H4 VISA
My husband went one tyear earlier and I stayed back. One of the rason was that I applied for passport later and then visa appointment took another 3 months.
When I went for H4 stamping I was asked why you did went along with ur husband. When I told them the same reason they said they are not satisfied and return back with another reason.

I felt that they are not interested in issuing visa to me so frustated to go again and tell them the same reason.

Visitors visa - for parent (refusal/approval)
I would like to thanks 'ImmiHelp' for their wonderful service provided through their portal at no cost.

My parents visitor visa was refused in June, 2005.

We have re applied and they were granted 10yr visa in March, 2006.

They gave very vague/irrational reasons while refusing in 2005. This time they asked almost the same questions and granted a 10 yr visitor visa.

It implies that they have to grant a finite number visitor visa's(parents visiting kids) per day/week. So try again in the event of refusal and make sure the documentation is adequate.

Thanks a lot ImmiHelp.

Emergency situation
My sis broke both herlegs in an accident and we are trying to get our mother here. I wrote to Chennai consulate stating the details, asking for a emergency date, but they refused saying they dont have dates! How can that be when the whole point of emergency is for unforseen circumstances ? So I asked them if my mother can go to Kolkatta where I saw dates in March, but Chennai hasnt replied and Kolkatta said no too. At this point I am lost. Has anyone faced this situation...i am desperately trying to write to all other consulates besides Chennai but no response. It is sad to note that even medical reasons dont seem to hold any priority and we dont even get an opportunity to present our case.

Parents got Visa....
As someone said, the Senators letter worked this time for my parents who were rejected twice. This time they attended individually. Since myself and my sister are the only siblings for my parents and we both live here in US, each of us sent papers individually, sister sent papers for my mom and myself for my dad. We got the senators letter for each of them.
But, with senators letter the consular officer will ask more questions about the strong ties back in India.
Still need to see for what period the visa is granted.
I have been following this site for all the information.
