I had my visa interview in Chennai yesterday 11-Dec-17.lThe VO asked basic questions like who is the end client, work location, Job role, description, highest qualifications, salary. He didn’t even ask for any documents apart from passport.
At the end VO retained my passport and gave me blue form 221g with second option checked “Your application is refused for administrative processing. The application will be reconsidered when administrative processing is complete”.
He said it will take a week. EveN though my return flight is on 4-Jan-2018, I would love to get it solved by then.
Can anyone share your thoughts on this, I was shocked when he gave me that form. I really don’t know what went wrong.

Our return flight to the US is on 16 Dec 2017. We sent emails at [email protected], called up at their 24x7 IVR, unfortunately the reply was same as the online status. We were almost going to reschedule our flight tickets. Now going to pick up PP tomorrow.

H1 Denied but no decision on amendment

I am currently on CPT. On April 1st 2017 my employer filed my H1 under general quota and it was picked in the lottery. I was working for Client A Location A when my H1 was filed. Later in June I changed to new Client B New location B but same employer. In August 2017 my employer filed amendment for Change in Client B Location B.
I got Level-1 RFE on my old Petition for Client A and on Nov 24 2017 my employer responded to the RFE with supporting documents with the new Client B letters. He also submitted old Client A letters just in case.
We did not go for premium for the H1 or the amendment or the RFE.
On Dec4th 2017 the USCIS case status for old Client A is showing as Denied. We are yet to receive the documents for Denial.
My H1 amendment for New Client B still shows as “case was received on August 05/2017”.
With the above scenario, here are my questions –
1) Does it mean my H1 for 2017 is revoked and I need to file new H1 in 2018 ?
2) Is it normal this way to deny the old petition for Client A as we still have the amendment for Client B on which a decision has yet to be made by USCIS.
3) When we filed an amendment for ClientB in August, why would USCIS send us RFE for Client A.
4) Do I still have hopes to a decision on amendment for new Client B and may end up getting RFE on this one and may be get this approved?
Any help on these questions would be of great help as I have my marriage in March 2018 and Need to travel to India. If H1 is denied then I can still travel to India on my CPT and come back. If there are chances getting approved based on amendment, then I need to plan my travel as I will go for H1 stamping.

Recent H1B AP w/o 221g Criteria?

We are aware about recent H1B Administrative Processing without 221g.
My observation is as below, please comment if you agree with this and this seems like a Criteria for these extended APs-
1. F1 to H1B people are mostly affected
2. F1 at X embassy but H1B at Y embassy are mostly affected
that is, let's say F1 was approved at Chennai Embassy, but for H1B you went to Mumbai Embassy?
Perhaps their system issue is preventing them to pull your F1/history profile?

H4 visa approved but the delivery information status is blank

I have been reading the threads and I could pretty much relate to everyones experiences with their visa and passport waiting periods.
I had given my interview on the 30th of Nov and it was an off on 1, 2 and 3rd of Dec. I was told that my visa is approved on the day of my interview it was in " administrative processing" for 5 working days and it still shows that "Your passport is with the US embassy/consulate" but when I logged in on the 6 th working day (11/12/17) it changes to " delivery information status;" this has been blank and there is no information on the passport status. Its been 5 days of my marriage and my husband had to leave to the US due to his visa renewal work and I have changed my tickets 3 times as I am not sure how long it will take the passport collection or the consulate to update the delivery status.
we have been anxious for a long time now and I have read that there is a printing issue globally at the US visa centers that created a lot of delay. I would appreciate if someone could give us a rough estimate on when the status for collection of the passport will be updated and how long it might take.

Joint interview in Hyderabad. H4 admin processing concerns.
Dec 7th- Myself and my spouse went for joint interview. After interivew, VO said both of the VISA's are approved but my spouse VISA could be going for further processing. VO did not gave me any white/blue/pink slip for this. My passport was in issued status on Dec 8th itself but my wife status in CEAC shows its admin processing and still being held with embassy. Currently, my passport status shows 'passport being received from consular section and is currently processed for delivery' . How long do you guys think it would take for my passport to be delivered? and, is there anyway to contact the embassy/CEAC to know more info on my wife h4 status? will it come under 221G?(not sure since VO did not gave us any slips during the interview). Any suggestions/help is much appreciated.

H1b Visa Stamp at Dubai Consulate
I have been worried unnecessarily about my first H1b stamping in a foreign country - so thought I'd try to write a post to ease everyone's worry and questions.
1. It is possible to get your visa stamped in a foreign country (except Mexico - no TCNs there)
2. I got it stamped at the Dubai Consulate with a with the whole process done in less than 30 minutes including the fingerprints and photos and document verification. i went in early in the morning and was one of the first people at the interview. Much better than the Chennai consulate where I went for my F1 stamping where the make you wait like cattle outside in the hot sun.
3. I work as a Powertrain Engineer at Detroit, MI for a contractor at an OEM client site.
4. The VO was friendly and asked basic questions about the firm, salary and how long I've been in the US and where I graduated from - I used to be an F1 student and worked on OPT before switching to H1. She was a bit surprised I was in Dubai but I said my parents are here so that cleared that up.
5. She just asked for my I-797 and nothing else - the million document binder with all my supporting docs were hardly touched. After the short interview, she said my visa is approved and I can collect it in 3-5 business days and said to call the consulate if its delayed. I thanked her and went about my morning quite surprised at how easy it was..
Short. Sweet. And easy as pie.

H1 visa approved but didnt get passport

H1B Visa approved, but online status in AP

Ques asked: Graduated from? Masters in? Employer details, no of employees, Client name and work location, where do you stay, salary.
VO just took my I797, and said Visa approved. However the online status still shows Admin Processing, and no update yet. Passport status changed from "with US Embassy/Consulate" to "There is no status update available for the passport number submitted". Already cancelled my return, but have to report at work asap. Please advise how long does it take to get the passport.
