H1B Dropbox Mumbai Apri/May 2018
Hi All,
Posting my recent dropbox experience in Mumbai as it might help someone with similar experience to gauge the processing time.
My Background: Completed masters in 2013 from a well-known university. I worked as full-time employee for a well-known company from 2013 to 2017 and for another well-known company from 2017 onwards. I was on OPT from 2013 to 2015 and then on H1B from 2015 to 2018. I had an approved I-797 for H1 extension from 2018 to 2021, and since I was in India for a short trip, I wanted to get the visa extension stamp before I could re-enter US, so I applied via dropbox.
Here is the timeline:
- April 23: Submitted dropbox application
- May 02: Got an email to pick up the passport. CEAC showed Administrative processing
- May 03: Picked up the passport with a 221g asking to attend in-person interview any day of the week. No additional documents asked.
- May 07: Attended the in-person interview. I was asked questions about my masters degree - if I took any gaps/break during the masters program (which I had not). The VO looked at the masters transcript and said the visa is approved but it will take longer than usual to get the passport back and kept the passport. This vague timeline lead to some frustrating days.
- May 07: CEAC last updated date: May 07 and status is Administrative Processing
- May 09: CEAC last updated date: May 09 and status is Administrative Processing
- May 11: CEAC last updated date: May 11 and status is Administrative Processing
- May 14: CEAC last updated date: May 11 and status is Issued
- May 14: Received email to pick up passport.
It just looks like there is a general delay in the visa stamping process and a lot of dropbox applicants are called for in-person interviews. Please make sure you leave enough time for visa applications, even if it is just renewal, to avoid having to change your plans.

H1B Chennai Dropbox 2018!!!
Hi All,
I changed company X to Y in US. My X company visa got expired in Dec 2017 and my Y company transfer petition was approved till 2019.I came to chennai for personal visit and i have to got for stamping. Since my Previous visa expired within 12 months, i was eligible for dropbox. I submitted my docs in Chennai dropbox location and awaiting for stamped visa.

Today i have attended interview at Chennai for H4, VO asked couple questions about my OPT and H1-B time and also about my marriage and finally he gave blue-slip with AP check box(VO kept passport with him).

H1b stamping interview at hyd
Hi All, my interview was at 10am. I forgot to make sure I don’t have sealed envelopes so unfortunately I had to start again from the beginning. My interview was simple. 1- which company ? 2- do I work at client or employer ? 3- salary ? 4- designation ? Location of employer. That’s all and then vo said your visa is approved. And then I asked when can I come to take my passport and vo said 3 to 5 days. That’s it guys.

called for an interview on may 7th
basic questions asked about my client , pay information , if my employer is paying on time,and about my masters.
vo said that there is a little delay of 7 to 10 days in processing my case.
she said that there is nothing to worry and your case will be in administrative processing.
they kept the passport.
checked today may 12th and it is still in administrative processing
not sure how long it would take to get the passport?

Ahmedabad consulate H1b dropbox exp
Hello Everyone,
I follow this sire for a lot of reasons and tracking on some of the experiences is one of them.
So i am sharing mine, hope to help.
This is my h1b renewal + change of employer dropbox ahmedabad consulate exp
timelines:
May 1 : Documents were submitted.
May 3: case was created
May 4: went on review
May 11: Issued
Documents asked: 2 photos, I797 recent , dropbox confirmation letter, passport Old + New
Fortunately VFS wasn't crowded , i went around 1PM on a summer day , it was hot as hell outside.
Only one window was open and the lady was nice to greet and respond to your questions properly.
I was told to check the status in 2-3 days , it usually changes by then.
My take: Although my timeline may be longer compare to other experiences, I am happy as dropbox saved me money of going to Mumbai and staying there for a day and going through the pain of interview and defending your legal status again. It is definitely helpful. Anyhow, bring all of your documents with you, you never know when will you need it.

I was following this forum prior to my visa interview which had helped me tremendously to crack my visa interview. Sorry for the delay.
Me, my wife and my 10 month old kid went to India. Below are our experiences.
My interview was on March 12th (finger prints) & March 13th (Visa Interview) @ HYD consulate.
Below were the questions:
1) Who is your end client
2) Where do you live and what is your pay
3) Roles and responsibilities
4) Highest degree
5) For how long are you working for this client
Visa was approved and got my passport after 5 days.
My wife was eligible for drop box so she did not attend the interview along with me.
- We dropped her documents on March 20th at the VAC office
- Received an email from "[email protected]" on March 22nd to come for fingerprints and Visa Interview which was scheduled on April 20th 2018.
- Attended the interview on April 20 and received 221G white slip in which it was told that we need more time to process your application (AP).
->Questions Asked:-
1) Did you got transferred from F2 - H4?
2) What is your current status?
3) How long you know your Spouse?
4) Why did not you attend the interview with your spouse?
5) How old is the baby and is she a US citizen? (She tool our baby with her)
- Received email from USTravelDocs on May 7th that her passport is ready for pick up but the status in CEAC site was still AP.
- Went to collect the passport on May 7th and again they gave her another 221 G asking her for a new passport because he name on the passport was strike through.(Note that she got stamped twice in the same consulate in past, once for F2 visa and next time was for H4 visa, no problem those two times but this time they gave G221 saying "Passport is no longer Valid". VERY STRANGE)
- So currently we are planning to add my name in her passport which would give her a new passport and then drop the old and new passport in the VAC office along with the 221G document submission form.
Anyone out there with issues with passport, be careful. I personally think they are just looking for a reason(no matter how dumb that is) to delay the process.
