H1b stamping
Hi folks,

I have attended the visa interview recently. And consulate office asked me easy questions from the ds160 and I answered all of them. But he asked me about internship after my masters wether it is paid or unpaid. I never expected that question from him and I said NO. But the entire interview went well. And he put the passport with him and didn’t ask any documents from my side. Gave me a 221g white slip where he checked in first box. So is there any problem with it and does it takes long period of time to get my visa approval.

Thanks

Hi, I had interview at chennai on Aug 28 and got 221g blue slip. i have been checking the status in CEAC website but last 4 days i was not able to. It just keeps throwing error like "the code entered does not match the code being displayed" even after i enter correctly. Is this just happening to me or anyone else experiencing the same problem?

Thanks in Advance !

H1B stuck in AP due SEVIS history

I appeared for my H1B transfer visa interview on Aug 20th. This is my first stamping in india. Did my previous H1B stamping in Canada and no AP was issued. This time, after a brief interview of where did you go to school, what is your salary. I was told that my case needed additional processing related to my SEVIS history. I did my bachelors and masters from top 10 unis in US. She said it was going to be resolved within a week and my passport was kept at the consulate.

I was NOT given a 221g slip. Just a small slip that said my case needed SEVIS administrative processing and most cases are resolved in 2-3 weeks. It also said that this is not adverse to my application and that I will be contacted when it's ready for pickup.

Case last update: Sep 4 2019.

It has now been over 4 weeks and no update.

Anyone else in the same SEVIS boat? Appreciate if you could share your thoughts and experience as well.

Fresh H1B - Chennai
I would like to thank the people who are all posted their H1B interview experience. Have been watching this page continuously for more than 3 months. I have attended the interview last week at chennai counsulate.

Was standing before the yellow line at counter for more than 10 mins. Family was attended the interview before me and Vo asked so many questions to them. During that time,i just looked left and right counter. Right side interviwer looks super cool and asking questions in tamil language to 60+ aged couples. Mind got relaxed and turned left side. That VO rejected the H1b for not having end client letter. That girl looked shell shocked and didnt moved from that place for more than 2mins.

After saw that incident, became nervous. Now started to look at my counter. Family of 3 still talking to VO but VO looks unhappy and rejected their visa. She asked me to come forward.

Once in reached the place, i said Good Morning. No response from her.
Vo:Give me your passport.
Me: Hand over the passport to her.
VO: Purpose of your trip?
Me: Just opened my mouth but VO interrupted and asked my I797doc.
Shared my I797 doc to her.
Vo: Who is your End client?
Me: Share my client detials.
Vo: Show me your end client letter?
Me: Shared the photocopy of my client letter.
VO: Client letter is mandatory for h1b now. She checked and returned that doc and typed something.
VO: What is your role? Both employer and client.
Me: Shared as per LCA
VO: Business of your client?
Me: Shared the details
VO: Explain briefly about your project and resposibilities
Me:Shared the project details and my repsposibilities.
VO: Where is your client location?
Me:Shared the details
VO: What is your salary?
Me: Shared as per LCA
VO: Do you have any dependent?
Me: No

She keep on typing and gave the know your rights pamphlet.
After that She said Your visa has been(long pause)and started typing again and finally said APPROVED and gave the green slip.

Those who are all not having end client letter, try to get the mail from your client that they will provide any client letter.Otherwise it will be very difficult.

Thanks again Guyz...

H1B Approval, Case Status and Passport Pickup
Hello friends,

I had my H1B visa interview in Mumbai on September 11, 2019. Interview was straightforward. Visa officer asked basic questions about employer, salary and the University.
He said that my visa is approved and it will take 1 week for the passport to get ready.

My passport status as of today (7th business day) suggests that my passport is 'still with Consulate/ Embassy'.

My visa status was Administrative Processing for first 6 business days. It changed today (7th business day) to 'Application Received. If you already had an interview check case status in 2 business days.'

Has anyone had a similar experience? How long would it take for the passport to be ready for pick up?

Appreciate any feedback !!

Thank you !!

