EAD IN HAND
I have been a loyal reader of this forum and I wanted to share my experience with everyone.

married to USC category C09
Visa type: visitors visa, overstayed for 3 years been married for almost 2 years
filing from Orlando Florida

Package sent April 4, 2018
Package received April 10, 2018
NOA April 16, 2018
RFIE: May 4, 2018 (wanted the updated tax transcript which I already sent and based on the earnings it was sufficient)
Bio May 10
Response to RFIE may 12 ( sent 12 month bank statement, tax transcript for 2017 and 2016 along with a copy of the poverty guideline and a cover letter)
Received RFIE may 17, 2018 case no longer on hold

SILENCE - iT Was deafening. I had anxiety, checked this website multiple times per day. check case state 3 times per day. I couldn't wait anymore

EXPEDITE:

called and requested expedite july 13, 2018 (based on the fact that I own my business and I was up for getting a really good contract and needed to be background checked to get the contract. if I didnt get the EAD it would lead to financial loss

expedite request assigned to officer July 16

waiting on your case file July 17

expedite request complete and mail sent July 18

received mail july 24 (I expected to be asked for evidence to support my case, however the letter just stated that they are working on my case and would get a decision soon.)

July 25 called uscis to get clarification on letter, tier 2 officer just said that they are working on my case and to be patient. I was crushed but just shook it off and kept busy with my business

out of no where July 30, case approved card in production. I freaked out wondering if it was real. kept checking status over and over. it didn't go away. okay maybe its real

August 2 we mailed your card, okay it seems like its real. I get pumped now

August 3 USPS picked up your card. Okay it definitely real

August 4 card in hand

Total like 110 days

I have it in my hand while typing still cant believe. Got the contract also. so overall win win

I know its hard especially with the processing times going up each time but dont loose hope. it will pay off in end. now to relax somewhat until I start freaking out over i485. BTW no lawyers I did the paperwork myself.

ask any questions you would like and thanks again all for sharing your experiences.

Expired EAD, waiting for STEM OPT extension and need to renew DL in CA
Hi, I am on F1 OPT but my EAD expired last week. USCIS has received my application to request for STEM OPT extension. With the lag, I'm assuming it will take another 70 days to get my new EAD. Meanwhile, my DL is expiring in September first week that I need to renew. I have valid I-20, notice of application receipt.

Could I renew my driver's license in CA while I'm waiting for the new EAD?

EAD & interview notice recieved
Hello Forum Participants:

My wife (Chinese national) and I have used this forum to estimate where we stood and are in debt to its contributors. Now, it is our turn to pay our dues. Here is our status and timeline.

C9 married to USC since 2014; residence in the Bay Area, CA; handled by NBC; no joint sponsor; no requests to expedite

02/26/2018 application received (I-130 already approved in Jan.)
04/02/2018 biometrics completed
08/01/2018 notification that interview was scheduled (date pending)
08/02/2018 notification that card is being produced (receipt pending)

Thank you to all those who have commented in the previous 5 months. I think that the aforementioned information should cover most inquiries. You may ask additional questions but may have to wait several days for a reply.

What does it mean by Case under active review.
Hey everyone, I hope you all are holding up well. Don't forget although your cases may be delayed, I believe everyone waiting will eventually receive a positive answer at the end.

Well, My case has been pending for over a year now. Both my I-485 and my I-766. (Ead & Application to register permanent residence). I'm married to USC and I came to the US on K-1 Visa (fiancee visa). I have done everything humanly possible but all I hear is wait... it's been pending for about 401 days today. Lol (I hope they're working on my Green card instead cos that would too long a wait for EAD card only).

Anyways, today, i got an email from Ombudsman service concerning the follow-up they did on my case.

Dear Sir or Madam,

Thank you for your request for case assistance. In response to our inquiry, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) indicated that your case is under active review. However, USCIS is unable to provide a specific timeframe for resolution of the case. Our office will continue to monitor USCIS’ progress on a regular basis until there is a specific action or resolution. We will contact you as soon as we receive an update from USCIS.

Please be advised that USCIS is the responsible party for moving cases forward, and the Ombudsman’s Office has no role in the adjudication process.

Please has anyone received this kind of mail before? Also, any idea on what this means? I'll really appreciate your ideas or experiences. Thank you.

GOOD NEWS! 180 automatic extension added from C33 to C09 category. Check your receipt letter!
Hi guys,

So if you were previously C33 (DACA) or fall under different category that was not eligible for 180 days automatic extension, but is renewing or applying onto ELIGIBLE category (i.e. C09...etc) then you are now eligible!!

So I was previously in DACA and my current EAD is C33 (not eligible for 180 days automatic exdtension). My current EAD will expire in September 16th ish of 2018. So I have approximately 1 more month left.

However I married a US Citizen almost 2 years ago and my renewal is now C09 category.

IF your receipt says the category you are applying for or reapplying (renewal) then it will say that you are eligible for automatic 180 days extension.

I don't have to quit or take leave on my job anymore. I am so happy. The receipt paper when you receive from USCIS stating we have received your application blah blah blah and at the bottom it will state that you are eligible for 180 days extension.

First USCIS officer was nice but second one was a total bitch. She was yelling and screaming at me ( I was really surprised that they are allowed to do that???!?) However the nice one was not helpful but the screaming lady was helpful in the 180 day automatic extension. lol odd how it turns out.

SHORT SUMMARY:

So if your current card may not be eligible but if your renewal card is in the eligible category then you are qualified for that 180 automatic extension. :D
