Got 10 Years Visa for My Parents -Best Assistance by my Travel Agent in Chennai
Hi All,

This is a great experience to share our experience in this message board, First of all thanks all of them, who had contributed the messages here, as this is very useful for us to prepare the documentation, My parents have applied twice for the visa earlier, but got rejected some how, We were all tensed when they wanted to apply for third time, The appointment was June 3rd and When my parents have submitted the papers to the consular, He had given a smile and asked them

How do long do you intend to stay there in the US?
My parents have replied they needed for 3 months.

He asked are you sure?
They have Answered Yes.

After that he has just asked them to pay the visa fees at the counter, and we have received the passport after two days, And finally we got 10 year multiple entry for both of them.

We have understood finally, a good paper work will make our parents with less questions and guranteed visa.

Regards
Neeru

10 yr Multiple entry visa granted at Chennai
First of all I thank this website & all the people who post their responses here.
I am a Canadian Permanent resident & live in Toronto, Canada & I had applied for my Parents to come to Canada on a visit. As soon as they got their Canadian visa, we applied them their USA visa based on my Canadian papers. Also both my parents are above 60 so we used the drop box method. It took 2weeks and 2 days & the consulate granted my parents a 10 yr visa. I worked in USA on a H1 visa for 5 years earlier. Absolutely no questions or inquiries. Kudos to u'r site..i just followed the documentation which was provided. Though it did not make any sense to provide a I-134 from my side as i do not reside in USA. Thanks guys and keep up the good work.

Parents got 10 yr visa on 2 attempt in Mumbai
I am immensely grateful to all those who posted their experiences on this website because when my parents got rejecetd the first time around, these experience both positive and negative helped me a lot.So when my parents got 10 yrs visa in their 2 attempt,I felt obliged to post my experiences too to let people know that rejections tough as it may be are not the end and for the first timers like me .Pls know that how much ever fool proof your case might be there is always that chance that the visa could get rejected.

My parents went for their first interview(first attempt ever) at Mumbai in April. My dad has couple of years of service and my brother and grandparents still live with my parents so we didnt think anything would go wrong. We sent them all the papers and breezed through some of the ques. The biggest blunder I did was not to go through different interview questions in detail and also not check how their forms were filled and what order they had arranged the papers.the reason being I didnt wnat to freak them out and make them nervous by asking too many questions.

Ques asked first time were:
Is this you first vist?
why now? (they replied tourism)
Asked my dad about his work
Show me your financial documents.( They made a mistake here and instead showed them our financial documents)
Where do you wnat to go?(They said xyz place, to my daughters place. This again was a mistake coz they had earlier replied tourism so should have said places theyw ant to visit. But I guess in their minds their main purpose was to visit me so they didnt even think its a wrong ans)
The visa officer then said you dont even know where you want to go and rejected it.

The second time they went in May.this time around I had prepared set of ques based on this site. Also had my father get a leave approval letter from his manager though he had one from HR.We also blocked tickets coinciding with the leave dates(I know ppl say its no big deal since you can cancel it anytime but I felt it would help reinforcing that they plan to stay only for 2 months). We also prepared a new invite and counsulate letter and this time it was more personal and we made sure that it highlighted all their ties back in India.

One more change we did was,I made them arrange their papers in 3 category:
1. I-134 + invite letters.I did this because they def ask for affidavit of support and we wanted to make sure they read our letters which highlighted all ties to India, which they did and as per my parents that set the tone of their interview.
2. Supporting documents for I-134.As most ques are asked based on I-134 we clubbed all the docs proving it together
3.Whats new/Ties to India documents. This was the most imp pile and had my dads leave letter and financial assets documents
4.My documents(as my husband was sponsoring them)

The ques asked this time was:
Whats new this time? They gave the leave letter and travel dates letter from the 3 pile
Asked about my dads work
Asked for I-134 (she read our letters)
Asked purpose of visit(this time we had changed it to visiting daughter and SIL)
Asked whole load of ques abt me(DOB,where I work, position, email address)
Asked for our visa documents
Asked how long they wnat to stay(parents replied with specific dates as in the travel letter and asked her to check that letter)

Thats it..they got 10 yr visa the next day.
Its a rough process for both parents n kids here when visa gets rejected. But there is not much we can do except keep on trying.Getting visa i beleive is 50% prepartion + 50% gods grace and our luck.
I Wish everybody out there the best of luck and dont lose hope!!!

Thanks

Got visa at the 2nd attempt.
I would like to thank this website and also all the people who have posted their experiences here.
My mom attended the visa interview at Chennai consulate on may 6th and her visa was rejected under 214(b). She visited USA twice i.e., in 2000 and 2002. She extended her trip during the first visit legally. She stayed here only for 3 months during the second visit. This time (2004) we want her to come here again to spend some time with us but unfortunately her visa got rejected. She was asked the following questions during her first interview.

1. Is your husband accompany you to USA?
2. Why you have extended your stay at USA during 2000?
3. Have you received any order for the extension of visa from the consuluate if so produce the document.
4. How long you will going to stay now?

I approached several senators and they refused to give a letter of recommendation to unknown people. Finally, I approached a congressmen and explained my situation to her. She faxed a letter of recommendation to the Chennai consulate directly. Also I prepared a list of question and answers for my mom to prepare herself for the interview. She appeared for the interview on 1st June and same people who interviewed for the first time interviewed her. The interview lasted for half an hour and she was asked the same questions. The senator letter helped us a lot and her visa was approved.

My mother got 10 years VISA on 26th MAY from Chennai
Hi Everybody,

My mother attended the interview at Chennai Consulate on May 25th in TELUGU. The translator and officer seems to be very nice. I have prepared every document specified in this site. They only took the papers sent by me and looks like never asked any thing from my mother. She has some very good reasons to go back. Her mom is dependent and stays with her and she also has property to show. My sis is still in India and not willing to come here.

It looks like nothing of that counted really. On top of this she only has her passport for five years. But the VISA given was till 2014. My H1 is getting expired by OCT 2004. (SIX YEARS.)

Questions Asked:

1. Why have you not visited US for all these years of your son's stay.

They come every year and this year they could not come.

2. Will you come back after the visit( Looks like the offier was smiling while asking that)

My mom said, yes she will be returning back.

I was in tense mood before all this. I had lot of concerns like my visa getting expired by OCT 2004, shall I send this now or not, or how long they give etc...etc.

Looks like nothing matters when they get convinced by HOW, GOD only knows.

Thanks guys. All your feed back helped me and gave me some kind of comfort level. Who ever owns this site , I owe you one. pl. keep up the good work.

regards,
VR