H-1B Stamping at Mumbai - COS L1-H1
Hello Friends,

Thanks to Immihelp Portal for providing the useful information on VISA process and VISA stamping experience. This was my first H-1B stamping experience. I was working on L1 Visa in US since last three years. My employer filed H-1B COS petition and it got approved. But, my I94 for L1 visa already got expired before my COS petition approved. So, USCIS approved petition as consular processing and I had to travel to India for my H1 stamping. I would like to share my positive experience at Mumbai consulate.

8/22 : Bio-metrics appointment

We went on time for Bio-metrics appointment. My wife was with me for her H4 stamping as well. It was completed within 15 minuets.

8/23: Interview Appointment

We reached consulate 15 mins before our appointment time. My US born son was with us. We entered the building. At the entrance, consulate employee came to us and ask us to follow her. We reached directly to the window by skipping long queue. That was the benefit for having infant with us during the interview.

VO asked us the following questions:

First we handed over our passport to him by wishing him "Good Morning Sir"

VO: By looking at our son, he asked is he US citizen?
Us: Yes
VO: Please hand over your approved petition
Me: I handed over I-797 approval notice
VO: What's your job title?
Me: Answered
VO: What's your salary?
Me: Answered
VO: How long since you married?
Us: Answered
VO: Please hand over your marriage certificate
Me: Handed over

After that, he spent some in computer. after few seconds he said, your VISA has been approved. You will receive your passports within 3-5 days.

8/27: Received the stamped passport

Good luck to all of you!!

H1b 221g at Chennai
Hi, I have attended stamping interview on Sep5th at Chennai consulate .VO asked basic questions like
End client name, Client location, Salary, End client letter, Highest
Quailification. He did not ask for verifying any of documents like i797 , LCA etc. Also I have never been to US and this is my first stamping.

I did not carry end client letter as my employer suggested it's not mandatory.

VO gave blue slip asking for end client letter and to mail the documents to mail Id mentioned id
Mentioned in blue slip.
The last words he said was your Visa is denied under 221g and returned my passports.
My question is 221g is refusal right why did he mention it as denial. Am very much worried on that.

My employer has submitted the documents on Sep9th and received an acknowledgement. Still now my case is under AP. If anyone here with same experience please let me know when will I get mail to submit my passports.

H1B Visa Stamping New Delhi Consulate
Hello,

Thanks to immihelp portal, i had gone through some positive experiences here and those were very beneficial. I wish all of you, get success with your ongoing processes. I would like to share my positive experience at New Delhi Consulate for H1 B stamping (first time).

 Biometrics - 09/11/2019
Case Created - 09/12/2019
Visa interview - 09/16/2019
Case Updated - 09/16/2019 --> Administrative Processing
Case Updated - 09/17/2019 --> Issued (3 PM)
Ready for Pick up - 09/18/2019 --> Got a notification mail

VO was a very kind and sweet lady. She asked me following questions:

Handed over my passport with a smile by wishing her "Good Morning"

What is the purpose of your visit?
Is it End Client or Employer?
Employer's work location in US?
Employer's line of business?
Salary Offered?
What is my role/designation?
What is the project/job duties?
Have you been to other work locations outside india?
How long you have been working with your employer?
Asked for the LCA and form I-129.

She checked LCA and form-129 also the supporting letter from my employer and typed something for 20-30 seconds.

Final Question: Do you know your work rights in US?

and then the final words : Congrats! Your visa is approved!!

Few Suggestions:

1. Please be there at US embassy 30-45 minutes prior to your appointment, there will be a little long queue outside the embassy's main gate and they will take the admits in 45 mins slot (If your appointment time is at 09:00 AM, you can join the queue outside the main gate from 08:15 onwards.
2. Please present yourself well, these are general questions more or less the same with every H1b Case (especially for first time H1b, may be different for any extension or f1 to h1), please asnwer them to the point and nothing more than that. If asked for the employer's business or your job duties, you can elaborate it to 2-3 lines with some good and normal technical words about the work you are going to do.
3. They will have all the information regarding your case in their system and it will be just a normal conversation if your documents are good. Just be confident and answer all the questions with a smiling happy face. They listen patiently :)
4. Read all the supporting letters from you employer/client, your role and job duties will also be there, prepare an answer of 2-3 lines using the same documents.
5. Please do not panic if somebody's visa is getting rejected, every case is different, for H1b i believe some backend work has already been completed and that is why we recieved the approval in our cases.

I wish good luck to all of you!!
