I took the chance and went to the Social security office because I wasn’t sure if my card was gonna come or if I was going to have to go and apply. So to not wait two weeks for something that would eventually not come, I took the chance and sat two hrs at the Social security office and applied for my social security card. Friends, I’m saying this just to say, be proactive.
EAD delivered June 1
Hi,
I am writing my experience because I want to share with you guys. Do not lose faith.
* 11 March 2019, I-765 submitted to NBC (along with I-485, pending I-140)
* 11 April, biometrics appointment
* received an offer with a starting date end of August.
* 22 May, submitted through a congressman an inquiry for EAD expedite using only the offer letter
* 25 May, called USCIS, told me they did not receive any expedite request
* 25 May, submitted through the same congressman an inquiry for EAD expedite, using the offer letter, a cover letter, and a letter telling that my current job is ending son.
* 29 May, USCIS responded to my congressman that they received my inquiry (not sure which one of the two, or if both)
* 31 May, USCIS responded to my congressman "the expedite request is denied at this time as the job start date is at the end of august. Please contact us two weeks prior to the start date if the Form I-765 is not approved."
**** pretty sad and stressed, not sure if the expedite would work in the future **** *
* 6 June, got a USCIS notification "new card is being produced"
I have no idea how this happened. Maybe I was lucky? Maybe the congressman finally worked?
Just I keep that, if you insist, you will get there.
I attach you a set of lyrics, from a poem of Kavafis, that tells that the destination does not matter. What it matters, is the experiences you gain through the journey, that make us wiser.
-----------------------------------------------------
As you set out for Ithaka
hope your road is a long one,
full of adventure, full of discovery.
Laistrygonians, Cyclops,
angry Poseidon—don’t be afraid of them:
you’ll never find things like that on your way
as long as you keep your thoughts raised high,
as long as a rare excitement
stirs your spirit and your body.
Laistrygonians, Cyclops,
wild Poseidon—you won’t encounter them
unless you bring them along inside your soul,
unless your soul sets them up in front of you.

Hi everyone, this forum has helped me a lot throughout this process because I felt I was not alone.
Here is my journey:
11/30/2018 - sent my application (I-485, I-130, I-131 and I-765) to NBC
12/03/2018 - NBC received.
12/11/2018 - NBC rejected my I-765 because I sent an outdated form. I sent a new form with all the required documents again, even photos.
12/19/2018 - I received the notice that my I-765 had been received.
05/31/2019 - your case is ready to be scheduled for an interview
I am very hopeful that I will receive the notice with the date of the interview soon. This wait has been very frustrating, especially with them increasing the time to get the ead and advanced parole every month.
Anyone whose case was ready to be scheduled for an interview in May and has already received the notice with the date for the interview? or has anyone received the combo after having this update that their case is ready for an interview?
I am just trying to see if there is a pattern.
Sending positive vibes to all of us who have been in this dreadful situation.
