L1B Individual Approved @ Chennai
Dear All,

Thank you sharing your experience which helped to a great extent.

I like to share my experience as well.

In 2014, I have applied for L1B Blanket at Chennai Consulate and was rejected. I was not sure of the reason but I guess my experience was 3 years and it could have been a reason. Though I was able to show my Special skill in our company methodology, I did not clear the interview. I was asked 16 questions at the time of interview which included 6-7 technical questions. After my rejection, I did not apply for L1B individual.

In 2017, I applied for B1/B2, which is a business visa and I was asked 1 question during this time. "Where will you be travelling".

In 2018, I applied for L1B, this time Individual. From my past learning and experience I wrote my documents to the best of my knowledge showcasing my skills and specialised knowledge and my experience of 7 years with my company methodologies. My documents got cleared without any RFE. It was not a premium process, but still the petition was approved within 30 days.

At Chennai Consulate:
Arriving 15 minutes before is sufficient. My slot was at 9.30am and I could finish my interview by 12.15pm only. It was a long wait. Anyway drinking water, restrooms are available to keep yourself fresh.

Questions:

1. Both the passport are yours?
2. Which category you are applying for?
3. L1A or L1B?
4. Who is your petitioner?
5. Which place you will be travelling?
6. What is your salary?
7. Are you married or single?

She checked my old passport and typed something on the system. (I guess my Business visit travel).
She then told, "I'm approving your visa" and gave back my old passport.

On the same day status was showing "Administrative Processing", then next day it changed as "Issued" and then passport was delivered.

If you really own specialised skill then its important how you project it out. Luck might be a factor, but I believe how you prepare yourself is the key. Be honest with your answer. I was rejected in 2014 and I have to wait 4 years to get a chance again.

Hope it helps.

Thank you all and Goodluck!

L1b Rejected at chennai and later on L1B individual approved at Delhi
Hello All,

Just to help all as I got much help from IMMIhelp.

In January18
First L1B Blanket was rejected at Chennai Consulate with a status not clealrly approvable with a pink slip. Online status - Administrative processing.

Later on in March 18 submitted L1b Individual under premium processing.

Case was submitted and petition got approved with in a week.

Interview scheduled for June - Visa got approved after few similar questions you may find in all experiences.

Things to note which may help while going for interview.

Chennai Consulate:-
1. Just be on time (if interview time is 09:15 then be there at 09:00 only not at all before that else get ready to be burned Chennai's heat)
2. Bring some cash and your documents only NOTHING apart from this.
3. Total time taken for l1b blanket procedure from entry gate to exit is around 45 mins. You may find a paper hanged displaying time slot they are allowing to enter the consulate.
4. At entry you will be asked to arrange your documents in a series then you will asked to follow a path which will lead you to consul interview area. Here your fingerprint will be matched first. Then you will have to submit the fees. after fees submission you will be asked to wait in a small queue and then you will be sent to the nearest window for interview.

Delhi Consulate:-
1. Similarly be just on time
2. You can bring your mobile here alongwith your docs and cash. you will find a counter to deposit your mobile at 50 rs. Please be too early to submit mobile. (Mobile deposit and collection queue moves too slow).
3. Total TAT for procedure 45 mins. You can find the time slate to enter the consul keep an eye on it for your time slot. They also annouce the time slot.
4. Here you need keep your passport & I797 handy. They may ask for your documents later depends case to case.

L1-B blanket rejected
Hi All,

I had my L1-B blanket VISA interview in Chennai consulate on 12th Jun 2018 and it was rejected. Thought of sharing my experience with you....

# Just before interview:
It was full rush outside consulate and after an hour of standing in queue I was taken inside VISA lobby. In another half an hour (fingerprint verification and payment) I was called and asked to stand before a counter for my interview.
Note - you should plan to arrive just 15 min before your scheduled time otherwise it is waste of time. They will only allow to enter on your scheduled time.

# Interview experience:
VISA Officer: Good morning, can I have your passport please
Me: Sure

VO: Which VISA did you apply for L1-A or L1-B
Me: L1-B

There was a long pause after this question. Probably, he pulled my profile and started looking into his system.

VO: How long are you with YYYY company?
Me: XX years and XX months

VO: How long is your assignment in US?
Me: 3 months

There was another short pause and he was frequently looking into his system.
VO: Ok, So will you be getting US dollers or Indian Rupees?
Me: US dollers

VO: How much?
Me: YYYY per month plus other arrangements...

