NBC to NYC file transfer?
My N-400 was stuck at NBC waiting for my background check to finish. Today, I went to an infopass appointment at my local field office (NYC Federal Plaza) and the officer there told me that my file has been shipped out of NBC 2 days ago.

Due to a special arrangement with USCIS, I am eligible to request a walk-in naturalization interview at an infopass appointment, but in order for me to do that I need to know when the field office will have my file at the location.

Does anyone know how long it takes for a file to get from NBC to NYC field office?

Oath ceremony -Dallas
Hi all

I did my interview on 25 April 2018 , was recommended for approval , & request a name change, my status online didn't change, still 'interview has been scheduled', did several info passes & cases ...I have been advised my case is still under final review by senior officer.

Is this normal? do you have any recommendation for me?

Thank you

Schedule For Interview - Houston
I just saw my status changed to schedule for interview.

PD date: 6/19/2017

Just curious, besides civics, reading, writing and application questions, what kind of questions are asked? My GC was employment-based.

Thanks in advance.

Los Angeles Naturalization
Hi, just wanted to share my experience.

12/13/2017: Application sent (actual eligible date: 2/23/2018)
12/16/2017: Appointment scheduled
7/5/2018: Interview scheduled
8/21/2018: Interview
8/22/2018: Oath letter noticed
9/18/2018: Oath date

Interview was very smooth, and not so many questions were asked other than civic test application related. LA process seems very fast and efficient. Hope it helps.

Houston Naturalization
Ok, I Worte long article earlier, but the awesome logic of this webpage logged me off. Which means now i have to retype everything, but in short:

Hi All,

I just got naturalized. Here is a summary of my experience, including timeline:
11/1/2017: application sent
11/3/2017: application received by USCIS
11/4/2017: biometrics scheduled
11/24/2017: biometrics appointment.

After that, my account informed me that the expected completion time was April 2019 (18 months). Just out of curiosity, I logged in again in (roughly) April 2018, and found out that my expected completion date was postponed to October 2019 (24 months). That being said, I was surprised to receive my interview notice shortly thereafter:

5/8/2018: Interview Notice received
6/12/2018: interview

The interview went great. The Immigration sOfficer was very nice (and in all of my previous encounters, they have all been nice to me). As soon as I was sworn in to tell the truth, I mentioned a couple of changes to her, including a new job and a traffic violation that I honestly forgot about when I sent the application. This was not a big issue, as I was also able to prove that I paid for the speeding ticket and also provided an offer letter from my new company.

Questions asked during the interview (honestly, you should not need this. After all, you are provided with a list of ALL potential questions prior to the interview. Besides, the plain majority of these questions is general knowledge. If you only halfway prepare yourself, you will pass easily):
reasons why early settlers came here
Who is in charge of the executive
If the president dies, who will become the next president
What is an amendment
What is one right from the first amendment
Who is chief justice

After the interview, I was told that I was 'suggested for approval'. Later on the same day, my online account showed that I was fully approved and in line for oath ceremony.

7/16/2018: received the notice for my oath
8/22/2018: oath ceremony

Right after the oath, I was able to register to vote (as everyone, including the presiding judge, was pushing all of us to do so). They divided all of us into 'color categories' when we signed in for the ceremony, and were asked to pick up our certificate only if our color has been called. Out of these 8 different clouds, my color was the 7th... I am just mentioning that because I am so patient...

We also had a chance to apply for a passport, but after seeing that the line for a passport was very long and not going anywhere, I decided to use the appointment that I scheduled at a local library for that afternoon. Instead of waiting in line for a few hours, I was in and out in a matter of a few minutes.

As a final remark: I have seen people writing that they thought their Immigration Officer 'did not know anything'. Maybe that is true, but please be aware that these immigration officers are people. I have only had very positive experiences with all of them, and understand that their predictions (ie my expected naturalization date) is only an expected date, not a definite promise. There is no need to get offensive or condescending towards them on this board.

That all being said: Good luck everybody!!!
