H1b Visa Stamp at Dubai Consulate
I have been worried unnecessarily about my first H1b stamping in a foreign country - so thought I'd try to write a post to ease everyone's worry and questions.
1. It is possible to get your visa stamped in a foreign country (except Mexico - no TCNs there)
2. I got it stamped at the Dubai Consulate with a with the whole process done in less than 30 minutes including the fingerprints and photos and document verification. i went in early in the morning and was one of the first people at the interview. Much better than the Chennai consulate where I went for my F1 stamping where the make you wait like cattle outside in the hot sun.
3. I work as a Powertrain Engineer at Detroit, MI for a contractor at an OEM client site.
4. The VO was friendly and asked basic questions about the firm, salary and how long I've been in the US and where I graduated from - I used to be an F1 student and worked on OPT before switching to H1. She was a bit surprised I was in Dubai but I said my parents are here so that cleared that up.
5. She just asked for my I-797 and nothing else - the million document binder with all my supporting docs were hardly touched. After the short interview, she said my visa is approved and I can collect it in 3-5 business days and said to call the consulate if its delayed. I thanked her and went about my morning quite surprised at how easy it was..

H1 visa approved but didnt get passport
Hello All,
I and my wife went for H1b / H4 visa interview on 5th Dec. After asking some basic questions like how long are you working with the employer and has anythign changed, she said that visa is approved . I told her that I am travelling back over the week end - on that she said that you will get your passport with visa stamped 2 days. My wife got it in 2 days but i did not. I was checking the status on us travel docs site where it says "PP is still with embassy / consulate". but today when i checked on CEAC site, it says Admin processing. I was shocked since i wasnt issued any 221g or was not asked to submit any additional documentation. I am FT with my employer and work in a sales role. Does anyone know what is going on?

H1B Visa approved, but online status in AP
Hi,
I had my H1B visa interview at Hyd Consulate on 11/22. From F1 to H1B.
Ques asked: Graduated from? Masters in? Employer details, no of employees, Client name and work location, where do you stay, salary.
VO just took my I797, and said Visa approved. However the online status still shows Admin Processing, and no update yet. Passport status changed from "with US Embassy/Consulate" to "There is no status update available for the passport number submitted". Already cancelled my return, but have to report at work asap. Please advise how long does it take to get the passport.

Mine is H1B renewal with I-140 approved and fulltime with same employer. However, my wife who went for the interview at mumbai consulate on Nov 27th got her H1B renewal approved on Dec 6th. So hoping to hear on mine as well.

Approved after 221g
I have been working full time for a fortune 500 company and have been to India on a vacation. I had my Finger Prints on November 20 and my visa Interview was on 21. Here is a summary of my interview
VO: Are you working full time for your company
Me: Yes
VO: Which City?
VO: What is your base pay?
VO: Did you do masters in US?
VO: Which University?
She then handed over a white form with case number and no option checked. At the end she mentioned your passport will be ready in two weeks
I have been following this community for the last two weeks and as someone said, It took exactly 10 working days to issue the visa. Here is a time:
December 5: Case date updated
December 6: Case updated to Issued
December 7: Collected Passport
Probably mine was issue with PIMS update, as I recently changed my employer (a couple of months back). I also read during the last two weeks there are many people thinking about coming to India for stamping and are in dilemma because of these 221g recently. Let me be clear, If you case is genuine and have all the proper documents, there shouldn't be any issues.

Attended interview at hyderabad on 5thDec and passport collected today.
Mine is visa renewal and working fulltime to client from 5 years with 140 approved. I dont have masters.
VO: Are you doctor? (This question was asked because previous guy he interviewed is doctor and he was under impression that i am also doctor.)
Me: No, i am engineer and working on H1 visa.
VO: Do you work full time to client?

VO: What is your salary?

This is the first time we are using the Dropbox interview waiver system. The rep said that our passports will be returned in 3-4 Days. Since 27 Nov our passport/visa status is “Admin Processing” last updated on 30 November 2017. Someone in this forum has posted that there has been a systems issue at the US Dept of State due to which their operations have been affected worldwide causing delays in visa issuance. While this is true, our flight to the US is on 16 Dec. Yes, we are stressed out..I have called up at the 24x7 IVR, sent emails but it’s the same status reply everywhere.
I know that a lot of people are in the same situation as we are. So please post your experiences so we know what’s going on and hopefully be able to estimate the arrival time of our passports accordingly. Thanks!

Since then it is in AP, status date is interview date.
8 dec- on ustraveldocs, passport status was showing "passport with us embessey", today it changed to "document delivery information: <blank>.
What you guys think how much it will take ? My return is Dec 17 but I guess have to reschedule.
