Got L1B Blanket & L2 USA Visa
My interview was scheduled on Wednesday 5th October 2011 at Mumbai. I was little tensed as few of my colleagues VISA was rejected a month back. After submitting all the documents I & my wife got the token. In sometime our token numbers were announced. We were asked below questions & luckily got enough time to answer them

1. Which company are you working currently & how long have you been working for this?

2. Tell me about the project.
- Here without fail I mentioned about the company proprietary "Tools" which I am having expertise on.

3. Tell me more about the tools.

4. In which city are you going to work?

5. What salary are they offering?
- Make sure you know the salary mentioned in your petition. If it's less, do mention that post visa interview there will be salary negotiation meeting with HR.

6. Where did you & your wife met? Is it a love marriage / arranged?

Then finally he said "the visa is been approved & you will receive the passport in next 3 days".

No questions to my wife, he did not even ask for marriage certificate / photos etc.

During the whole conversation, he hardly looked at us, so eye contact was out of question :). However you must be confident throughout & no matter what, it’s your destiny.

All the best!!!

L1B(Blanket) and L2 visa approved in Chennai
Thanks a lot to this forum which helped in giving me vital information, dos and donts etc. etc for my visa interview. Me and my wife went for L1B(Blanket) and L2 visa at Chennai last week and got through it.

As we were coming from Bangalore we took early morning flight to Chennai. Despita that we had good enough 3 hrs to kill outside Consulate. I remember a small restaurant and a bakery behind the consulate from my previous B1 visa visit where we went and relaxed instead of standing on foot path outside the consulate. My advise is that do not arrive too early at consulate even if u r with kids or alone, it is of no use. Best is to find a place near to Consulate preferably walking distance, relax and arrive 30mins prior to your appointment time. Even the guy who keeps your bag outside your consulate wont take the bags before that time.

Process begins by queuing up outside consulate based on your appointment time. You would need to show your appointment letter and passport to get the appointment token(single token for each family: L1 and L2). As soon as you enter go through a security check separate for males and females(no need to carry the CDs of visa digital photograph as they will be taken out, better not to bring them. There is water provision inside consulate, i remember that they allow small bag for infants for feeding), you will be in a hall with waiting areas. Take a seat and wait for your token number to come up on the screen. At the window, officer will look at your documents, fees receipts, arrange them in order and ask you to go to next window for finger printing. Post that you need to go main building where actual interview will take place. People accompanying kids can go directly instead of being in queue outside that building.
Again once you enter the main building, you will see a waiting area and various windows where people will be interviewed by Visa officers.
Token numbers are displayed in random order so do not get puzzled in case token numbers issued after yours are displayed.

We waited for our turn nearly 20mins and finally our token came at the end. It was close to lunch time and Consulate was almost empty. Do not get disturbed by seeing other people disappointed, focus on yourself and keep talking to your partner if accompanying.
We were called by VO and after greeting her and here is the list of questions i got:
1. Which Company are you working for?
2. What type of business company do?
3. Where are you going in US?
4. Which is your biggest client?
5. What is your specialization?
6. What will be your Salary?
7. Asked to my wife: How long you have been married? Any kids?
8. Back to me : What is your Highest Education?

The visa officer was really cool as when i was explaining her about my company and specialization. She said "you are an encyclopedia and hold on i cant digest all :)"
Finally golden words as people say here: Looks like 2 people are going to US and will give my autographs" We thanked her and left the window smiling.

Few things:
1. Documents which company and lawyer provide are sufficient but do carry all support documents like marriage photos, certificates etc. though i was not asked for anything.
2. Be calm and composed in consulate.
3. Be crisp n technical for answers to questions like company business, your specialization and how you are important to company. They are key questions.Probably prepare in advance what points to mention but donot mug up as chances are that you might fumble. You need to prove your worth and specialization in a domain. Try not to use very generic terms like support etc.
4. Wear formals. Probably avoid suits seeing Chennai climate.
5. Maintain good eye contact, speak clearly and be confident while answering. Its no problem if you take some seconds to reply to questions. Infact i asked her to repeat 2-3 questions as they were not clearly audible to me.

All the Best!

L1 L2 Approved at Chennai Consulate
First of all I would like to thank Immihelp for all the information they make available.

I attended visa interview with my husband at Chennai last week.

Firstly a check of all our documents was made, then we headed for the next window where our finger prints were taken. After waiting for sometime we got to meet the visa officer.

Questions asked to my husband:

1) Which company you work for?
2)What does it do?
3)Your salary?
4) Then she asked me "How long are you guys married"?
5) Back to husband "What is your highest qualification"?
6)Where in US you will be going? (it seems if you are going to the headquarter office of your company, you get an upper edge. we anyways told headquarter office and the location)
7)Then back to me "you have kids?"
( i smiled and said no...she smiled back)

After moments of filling some info on her PC she told us "Looks like two people are going to US" :)
We smiled and thanked her and wished her a good day.

Tips:

1. Read immihelp past experiences, it really helps.
2. Be confident
3. Be true
4. Smile

I wish good luck to all the readers. Fly High! :)

L1-B Blanket approved at Chennai
Thanks to all Immihelp users who had posted their experiences which helped me to prepare for my Visa Interview.

Had my L1-B Blanket Visa Interview at Chennai Consulate today (30 Sep 2011).

Crowd was higher than normal and it took about 2 hours before I was standing in the VO's queue.

Questions asked:
- How long are you with your current organization ?

- You have travelled on a H1 before. Why are you applying for a L1 now ?

- What will be my salary in the USA ?

Total time at the VO counter approx. 2 mins.

My case - 7+ experience in the same company, same client and same application. Did not mention about any tools/methodologies. Just told the VO about my application knowledge and stressed that it is very important for an upcoming initiative.
