Oklahoma City N-400 Process

March 2, 2019 - We received your application

I have lived in the United States for 23 years.
located in The Colony Texas.
December 2014, I went to the social security office a few days after my Marriage to change my
last name. I brought my original birth certificate, marriage license, as and my driver license to serve as formsof my identity. I was told by the social security clerk that none of the forms that I provided were valid forms thatthey could use to change my name and that they would need me to provide The Certificate of Citizenship to proceed with my request.
I was under the impression that I was an American citizen so I reached out to my estranged adoptive fatherand explained the situation. My estranged adoptive father told me that they filed the correct forms and were told that my citizenship was finalized and that I would become a citizen, as far as he knew I was a US Citizen. He told me that I had pictures and thumb prints taken for my green card; I also had physicals done with government approveddoctors. Most recently, my estranged father told me that they used Craig Miley a top lawyer in Dallas that works on Citizenship and Naturalization, to help them process my citizenship paperwork; my estranged adoptive father was not able to confirm what forms they filled out.
While on maternity leave in 2015, I decided to that I would recruit my sister to assist me in filling
out the N-600 form. My sister who is also adopted by the Washburn’s from Lebanon ran into the same issue wentshe went to change her name after being married; however, she applied for the N-600 and successfully became a citizen. Because I was on maternity leave and I was receiving checks from UNUM Insurance, I included the fee waiver form with my N-600 form. I applied on 9/14/15, the N-600 form and the fee waiver form both came back 10/16/2015; the fee waiver form was rejected despite providing the receipts from the checks, USCIS required more proof fromUNUM. I made multiple attempts to gather the information from UNUM to submit to USCIS and I was unsuccessful.
November 1, 2016 my sister and I begin the process again. We updated the information on the N-600, andcalled USCIS to confirm the fee for the N-600; when we called, we were told by the representative that the fee for the N-600 is $600, even for adoptees. The application was submitted on 2/2/16 the form and we received the rejection notice on 2/14/2016. The form was rejected because the payment was too high, so we called USCIS, the rep told us that the filing fee for adoptees is $600, we explained to the representative that we were told that it was $600 regardless if you are an adoptee or not. The rep reassured us that the filing fee for N-600 is $550; we also checked on line and verified the same information $600/$550. That same day I went and withdrew cash to give to my sister so that we could use her checking account to track confirm when the USCIS processed the payment. My
sister confirmed that the payment was processed and shortly after I received the receipt a long with the receipt# on 2/23/16.
I was very excited, finally, I was going to become Untied States Citizen. In January 9, 2017, I still hadn'treceived anything from USICIS, so I decided to follow up. It was then I learned that my application was rejected due to "In proper filing.” I was devasted and confused; after 3 attempt to file the N-600, how was this happening? The rep told me that I would need to speak with an immigration officer if I had further questions regarding my application/case. That night I received a call back from an immigration officer and I explained my situation, the officer proceeded to tell me that my case was rejected because of the payment. I was extremely upset and informed him that in the last communication I had with USCIS I was told the fee was $550 for adoptees. The officer went on to tell me that, I was given the incorrect amount and the fee for filing the N-600 is $1,170, I about fell over. I asked the officer when this took effect, the officer said on Decembers 23, 2016 USCIS increased all the filing fees. I tried to explain to the officer that we filed long before that date, the payment of $550 was accepted and that it should be honored. The officer told me that I should have verified the
information online before filing; I told the officer that didn't make any since if we filed the application with the fee before Decembers 23, 2017, the cost online would have been $550 for the adoptees. After my call with the night before with the immigration officer, I decided to follow up the very next day with USCIS for clarification. I explained the situation to the representative, the rep I spoke to said the application was not rejected because of the fee, but because it was “improperly filed” and when I receive my original application back with the check, it will have the instructions on how I need to proceed.
My original application along with my $550 check were supposed to arrive, February 8,2017, and I was supposed to follow up if I did not receive. I called USCIS on 2/7/2017, I was told to call back on the 2/9/2017 to follow up on the paperwork. I called back February 9, 2017, I spoke to an immigration officer, even though I had to repeat myself multiple times, he was a lot nicer than the previous officer. I told him that I stillndid not receive my application or check, even when I provided my tracking information he was unable to find my application, this made me sick to my stomach. The officer said he was unable to assist me further because he did not know why/how the application was filed iincorrectly, so he told me around 2/22/2017, I would receive an emailfrom USCIS to follow up with me to see if I have received my application. I didn't receive an email 2/22/2017, I received an email 3/3/2017; I received my check in the mail the week of February 27th but I still did not have the original N-600 application. I finally received my application on 3/7/17.
The rejection notice was not at all what had I expected. It stated that I had recently applied for N-600 in 6/7/07 (Iwas 15) and that it was rejected 2/25/08, and I would need to file 1-290B. The same day, I took a picture of therejection notice and sent it to my estranged adoptive father looking for an explanation. He admitted that they started the process in 2005, but he still couldn't remember what paperwork they filled out. I asked him if he received a rejection notice and told him that each time that I have submitted my forms, I have received some form notice back from USCIS is explaining why they rejected my forms; he denied receiving a rejection notice.
Anyways we ened ordering the CD that arrived in Sept 12,2017 that showed us EVERYTHING!! It showed that the did send a notice to my esrtranged adoptive parents informing them what they need to do next and the fee at the time was only $420, but they failed to do so and continued to lie! My estranged adoptive parents neglected all responsibility and failed to properly file and finalize my US
Citizenship BUT I am taking charge!!!!

I wish everyon the best of luck and many blessings on this long jorney!!

Green card expires same month/yr as my status time?
Hi my green card will expire March 2020
I applied for citizenship April 7, 2019
Biometrics completed April 29, 2019
My status is showing 10 months March 2020 the same month my Greencard is due for renewal? My field office is Indianapolis, I am concerned how close these two are, if by chance I am denied citizenship, which I do not foresee happening as I have been a lawful resident here since 1965, I am a registered nurse and have had several federal background checks for my nursing license as well as a former flight attendant for a major airline, and ave never been in trouble with the law?
Does anyone have thoughts about my concern related to time frame?
Thanks
