since the indian address printed on my passport is old, we moved to a new location after the passport was issued). I thought Aadhar was enough proof, not sure why this step is needed?
Do you think I should contact the police department immediately? Also they have not specified which police station exactly, so I am not sure which one to call?
Any tips or suggestions on handling this?

Mistakes:
1. Bank cashier spelled DD payable incorrectly but I spotted and corrected it right away.
2. Missed the barcode on top of the cover first time and luckily went to fedex store before pick up and pasted the bar code.
Points to note:
Photos from Costco .
Notary signature from UPS store they charged around 2 dollars per signature.
I also selected change in appearance since my face in old passport(age 23 then) is different(more chubby now age 33)
No Address change request .Kept my India address as it is.
No police verification.
Finally I created the label and sent the application through Fedex but they delivered passport through UPS.
It took me 20 days in total.
Good luck all.

Impending travel - unable to get CKGS to responding
Hi,
I need to travel to India on Sept 1, and renewed my passport back in early June (passport expires in August). Apparently CKGS found a signature missing and stalled my application. I’m based in the San Francisco Bay Area. I did not receive any notification over email or phone (I checked the spam).
I emailed them as to what to do about a week ago asking if I can just send the signature page but haven’t heard anything. Unfortunately their call center is closed.
Has anyone on this forum had a similar issue? How did you resolve it? Is there a way to contact CKGS over the phone? Assuming no issues how long does it take to receive the new passport?

CKGS login after filling up Government form
Not able to login into CKGS site after providing the required details (Government Online NRI Passport Form Number, date of birth, passport number).
