Indian Passport

Hi Everyone,

With all this COVID thing going on I scrambled to send in the application to renew my Indian passport as soon as I could when the Atlanta consulate opened last week and a half ago.

I need my Passport renewed by end of August 2020 to not affect my client work.

I FedExed my Passport yesterday and today the CKGS My Account status showed up as

May 19, 2020 - Tuesday 05:14 pm Application ‘Received’ by CKGS and 'Not Verified'. (it is now May 19th 10:35pm EST)

I noticed that most of folks on this forum especially everyone from Atlanta posted "Verified" by CKGS almost the next minute after CKGS received their application

I also noticed that there was an input box in the side bar in My Account page asking for a Reason for my Address Change, which I didnt notice before(Maybe I missed it in all the hurry), I filled the reason for Address Change, immediately the input box changed to "You have sent the request for address change." this was all probably around 2 hours ago around 8:30pm EST....

so not sure if I missed something that wouldve caused CKGS to not complete the verification of my application immediately the next minute.

I maybe a little too early asking this, but anyone went through a similar situation as me for CKGS taking a few days to complete the verification of their application, instead of doing the verification almost immediately?

Also did anyone get the input box on the left panel asking for the reason for address change?

I think the best thing to do now is to wait, any advice is much appreciated, I would rather be over cautious instead of missing something and causing a delay.

My passport is expiring early June, and I have tried contacting the Indian consulate at SF (and other places) for a month now only to receive
template emails asking me to wait until "shelter in place is lifted". Did anyone have any luck? did you send a copy of the passport's expiration page?

anyone in a similar boat? what did you do to get their attention? Is anyone successful in getting their passport on time?

If the passport is expiring in May 2020, is it considered emergency situation and application can be filed citing emergency? Does the legal status change if the Indian passport expires?

Anybody else on similar boat?

My passport and my daughter's passport showing "under processing" since 20th March. No update since then. Anyone experiencing the same whose application sent to consulate on or after 20th March ?

Waiting for processing time 8-10 days. Will raise PRAMIT after that.

With Indian consulate closed across US, has anyone who has given for passport renewal still pending ? I tried reaching out to consulate but couldn't connect. on the website it says passport services temporarily halted due to COVID19..

Is anyone in same situation or know any information on estimated time it will take to get passport processed. For me it has been three weeks since the passport reached consulate for renewal. Please share if you have suggestions or information or similar situation ?

it almost took me 2 weeks to fill the forms though, with address change being forced by the system

Here is my timeline , even during COVID19 , Consulate issued passport in a week. I shipped the document to CKGS Chicago. I changed my Passport address (new address also in India)

Initially I opted for walk-in submission at the Indian Consular Services Camp at New England Visa Camp (New England Shirdi Sai Temple) originally scheduled for March 21st. But due to the COVID-19 precaution the camp was cancelled.
Since I had already paid the Return package fees on CKGS application, I sent the documents myself using Fedex.
(No major changes on the application, except that I opted for my ‘Signature change’)

With SFO consulate closed till 07 April and possibility of the closure to extend further, there is chance that the passport gets expired and we are not able to renew it on time. Is it possible to stay in with expired passport?
