Blanket L1B
I want to thank the moderators of this site for providing a platform to share experience.

I got my L1B visa approved today at US Consulate....

Amazing thing is that he asked me only one question?

From how may years you are working for this client.

He asked me to put my middle finger of left hand and said you visa is approvd.

I think Confidence, Formal Dressing and Big smile on face are keys points.

Best of luck to all

Thanks

L1B Blanket & L2 Visa stamped
I had the stamping process for my L1B blanket Visa & my dependents L2Visa in Chennai Consulate. My scheduled interview time was at 11:45 A.M. I went with my wife and kid. I wished the consular officer. Here are my questions that i faced. My wife did not have any question. Since my kid was crying, the consular officer asked my wife to move aside and take care of the baby.

VO:Who is your client ?
me:xxx

VO:What is the nature of project ?
me:xxx

Did you work on the initial design of the project ?
me:Yes

How long you are with the current employer ?
me:2.5 years

What is your total experience in IT ?
me: 8 Years

What is your father-in-law ?
me:xx

Where did your kid born ?
me:xx

Which hopstial was your kid born ?
me:xx

What is the date of birth of kid ?
me:xx

Finally the golden word came "Your Visa is approved".

L1B - Blanket Visa Approved
Dear Friends I would like to thank everyone for sharing their experience in this forum.

Myself, My wife and My 4 years old daughter attended the interview.

Approximately It took 1 hr 15 mins for the entire procedure to complete.
Our schedule was 8:45 Hrs. We could see good crowd in the morning.

i will try to narrate the entire procedure so that it will help people to have an Idea.

(Some Procdure may vary according to the type of Visa you are applying for)

Step 1:

I produced the invitation letters and Passports (only) of my family at the gate for identification.
After this my wife and kid were moved to the entry meant for ladies, while i am standing in the gents queue.

After a security check we were allowed to enter the building.

Step 2:

There will be again a detailed security check once you enter the building.

After this we will be entering a hall. Officers will be there to help us if we have any questions. Otherwise they will direct us to a counter wherin all our primary documents will be scanned.

Give the entire folder to that officer. He will arrange the necessary documents and hand over others documents (only subject to verification by the US Counselor).

Important,If you have any corrections (typing errors) needs to be done you can request that officer to mark and change in the document (DS 156 & DS 157) and also in the VFS Data base where the documents are stored.

Step 3:

Once scanning is complete, inform the helping Team , you will be directed to another counter where you have to pay the DD 26,000 (subject to vary) FD Fee.

Produce all the documents as you received after scanning. The officer will take the DD alone and will return you the documents.

Once you pay the DD, inform a Helping officer. He/She will guide you to be seated or ask you to follow in a queue that will lead you to a Visa Counsulate officer counter for Interview.

Step 4:

Just when your turn comes, look at the officer and procede. Wish him/her. Produce the documents through the sliding gap. Make sure the officer receives the folder properly.

Few questions answered by me and my wife:

For me,

1. How long been you are working with this company?
2. What is the purpose of your visit?
3. Summarize the project that you are going to work?
4. Where you are going?
5. Your Designation?
6. Tell me about the machines built by your group company?

Wife,

Are you a graduate?
What is your graduation?
Where you studied?
Period of your studies?

It was a good day that we got our visa approved.

Procedures are subject to vary depending on the crowd and the availability of Staffs.

I hope this will help you.

Best of Luck Guys.

I had my interview this morning scheduled for 7.00 am.
However, the visa officers came in only by 8. The first hour is for pre-screening etc.

The following questions were asked:

1. What line of business are you working?
2. Who is your client?
3. What is your total work-ex?
4. How many years with this org?
5. what is your total work ex? (again)
6. How long with the current line of business?
7. How long with the project?
8. What are you going to do there?
9. Why you and no other members from your team?
10. What is your educational background?

I would suggest keeping the following points in mind:

1. Thorough prep - Trust me... most of us need this
2. Smart dressing - No chappals/floaters. Business formals (with Tie if possible) with polished business shoes
3. Carry your company id
4. Groom well - please don't go without a shave - this adds to your sincerity
5. Avoid carrying plastic bags - they create too much of a mess
6. Speak loud and clear in the mic - this will add to your confidence
7. Carry an extra photograph - I was asked for it but they never mentioned that this would be required

And also, pray to God. This helps... truly.

All the best :)

My blanket L1 got approved
Questions were bit tricky.
My officer was funny but logical.
But at last my L1 got approved.

The qns. were..
Who is you client ?
ZZZ

What are your special skills ?
I talked about my client's propeitary tool and my 2 weeks training I attended at the client's site.

What are you going to do in US?
going to work on an upcoming project which uses the propreitary tool.

Why can't your client train some one in USA for 2 weeks and make them work on this project ?
I talked about my experience at offshore on the tool.

Oh.. You can work on this tool from offshore?
I answered Yes.

She smiled. & asked. Then, why do you want to go there ?
I talked about the time diffrence.

Again she smiled & asked. Can't you work on night shifts ?
I talked about the criticality of the project & the difficulties of coordinating a team of people at onshore & offshore.
Also I told that I would be there only for the initial phase of the project & then I will be working on that from offshore.

She replied with a smile : Ok..ok.. You go there & train enough people there so that nobody needs to go there again to work on your so and so tool.
Your VISA is approved.
