Graduated with PhD in Robotics Engineering, working as a postdoctoral fellow at a prestigious university. Appeared for F1 renewal on STEM OPT. Here is the timeline.
May 23: Appeared for the interview and got 221g blue sleep
July 3: Case status updated but still in AP
July 5: Received an email from the consulate to submit the passport, case status still AP
July 10: Case update date changed to 10th July but status still AP
July 11: Case status changed to Issues and also received an email from the consulate which was a reply to my previous email
July 12: Received Canada-post shipping notification with the tracking number
July 13: Picked-up the passport from the Canda-post, the visa tamp says "Clearance received on 21June". Consulate didn't send other documents collected during interview(even original I20).
Rather than wasting time with consulate, requested I20 from my Institute.

Hi All,
I have attended visa interview on 25th June 2018. Normal questions were asked by VO and he asked me to wait till he go through my LCA and client letter. After 45minutes i have been called and handed over a blue slip saying for the time being they are putting my case to administrative processing and returned my passport.
He also said that they do need any further document from me and they will contact once the decision on VISA will be taken. No need to visit again for interview.

I attended the interview on 25th , The VO asked some basic questions like where i would work , Client site or parent company and What I am going to do. He asked my resume.
Then he said this needs further Admin processing and cannot say how much time it would require and he said I dont need to come again and gave me a pink slip

My H1b was approved as consular processing when I was on F1 OPT. USCIS by mistake processed my H1b approval as CoS instead. This was rectified by the DSO from my school. I guessed that this may come up during the H1b visa interview again.
VO checked my passport and immediately cancelled my F1 visa. I think he shouldn't have cancelled it since it was not a CoS.

My H1-B amendment and extension to join a new US based company (direct employment), and my wife's H4.
- Fingerprinting: Apr 30, 2018
- Visa interview: May 29, 2018 ( there was no available date for interview before this date, had to wait 1 month between Fingerprinting and Interview :( ). After the visa interview there was no additional document required for my wife's H4, but I was handed over 221(g) pink slip asking for: (i) resume and (ii) current/future/past research+funding source+contact. I submitted these in email to the consulate on May 30th.
- May 25: Case created
- May 29: Case updated to "Administrative Processing" (AP).
- Jun 05: Case updated again to AP.
- Jul 02: Case updated again to AP. Then around noon India time, Finally got email to submit passports :)
- Jul 03: Case updated again to AP.
- Jul 05: CEAC status shows "Issued"!
- Jul 09: Got email to collect passports. Collected passports :)
End is sweet, but waiting is a very very painful journey..
