Renunciation + OCI application - NY
Friends..
Just got the US Passports this week. Now getting ready to apply for the OCI card for myself and wife.
Went thru the CKGS "detailed instructions" and off-course got confused (had to double my BP medicine dosage tonight !).
Probably questions I have and help I need was discussed few years back. I did go back to look for info..could not find one. I can delete this post once I get the response.
Here are my questions,
1. Two places CKGS mention that Reunciation and OCI can be applied simultaneously (in the same packet). Again in two places and " decision tree " questions they mention that I need to apply renunciation seperatly. Once I get REN certificate then only I can apply for OCI card.
2. Anyone still carry a quick checklist for the above two applications. Just reading from your experiences ...I can do my best, but will still expect the screw up from CKGS ...LOL

OCI Renewal for minor
Hi,
My kid got a new US passport as she turned 18. I need to renew OCI. Consulate will be SFO.
Do we at any point in the process for renewing OCI need to send out the new US passport. We plan on travelling to Canada at the end of the month and dont want a situation where we dont have the current US passport because it is submitted to Indian Consulate.

OCI rejected due to name mismatch
My wife's OCI application was rejected by CKGS last december as her middle name in US citizenship certificate has extra letter compared to her Indian password. They asking for court order for name change to proceed, though we said it was typo and we didn't change name.
We later applied form 595 to( Application for Replacement Naturalization/Citizenship) to correct the name to match that of Indian password as advised during our infopass appointment.
Last week we received letter from USCIS denying our application stating the name was registered as attested during citizenship interview.
Now we are trying to find a way to address this and really appreciate, if any members has faced this kind of situation and how did they resolve it.

Dont know what to do at this time, We have bought ticket to go to India on 17th August.
Any idea or/help????

My new OCI card application has been processed in India, and has reached the Atlanta Consulate on July 11th. CKGS has still not acknowledged that it received it. How long does it typically take to get my OCI card after it has reached a consulate in US?