Here, I gave little extra info but he was in a bit hurry to ask another question and probably didn't expect long answer.

VO: So tell me what is your specialization?
Me: YYYY tool and this is being used for YYYY
I gave one liner here and he looked happy.

VO: What this tool does?
Me: This tool is based on YYYY ...

I just started describing my tool and suddenly he asked another question.
VO: Who is your client?
Me: YYYY

So far looking at the conversation I was bit relaxed and positive about on-going interview in my mind. Though interview was going in pretty natural flow, may be I gave extra info in couple of answers but all of a sudden he removed one paper and said "Unfortunately we cannot approve your VISA today..."

I was bit confused momentarily but as everyone knows getting US VISA requires littile luck at your end and it's all dynamic as what you say and what VO is expecting to hear. So I said "better luck to next time" to myself and came out of consulate.

Here is my story now it's upto you how you take it and what you read out of this. Please don't be nervous and don't blame yourself if you don't make it.

Both L1 and L2 are under admin Processing?
Hi Everyone!

I have posted this to enquire if anybody has faced a similar situation while applying for L1 and L2 visas.

My husband had appeared for L1 interview on 8th May 2018 where simple questions were answered briefly. At the end, the VO replied" That before I fully approve your visa, i would need further information on your work. You'll be receiving an email and try and revert to that immediately". (Passport retained by Chennai consulate and 221(g) Blue slip handed over). Under CEAC site, his case created on 7th May and Case Last updated as 8th May 2018(Till date the same status is appearing). While he had reverted them on 13th May 2018 over email as asked.

On the other hand, I had apperaed for my L2 visa interview in Delhi where VO asked me few question pertaining to my marriage and then asked me about my husband's visa to what i replied is under admin processing. He then left the counter for atleast 7mins and came back with a reply" Case looks good but can approve only of my husband's visa gets approved". He returned me my passport and issued me a yellow slip of 221(g).

I want to know how would the l2 visa get processed if the passport is still with me ? Also worry is that the statuses for our case numbers haven't moved a bit since the interview date under CEAC site. What could be the possible reasons?

Please share information if anyone has faced a similar issue or related.

Thanks in advance.

L1b visa experience
First of all thanks to this forum. Usual question asked and I was able to clear my interview.

Only suggestion I want to give is that if you are married apply visa with your wife to improve probability of getting visa. I haven't heard of any case of visa rejection of married couple applied together. However this doesn't mean single person don't get visa.

L1B Individual Approved after L1B Blanket Rejection
I was refused for my L1B blanket visa in NOV 2017 with the reason 'not clearly approvable'.

My company applied for L1 Individual post that in December in premium processing.
I got an RFE in January 2018. After the petition approval, I was scheduled for an interview on 7th June.

Below are the set of questions which were asked for L1B Individual.

Q) what category of visa are u applying for?

A) L1 B individual

Q) What is your specialization?

A) Explained in 1 line , the exact tool name and my role.

Q) what tool?

A) Tool name

Q) What does this tool do?

A) I answered in detail - 3 lines to specify what exactly this tool does in very simple language

Q) Have you ever been to US before?

A) Yes for tourism purpose on B2 visa

Q) How many days did u stayed there?

A) 21 days

Q) what will be your salary?

A) I asked in US? He said yes and I told about the salary.

Q) Where will you stay in the US?

A) I said the Hotel name.
He didn't understand in 1 go.
I repeated again more clearly saying it is office accommodation.
Then he understood (I stammered a bit here and got a little nervous)

Q) When was the last time you had applied for a visa?

A) I had interviewed last November for L1 b blanket visa.

He said- Your visa is approved.

Few pointers:

I had similar set of questions during my blanket visa but I hadn't prepared well and I stammered
in many questions that time. I even answered one question wrongly. I hadn't rehearsed my answers even once and had just prepared them mentally.
This time I was highly prepared and had rehearsed multiple times, almost once every day and I was prepared for each and every possible question.

Immihelp was a great source of help, I had gathered all the questions asked to individuals for blanket and individual visa both from this website itself.

Luck is a big thing but in front of the officer, confidence and preparation does matter because even if they are the same set of questions,
they could be asked in any form or language. Handling different forms of questions is only possible through great preperation.

All the best to everyone!
