Hi All,

I was going through this website and seems to be very genuine and very interactive, recently my company has applied for L1-B petition for me, i provided all the required documents while filing and i am seeing same kind of queries are popping up.

what is this situation suggest? will some one help in their insights

Thanks to all the users for summarizing your experiences here. It helped a great deal when i went for the process.My interview was scheduled on 13th July

A bit disappointed at the moment as I had put in some serious efforts over the weeks rehearsing the anticipated questions apart from the weeks of effort put in to fill the forms. However, US is not the end of the world. Jotting down the questions as below:

The interview questions were as follows:
VO: What is your designation
Me: Product Marketing Engineer

VO: Which organization?
Me: XX

VO: Where would you be moving?
Me: San jose

VO: How many years have you been with XX?
Me: Almost 3 years with XX and total of 8 years of domain experience in the same field

VO: What is your Job role?
Me: Work as a Product Marketing Engineer handling XX products I am overall responsible for defining new products and handling the marketing deliverable. Day to day responsibility would include:
(i)Defining new product specification for XX products by working with the design and Technical team
(ii)Handling the requirement and release of XX specific tools
(iii)Expert in XX product marketing processes and handle marketing collateral like Datasheet, Product introduction, product brochure and customer training workshops.

VO: Salary?
Me: 1XX

All the while the Visa Office was looking into the system while asking questions. Then she came across the term Market strategy in the petition and asked the following:

VO: What is your highest degree?
Me: MBA

VO: So, you define the marketing strategy?
Me: Yes, that includes pricing, promotion and Go to Market strategy. However, I also define the technical specification of the product for a new product.

Here I wanted to specify my technical expertise as I believe that is my actual specialization rather than defining market strategy.

Then she told me that she had to confirm something and came back after 5 minutes to say the following:

"L1B visa has a very narrow scope. There is no issue in your profile. However, the visa is clearly not approved. Please discuss with the HR"

I kind of expected this when she headed out for confirmation as most of the cases when they are not sure on something they reject it. However, greatly disappointed by the lack of transparency on the reason for reject.

Now, I am not sure if the category I applied is incorrect or the specialization is not convincing? Would greatly appreciate if someone can help here.

This site is awesome and it has helped me a lot, i prepared 21 different questions after going through first 30 pages of this site, wrote the scripts for each of those questions, post my interview i realized that all questions came from these 21 questions. I couldn't crack it, that my bad.

My company applied for L1A blanket, which got rejected on 9th of July, below is my interview experience:
Me Good Morning Officer.
VO: Good Morning

VO: So you work for ZZZ
Me: That's correct officer

VO: which client are you going to work for?
Me: I am not going to work for any client, i will be working for my parent organization. My team helps acquire new customers and new business from existing clients.

VO: How many years you are working in this organization?
Me: 4years 11 Months

VO:How many years of total experience do you have?
Me: 9 Years & 9 months

VO: What is your role and responsibilities
Me: I Lead the sales engineering team for unified communications product & services portfolio within Network Practice which is a strategic business unit. I am responsible for business development, team management & team expansion to meet the larger organization goal of revenue growth

VO: How many direct & indirect reports?
Me: 8 direct 5 indirect

VO: How many in US
Me: Currently none, I am going to expand the team in the North Americas as we are losing business to competition because of no local presence.

VO: How many resources are you going to hire?
Me: 8 resources, 2 in jersey, 2 in dallas, 2 in chicago and 2 in Sunnyvale.

VO: what is going to be your US salary?
Me:91620 Fix +10180 Bonus

VO: whom do you report to?
Me: DGM

VO: What does it stands for?
Me: Deputy General Manager

VO: Whom does he reports to?
Me: General Manager

VO: Whom does he reports to?
Me: Senior Vice President

VO: Checked something in the computer, and handed over me the blue slip mentioning " L1 Blanket has a low margin and your visa can not be approved"

I am not sure what went wrong? I have gone through this site thoroughly, i prepared my responses for each and every question, i even took my spouse and 3 year old for this interview, kept a smiling face with eye contact with the officer, still dint get the visa.

i have observed that the folks who are in sales cycle, like Business development, pre sales and at mid management level are not getting blanket L1A.

