Was working in the US on OPT for the past 6 months after my PhD and came for H1B stamping.
Was asked to submit information about my research, education, current and past work experience, travel history, etc.
Anyone else in a similar boat? I see most cases are asking about information regarding employer or place of work. Not too many instances of asking about research.
Update (23/12/2019): Received an email asking me to submit my passport. "Case Last Updated" changed to 23-DEC-2019. However, still shows under administrative processing.
Update (26/12/2019): "Case last updated" changed to 26-DEC-2019. Still shows under administrative processing.
Update (30/12/2019): Shows as issued on CEAC website. Case last updated to 30-Dec-2019. However, yet to receive email/ message for passport pickup.

I had my F-1 visa renewal interview on 25th Nov 2019. I am in my 4th year of PhD in New York and I came to India to renew my visa as it expired recently. I am doing my PhD in biophysics and I was asked questions about my research and at the end of the interview the VO issued a pink slip, returned my passport and asked me to fill in a questionnaire about my research. I submitted the filled in questionnaire along with supporting docs (resume, research papers and support letter from Advisor) on the same day.
My case has been under administrative processing since 25th Nov and I received an email to submit my passport on 23rd Dec, as I did. I am assuming this is for stamping. Its 30th December now and I am still waiting to hear from the consulate to pick up the passport.
UPDATE: MY VISA HAS BEEN ISSUED ON 30TH DEC 2019.

- H1B 3rd time renewal and visiting india for stamping after 5 years.
- finger scan done on 23rd Dec 2019 at hyderabad consulate
- interview for H1 done today 26th Dec 2019
- VO asked very basic questions (work location, salary, designation)
- After typing something for couple of minutes she asked if I visited any countries other than US. I said NO.
- Then she asked if I have changed my name ever.. Again answer NO. (BTW I have a very common sur-name)
- Then she said if I am aware of my rights by pointing at pamphlet. I said yes.
- After one more minute of typing she said my case needs additional administrative processing and handed me the white slip.
- she said no other documents needed from my side and no questionnaires to fill. She kept my passport.
- When I asked her if I need to change my return flights ticket because of the 221g delays, she said the processing should not take more than a week. I hope this is positive if I trust what she said but fingers crossed.
Finally Approved!

It's been more than 60 days since my interview. Here is some background.
Oct 23 2019 - Interview
Visa officer told my visa is approved after normal questioning. There was a glitch with my company name, my approval letter ( She took a copy) had the correct company name while the portal of the visa officer showed older name (My company got merged with another company, and changed its name- It happened in 2015).
VO told that there is glitch in their system and it will get updated in a week. She said my visa is approved and i should receive my passport in a week.
Oct 31 2019- Received my passport (without visa) through bluedart at home (had opted for premium delivery)
That was the last update. No documents requested yet. Neither my employer has received any notifications. I have emailed to ustraveldocs.. same reply every time that my application is in Admin processing.Called NVC non-immigrant helpline.. was told that my application is proceeding normally and no document is requested yet

My issue is I have received a phone call from US consulate on 23/12/2019 and a lady ask me that if you fly for US before 13 January in 2020 so we send your passport I said yes I do after that I check my status on website that time is showing Ready when I came back home and check again my status is showed administrative processing again what is that mean please let me know if you have any clue
