AOS
Hello All,

I applied for AOS (I-485) and EAD on C9 category for marriage to a US citizen.
I just wanted to share my timeline and ask for advice:

06/10: Sent my pack to MSC
06/16: Case was received
07/03: Request for initial evidence was sent
07/14: Biometrics done
07/17: Response for initial evidence received
08/21: I called for an expedite request due to a job offer
08/24: Expedite request assigned to officer
08/25: Supporting documents for expedite request was faxed and I added an eviction notice due to not paying my rent
08/27: I hit 75 days on EAD so I sent SR (I know RFI resets the clock but it wouldn't hurt to try)
08/28: Expedite request completed

No other updates so far from USCIS
I e-mailed my congressman and he replied asking for supporting documents and I sent them today.
Also, about a week ago, I called USCIS to ask if "Expedite request complete" means it was accepted or rejected and they said I should call back after 30 days for the last update.

My questions are:
1- What does expedite request mean? Is it accepted or rejected? Should I send another request?
2- The company that offered me a job wants me to start ASAP even if I don't have my papers. If I do that, will it be illegal and affect my green card application?
3- I didn't apply for I-131 Advanced Parole as I have no plans of travelling now but when I get my conditional green card, do I have to send I-131 or can I use the green card to travel abroad?

I'd really appreciate if someone answers my questions.
Good luck to all of you waiting :)

USCIS HAVING TECH DIFFICULTIES
Everyone please be advised, USCIS has some issues with their systems.
I've had a i-765 case pending for more than 150 days. Filed one SR, 2 expedite requests, called many times.
I had conflicting responses on multiple occasions. One guy told me my petition was received on 04/25 and not 4/18, one said they never received supporting evidence, one said my case was approved, one said I'll have to wait indefinitely for a response.

I'll keep everyone posted on any updates. Stay tuned.

EAD - what to do when past processing time
I wanted to share my experience - I've been waiting for an EAD (applied for it with my adjustment of status application) for over 90 days. Submitted a service request after my 75th day - no response. Managed to get an infopass appointment after my 90th day in Dallas (which is very hard to get!) only to find out that "the information on the USCIS website is incorrect" - i.e. USCIS is no longer bound to respond to the EAD application within 90 days, nor is there such thing as an interim work permit (later on I've managed to find some official documentation that confirmed the rules changed as of Jan 1st 2017 and indeed the 90 day processing time was no longer in place). The lady at the infopass office helpfully advised me that USCIS is experiencing delays and my EAD might not be ready for another 3 to 6 months. Joy.

However, I went down the congressman's route and IT WORKED. On Thursday, 7th of September 2017, I've contacted my local congressman's office. I've explained my situation and filled out a form with all my details. The very next day I got a phone call from the office confirming that a case worker is looking at my request and will be getting in touch with the USCIS on my behalf.

Today, Monday, 11th of Sept, I've received a letter in mail from the congressman's office, saying they have contacted USCIS on my behalf and that they will keep me updated. This afternoon, I've checked my case status and THE CARD IS IN PRODUCTION.

I'm beyond excited and recommend everyone who is in depths of despair because of the delays to try the same route - I went from "your card may be here in 3 to 6 months" to "card in production" within 3 days.

This has been a very effective and efficient process and I'm so grateful I've tried it.

Don't wait or listen to what USCIS says if your card is delayed - contact your congressman's office and let them help.

Good luck!

EAD PROCESSING
Hi all,

Ive been reading this forum since i started my immigration process, marriage based.
Sincerely, i was so desperate in obtaining at least my EAD, since, although im already married, my church wedding was planned for next November in Mexico.
Today, finally, i received an email from USCIS saying that they have ordered my new EAD card!!!
I got so excited about it, that i started screaming as a crazy guy!

Heres my timeline,
05/09/17 received at USCIS (I CANT TRUELY REMEMBER WHEN MY BIO APPT WAS)
05/20/17 initial evidence requested
06/16/17 Received evidence/Case ready to be scheduled
08/29/17 Raised an SR (processing time passed)
09/04/17 Asked for help to my congressman
09/11/17 Producing new EAD (I dont really know if congressman helped me)

Thanks everyone who has contributed in this forum. Thanks a lot.

70 Waiting day for EAD
I'm an international student currently working under a CPT permit. I have been "interning" with the company for over a year now, every semester with a CPT permit. I recently got married to a U.S. citizen and filed my paper work July 3rd. The company has extended a full-time offer giving me the option to collect salary and benefits while I'm still in school. I graduate in December but it would be nice to work full-time already.

Question is, is there a way to expedite EAD with a job offer in hand? I understand I can submit an Inquiry on the 75th day. Does this actually help?

If my company decided to write a letter to the immigration office would that help?

Thank you!

EAD Timeline & Advice
Below is information regarding my EAD timeline, MSC service center.

May 29: Mailed I-765 for EAD card based on marriage category c (09).
June 01: USCIS received application
June 08: I-765 Notice received
June 26 (Day 18) : Biometrics appointment
June 29 (Day 21) : Ready to schedule interview
July 13 (Day 35) : OPT card based on F1 student visa expired and I stopped working
Aug 9 (Day 62) : Contacted local congressman (didn't help much I just received a generic response).
Aug 22 (Day 75): Submitted Case inquiry with a generic message to expect a response by Sept 13th.
Sept 5 (Day 89) : My employer submitted a letter requesting for my case to be expedited based in financial hardship to the company and also as a nonprofit organization. https://www.uscis.gov/forms/expedite-criteria. Letter was submitted via the Congressman's office since they have a direct contact with USCIS. The same day I received an email from the Congressman's Office that my case will be routed for expedited processing and that I will receive a decision or notice of further action shortly.
Sept 7 (Day 91) : New card was ordered and will be mailed to address.

My suggestions based on my experience:
1. Contact you local congressman's office either before the 75th day or on the 75th day. You want your application to be brought up as many times as possible. You can try one congressman, if that doesn't work try a senator. You will have one congressman representing your District and two Senators for your State so you have 3 congressional members that can help you. Remember if you are on the path to citizenship, you are a potential voter in the future!

2. Submit an inquiry on the 75th day. Remember you are placing additional pressure to your application when you raise as many inquiries as possible.

3. If you have a great relationship with your supervisor and your employer is willing to write a letter on your behalf please please do it. I would have actually had my employer write a letter sooner that I did. Within 2 days my status changed. My service center is still processing May filers, and I am a June filer.

A little about me, I was an international student, I completed my Undergrad and then went to law school and graduated last year. I was blessed to find the love of my life in Undergrad and we got married last summer. I really want to start an immigration practice. I have been through the system as an international student and now hopefully I will be a permanent residence. Some times you have people representing your interests who have no idea what it is like to be an immigrant especially in the America that we live in today. I did not use an attorney for my process I filed everything by myself and this experience will help me to be a better advocate for my future clients.

If you do not know how to contact your local congressman, need help with figuring out if your employer can request for your case to be expedited please do not hesitate to contact me and If I can help based on my experience I would be more than willing to do so.

Good Luck and God Bless Everyone.
