I-485 interview before I-140 approved
Hi there,
is there anyone that had the interview for I485 before the I-140 got approved? I had my interview last 7/16 and my I-140 is still showing as being processed. At the end of the interview, the agent handed me a letter saying that USCIS can't provide a decision yet and my case is still being processed. I got no further update since then.
Does anyone faced similar situation?
My timeline is:
a. 05-12-2017 => I-485 I-765 and I-131 filed with USCIS
b. 06-05-2017 => biometric notice received
c. 08-28-2017 => advance parole/EAD cards approved
d. 04-16-2018 => I-485 transferred from Texas office to NSC
e. 06-15-2018 => interview notice received
f. 07-16-2018 => interview occurred

Hi, this is my timeline so far (EB3 from F1)
2/16/2018-Received date
3/15/2018-biometrics
4/03/2018- application for travel document was approved
4/04/2018-Case Was Transferred And A New Office Has Jurisdiction from Texas to NBS
4/10/2018-EAD card and Advance Parole was delivered
4/13/2018-applied for social security card
4/24/2018-Social card was delivered
6/06/2018-We are ready to schedule your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, for an interview.
6/07/2018-Interview was scheduled.

7/17/2018-interview at Newark field office (10:15am)
At 10:30am, my name was called. My interviewer asked about how long I’ve studied at my previous school and when I transferred to other (present) school. He wrote everything I said on a blank paper. He asked transcript and any documents related to the school. So, I gave him my last year transcript (I didn’t prepare recent one, but fortunately I printed one in last year for drive license just in case) and enrollment verifications (for last year too). Also, he asked about my job position, duties, my manager name, whether I’m related to my employer, if I knew where my employer lived and how could I find this job, the name of the site I found the job. I took my fingerprint and photo. He checked my address, last time I entered U.S, from where (New york-JFK).
At the end of interview, he gave me a paper to sign in. But, I didn’t read it and just signed my name. I only remembered there were 3 blank boxes in a paragraph and the interviewer wrote ∅ in all three boxes. He asked me again what my manager name is and who gave me job interview. He told me to wait for him while he made a copy of my school documents in waiting room. After 5 minutes, he called my name, returned my documents and said “ You’re all set. You can go home.”
I’m waiting for the result and any notice. I hope it’s helpful to you and wish you all the best.

How long it takes to change status after interview?
I had green card interview with my wife few days back. He asked general qs n took my supplement J n recent employment letter n said will take 30 days to receive my card. How long does it take to change status n what time of day will they update? Nerve wracking few days for me. Thanks

EB3 Green card visas are finished ?
Hey everyone,
We had an on site interview on July 17, category EB3/E13. It went well, just basic questions, the only thing I was missing the information that I've served in mandatory Military army in my country 20 years ago. So the officer quickly added that information and told it's ok. Then he told that he is pre-approving our case but unfortunately employment based green card visas are finished for this year (from July 13) and we have to wait for the new fiscal year which is October 1st.
However I've seen some people getting approved and receiving green cards having been interviewed even after July 17.
So how it's possible that in one case visas are finished and for some it's still available for the same EB3 category ?
Anyone passed interview after July 17 please share your experience.
