L1B - Specilalized knowledge ( BEP ) approved
Hi I got L1B visa on 8th May 2009. I went to chennai. It is so fast. For me it took only 15 min including the security checking. After the security check, my documents are verified at one counter. There he scanned 1)My left hand ---finger. 2) Right hand four fingers[except thumb] scanned. 3) Both the thumbs of right and left scanned at a time together.

After the documents verification I asked one employee [some helpers will be there, they will guide you what's next.] what is next? He saw my folder [File] and told me to go to a special counter no 12, that is for BEP. [Business Executive Process]. There a US officer will eb there. my Q;s are as follows.
Me: Good Morning.
Visa Officer [VO]: Hi Good morning. Can i have our folder.
Me: Sure.. [I gave my folder to him, he took the HDFC vouchers and then scanned some thing from my passport.]
VO: How long you are working in the current company?
Me: 3 years.

VO: Who is ur Client?
Me: HP

VO: How long you are working for this client.
Me: 1 year.

VO: What is ur Specialized knowledge?
Me: I told abt my specialized knowledge.

Then he asled me to put my laft hand index finger.

Then the golder words "Your visa is approved. you will receive your passpoer in 4 days."

Me: Thank you.
after this the VO didn't tell any thing. i was ina confusion whether i can leave the premises or not.
Me: Shall i leave now?
VO: Ya sure you can go home.
thats it..........................

-------------------------------------------------
The visa officer will be inside a counter, and we will be out side. [Its like a Railway Reservation counter.]
we will be having a mike out side to speak and its speakers are inside the glass door so that he can listen to our voice.
Similarly the VO will have a mike and its speakers are out side so that we can listen to him.

As we will stay out side its bit noisy.. so many people will be roaming around. so listen to him care fully.

All the best for all.

--> Be confident.
--> Read ur petition very well atleast 3 times.
--> Better to carry all your documents.
--> they will check each and every paper.

Thanks,
Sravani

L1 Visa
Hi,

I had approved petition for L1 Visa valid till June 20 2008 since June 20 2007. I processed my visa with this petition in the month of May 2008 one month prior to expiry date. Finaly my visa is approved from embassy on 1 st week of August 2008. I was happy when I received visa. But when I check carefully on visa, visa expiry date was 20 jun 2008 as my pettition. We got confused and back to embassy. And counter staff told us it is mistaken and we could issue visa beyond this date. And adviced us to get new approved petition. I did premium processing ( paying USD 1380) for quick. But this time my petition is denied where as same petition was approved with the same kind of paper and documents but this time do not approved. But they asked me to do appeal within 30 days paying USD585 but it is already over. So, I am stocked in Kathmandu. There are several letters from IRS received in my office in USA to file taxes. But I am out of USA how can I pay taxes. So, shall I re-process from the begining or what should I do ?? Please advice us if anybody have these kinds of experience and result.

L1B - Blanket Interview Cleared
Hi All,

I had my interview at the American Counsellate, Chennai today in the morning at 8:00 AM for L1-B Blanket Visa.

If you have an interview at xx:oo hrs then it is sufficient if you reach the counsellate 15 mts before the appointment time. You do not have to be 1 hr prior and all.

Please dress up well in formals as specified by your company and be confident when you answer your questions.

I was just asked one question about my end point customer. I answered and the VO took my passports and said that my passports would be sent back within the next 3 days. I am waiting for my passports to reach me to see the stamping.

Please go through the petition papers once or twice before the interview and just be genuine and confident.

Also if you are applying through a BEP (Business Executive Program) then do not forget to use the Teal coloured folder.

All the best for the other Interviewees.

Regards,
Sriram.S

L1 Blanket Approved
Hi All,
Thanks to immihelp and contributors. I had my L1 stamping on 2nd April in Mumbai. I am working in US and my L1 Indivisual was expiring on 23rd April. My company asked me to go down to India and get L1 Blanket stamped.
You need to remember that L1 is specialised knowledge visa. When VO asks skills related question you need to specifically talk about the specialised skill and not the technology.

Mine was very straight forward. Luckily my daughter(1.8 yrs) was sleeping :-)

Me - Good Morning
VO - How long you have been working with this company
Me - X yers
VO - Why do you want to take your family with you
Me - ?????????
VO changed the question after reading the some info
VO - Why you want to go to US
Me - Currently I am working on xyz project. I have specialised knowledge in that project. I was working on similar kind of projects when was in India
VO - What is your salary
Me - XYZ amount
VO - US $ or Indian Rs.
Me - US $. I don't know my Indian salary since I get US salary. Indian salary info is not disclosed to us.
VO - Congratulations. Your visa has been approved and you would receive your passport in 1-2 days.
Me - Thank you very much.

No questions were asked to my wife.

Thanks Immihelp.com and all of you for posting your experience. After reading your posts, I felt that I knew the place well before reaching there.

My expereince...
My inteview was scheduled at 7 am on 21st. I reached there by 6:45 and to my surprise, i could see a queue of 100 ppl waiting outside the gate.
Around 7am, the guards called for those who had inteview at 7am. I was asked to show the visa appointment and the passport and was let in.

Then there were another check and frisking of documents. Then I was asked to join in the line for verification of documents. After the verification of the document I was asked to go the other building for the payment and the interview. After the payment, the office attached the receipt to the documents and I stood in the line for the interview..

Here are the questions that I was asked.
VO: How much experience you have with the present company?
me: 23 months
VO: what is the nature of the project
me: Told about the project in a line.
VO: Who is your client?
me: The same company itself.
VO: Oh you are a subsidiary company....
me: yes
VO: Where it is located in US?
me: Utah
VO: Oh Utah!, nice place.
VO:(finally the golden words) Your shall receive your visa in a week.

WOW!! that was it. he didn't even ask me about my specialized knowledge!!
It was very easy for me. One piece of advice. Be confident and prepare well for the interview.
All the best to whomsover who is reading this.

L1b/L2 visa approved under 221g
I had my interview with my family (husband and two kids)on Apr.3 scheduled at 9:30am but we arrived at the embassy at 8:55am already. We really rushed to each of the steps as I thought to be ready 1 hour before the interview. The staff were so kind. I was given a priority number to expedite the process for the interview maybe because my scheduled time was almost up. Besides, I had my baby with me (5mos.old). Only 5mins. of waiting my number was called. They give priority to those with kids. VO had asked few questions:
1. How long will you be in US?
2. Are you going as a manager?
3. What will you do there?
4. Is your husband employed?
VO stopped asking after he noticed that I was missing a form or submitted a wrong form for my application. He verified with his boss then ask for my marriage contract and birth certificates of the kids and gave me a 221(g)letter with our passports back. At 10:15am, we were all done with the interview. I was able to submit the required document in the 221g letter together with our passpots on Apr.17 and got those passports back on Apr.22 with VISA stamped on it.
This site is so helpful. Thanks for all the posts. My advice is pray, be confident, and dress formally.