My organization wants to apply for L1A individual now, i have following queries, and would appreciate if some one helps with these:
1.> I dont have any onsite reports, I am going to build an onsite team, train & coach them and come back, on this condition should i apply on L1A individual or shall i go for L1 B Individual?
2.> Shall i change my reporting to a senior folk in my new petition, would this be a challnge as in my blanket petition, my RM has been a DGM, would they cross check my blanket petition?
3.> I am going with a revised salary of 125K in my new petition, again will they cross check this with my blanket petition?
4.> For BDMs like me, what kind of RFEs should I expect, so that i start preparing those docs.
5.> Would appreciate if someone can route me to a good visa consultant, cant afford a rejection this time, so want to file a perfect petition and prepare according to it for the D-Day.

Hi All,

My L1 B is expiring in February next year and I need to file for extension. My immigration attorneys are suggesting that I should apply for the extension at the consulate directly (in India) rather than with USCIS. They are saying that they have been receiving increased RFEs for direct extension filings with the USCIS.

If someone here has gotten their L1B extension after October 2017 please let me know how your experience was. I want to know the following,

1. Did you file extension with USCIS or consulate?
2. If you did with USCIS did you do premium processing or not?
3. How long did it take for your extension to come through?
4. Did you receive any RFE? How was it resolved?

Is this true that if you are going with family, you are less likely to be rejected ?

Heard so from people that people going with Family clear the interview easily. Please help.

L1A approved on 7/5. VO told me that I will get passport in few days. But after 4 days of interview, its still showing passport is with US consulate only. CELA website showing Application status in Admin process. There was not follow-up ask from VO on that day and neither I got any email till now. Today I have noticed that on I-29 form that VO officer put Stamp for 7/6. ( instead of same day 7/5). Not sure what is the reason here. Is this causing the delay for further processing. Not sure if anyone faced similar issue in past

Hi,
After a good 4-5 min interview, VO handed over the blue slip stating 'not clearly approvable'. Shattered my dream in a second. But have to accept the reality.

My company plans to initiate the L1-Individual under PP but given that it may take 4-5 weeks in best case scenario (or hope does not come with any RFE), then further lead time for the interview at least 4 weeks time. So in the meantime, planning to get L2 stamped based on my spouse's recently approved L1 . Reasons: 1) Since need to travel to USA with kids. Their school starts in Aug. 2) Even after L1-Indiividual which may have another 2+ months overall lead time, what if it get rejected.

Question: Will my L2 and L1 create any issue at the time of L1 interview? and VO to think that I am keeping hands on multiple things in parallel, but with kids school time and other push that my Spouse is getting from her management to start soon at onsite, i have this situation, Please advise.

Lastly, I was even thinking if I get the L2 soon, can do settle them in early period, initiate an EAD once in USA and come down for L1-Individual appointment, will that be too conflicting?

I have a query -

My husband is in US on L1 visa. My firm is ready to initiate L1 Individual visa for me but there are high rejection rates in my firm. SO can I parallely apply for both L2 and L1 Individual visas? So that incase L1 gets rejected I will have L2 visa in my hand?

can we pay fraud Prevention and Detection fee at consulate by cash?

Attended Biometrics with my family (Myself, wife and daughter) on June 18 2018 @ 3:00 PM
 Douments to be carried:
 Filled DS 160 form
 PAI Confirmation
 Passpoerts.

Note : If there is any change or mistake in the DS160 , it can get corrected just Biometric center.

I have mentioned year wrongly in DS160 for my daughter and get corrected immediatley outside the biometrics center, then again joined the queue.
