N-400 Los Angeles
Hi.

I submitted my application in January 2017. Had my biometrics a few weeks later and my interview in the middle of July at the Los Angeles office. I passed my English test, but the officer checked the box "USCIS will mail you a written decision about your case".

I have been waiting over a month now, and my status on my online USCIS account says "your interview was scheduled": In other words, nothing has been updated.

When I asked her how long this could take, she said I could contact them if I hadn't heard back in 120 days.

Anyone else with a similar experience? How long did it take before you heard something? And what does "USCIS will mail you a written decision about your case" exactly mean?

Thank you so much in advance.

N-400 Chicago Field Office Interview
NBC, 5 year employment based rule, Chicago Field Office filer.
PD: 09/06/2016.
FP: 10/05/2016.
Interview: 8/14/2017 (today)
Interview was scheduled for 8:30 AM at Chicago Field office. Officer came in and got me at 9:10 AM. He put under oath before offering me to sit. I gave him the Green card, all passport, driver license and interview letter as requested. He fingerprinted my left and right index finger. Then got right to history and English questions.
1. Name one branch of the government.
2. We elect the US senator for how many years.
3. If President and Vice president can no longer serve, who becomes president?
4. What did the declaration of independence do?
5. How many justices in the supreme court?
6. What does the judicial branch do?
Then he gave me a paper to read "When is the columbus day celebrated?"
I had to then write "Columbus day is celebrated in October"
After that he ask me questions from the N-400 and asked me if I was ever arrested and if I was current on my taxes.
He mentioned that I had a lot of travel in my record. It was 67 visits with total of 317 days, none of visit was over a week or two. I told him that it was due to company business and I provided him a letter from my employer acknowledging the same.
At the end he asked me to sign a few documents, asked me to proof read my name for oath documentation. He handed me a letter confirming that I passed the history and English test and I passed the interview, recommended for oath.
The interview officer was extremely nice and professional. The whole process was over in under 10 minutes.
My recommendations is to take all the documents with you to interview. I even had copies of my latest mortgage statement, pay stubs, income tax returns, passport size picture, employer letter to support out of country travel, Kids birth certificate etc. Some officers can be very difficult to deal with.

for my case, there is an enormous amount of delay between FP (Oct-2016) and interview (Aug-2017). It was a challenging period, however in April-2017, I decided to stop checking my status online. This gave me realization that I did have control over myself and that "waiting" wasn't the only worry for me.

I will give my last update to this forum when I become US citizen after my oath. Yes, I am not going to worry about oath, online status check and ask questions.
Keep the faith that things happen at the right time for everyone, you too will get your turn.
Thanks for keeping this forum alive and supporting each other.

In June I moved to Los Angeles and changed my address online and I got a confirmation letter that address was changed successfully. I just received my interview notice but the interview is scheduled to happen in NYC.
I'm confused and not sure what my next step would be.
Can someone please help me?
