she: Good morning.how r you?
me: Thank you.i am fine. How r u doing today.
she: (looking at my previous visa in the passport) so you had already travelled ?
me: yes.
she: you recently came back ?
me: yes. 2 months back.
she:you will be travelling for the same client ?
me: no mam. Different client. but i will be using the same technology and same tools for this project too.
she: alright. (started signing the papers..)
me: Thank you. Have a great day
she: Thank you.Bye...

fortunately mine was very short and simple. but the same interviewer was asking so many questions to the girl who was standing before me.
my tips would be

Hi All,
I am thankful for introducing such a informative, instructive and a useful forum to all the L1 visa seekers!!!

I got my BL1 Visa stamped on 21-Jan-2009.I could prep well with loads of stuff here n of all YOUR CONFIDENCE IS THE KEY TO SUCCESS!!!
I was asked the following questions by US consulate officer-
1. How long your are with the company ***?
Ans: 5 years 2 months.
2. You have your B1 visa and H4 Visa stamped?
Ans: Yes
3. Have you been to US?
Ans: Yes

He was then verifying documents n said fine, passport will be couriered in 2 business days. Have a great day! :-)

1. Pals just be confident with all your preparations.
2. Very important is to speak to the Officer with a smiling face and free-flow language.
3. Also please understand why you are chosen for this role and the answer can be based on all/any of the following reasons -
a. Education
b. Total yrs of experience
c. Experience with similar projects
d. Trainings attended
4.Also understand what is so relevant and important that your assignment shoudl be carried on at onsite rather than offshore?
5. Always mention that it is a temporary assignment.
6. If asked by Officer whether you would apply for Green Card, just say a NO, coz it concludes that you are planning to stay for ever in US.

Prepare well...All the best buddies!!

L1, L2 VISA approved - Jan 20th 2009
L1A VISA of my husband and my L2 was approved.
we had a 1 year baby. Applicants with children are given a lot of preference, our interview time was 7am, the consulate opens only at 6.30 we were the second in Q.
A small pouch containing some baby essentials were allowed, donot carry any battery operated baby toys.
after the intial document checks, we were asked to wait until 8 for the interviewer to arrive.
The interviewer asked my husband the following questions
How long have you been with the company?
What is the name of your client?
What is your role?
Is this your first L1?
Have you been to the US before?
by the time he was answering the questions she had signed and sealed on the forms, she said your VISA has been issued it will be couriered to your office address.
She did not ask me any questions, we had carried our wedding album (just about 30 good pics in a small album) My son smiled and waved at the interviewer she was very nice.

L1/L2 Visa Interview
I got my L1 VISA stamped on 7th Jan, I visited US embassy along with my wife. They were rejecting VISA at will and their was a chaos all around as "Satyam" news was flashing on all televisions within the embassy. It went like this

Staff: Good Afternoon Sir, Mam.
We: Good Afternoon.

Staff: Why you want to goto US
I: I am working for a project for which I need to "same lines as mentioned in my L1 petition along with tools/application names"

Staff: How long you have been in "MY COMPANY"
I: 3 years

Staff: Which client is this for?
I: "XYZ "

Staff: Your VISA is approved and you will receive your passport in two - three working days.

My advice:
1. Dress as formally as you can (You are never formally overdressed in American Embassy).
2. Stand upright and DONOT lean on the window.
3. Answer questions with confidence.
4. Remember what is written in your VISA petition.

Another successful story in the forum for L1B Blanket
Hi Friends,

Hope my experience would add some more value to this forum. I appeared for my L1B Blanket visa interview at New Delhi today.

VO : Good Morning Sir.
Me : Good Morning
VO : For how long have you been working with XX?
Me : Almost 3.5 yrs
VO : Who is your client?
Me : YY
VO : What is your specialised skill and job role for this client?
Me : I'll be configuring XX specific ABC tool and setting up realtime reporting.
VO : Is ABC your company specific tool?
Me : Yes.
VO : Have you done similar implementations of this tool for any other client in the past?
Me : Yes. For XYZ account.
VO : Where were you based during the implementation?
Me : London, UK.
VO : Ok. Your visa is approved and you'll receive your passport in a week's time through courier. Your B1/B2 visa is valid as well so make sure that at the point of entry in US, you tell them that you are entering on L1 and not B1.
Me : Thanks. I'll keep that in mind.
{End of Interview}
