Hi,
H1B Interview Dec 4th in Mumbai.
Had F1 earlier, visiting from US for H1B stamping.
Passport and 797A given to VO.
Questions asked-
Where do you work?
What is highest degree?
What is position in your company? Explain in detail.
What is your annual salary anyway?
VO said this has been approved, you will receive SMS when passport is ready.
Returned 797A, kept passport.
Since Dec 4, status shown on CEAC is Administrative Processing.
I was not given a 221g. Wasn't told verbally that this maybe delayed.
Yet no update entire week :(
A friend of mine attended same visa slot on Dec 4, his VO told him that it could be 5 days. However his status got updated to Issued on Dec 5, Passport got shipped on Dec 6 and received on Dec 7!
But for me no updates :(
I am getting very nervous and anxious.
Anyone have similar experiences in Mumbai lately?
Should I be worried ?

I attended my H1B stamping interview in Delhi consulate on 6th Nov. This is F1 CPT-H1B. The lady who interviewed me asked few questions about my employer, end client and my degree. I am still working for the same end client but my employer changed. Little background on this. My employer changed my payroll from parent company(A) to sister company(B) and filed my H1B with the sister company(B).
The Lady asked me, how could I have the same end client with different employer? My answer was i changed the employer. She asked about my degree i got from the previous university and the duration of my employment. Then she issued me a 221g white slip.

Since then no update at all. I checked with my school about my SEVIS status and told that my SEVIS got terminated as i am no longer F1 and I am on H1B. I emailed my client side to see whether they received any employment verification email and they didn't receive anything. I am really anxious on what verification they are doing and how long is it going to take?
This situation is really agonizing. I was really hoping for an update this and nothing so far.

H1B Dropbox then Interview timelines
I have dropped my H1B documents @ Hyd on 27th Nov and I got an email 29th Nov saying that I need to go to consulate for Finger Print and Interview on Dec 8th. Today I have attended interview and VO said visa has approved. If anyone has similarexperience could you please let us know how long it is going to take get passport ? I have fight booked for Dec 15th early morning and any help in sharing your experience is really helpful.

I attended H4 interview today.
VO asked me the below questions.
VO : when did the marriage happen?
Me : Answered
VO :where did you meet your husband for the first time?
Me : In my relatives home, when he came to see me.
VO : 2 months back???
Me : One month back.
VO : when did you meet him for the first time ,later said 2 months back????
Me : one month back.
VO : 2 months back?(He insisted on this)(Tricky one)
Me : I said No, one month back.
VO : why did you not leave for us with your husband?
Me :I am working in an it company and i am serving notice period in the company.
VO :Which company are you working for?
Me :Answered

He did not ask for any documents.He did not even look at I797.it went very smooth.

Need suggestion
I am holding valid H1b with one employer and he is nt ready to send me because of not any projects.
Yesterday, I came to know that all his new H1-B petitions (around 25) are under RFE, and he has called one of the candidate in India that they can not proceed as they can't reply
to all of the USCICS questions. That means all H1-b are now waste.
Now, if I get a project myself through some vendor and get a client letter,
is it good to go for stamping as an employee of this employer?? ( since all new H1 are in RFE, they may put my stamping in RFE and if my employer doesn't respond the visa will be denied??)
Please provide your valuable suggestion.

I was expecting delay as most has reported here. However, I guess it's case to case basis and there is no common cause.

221G Questionnaire
Attended Interview at Hyderabad Consulate. VO asked whether I work directly for the employer or do I have a client. I have a Biotech Background:
- Highest level of Education
- Salary
- Where do I live
- Responsibilities
- Where did I do my Masters and What is my Major
Gave a 221g and told me I will receive an Email with Questionnaire. Received an Email at the end of the day that requests CV in the text format, Invitation letter and transcripts.
Questionnaire asks for Itinerary details, Research Plans etc. In addition it has check boxes in the purpose of travel section to choose whether I am on H1B or F1 or J1. However, the check doesn't really work.

H1b renewal hyd. 221 g Admin process from 4 months
Hi ,
i have submitted my h1b renewal docs in sep ,
later i was asked to come for finger print and interview and returned passport and gave 221 g . I asked VO if it is rejected, he said it is under admin processing, Have been waitning for it from 4 months, stil no update. my question is can we re apply for visit visa as my passport is with me.

Dec 7th joint stamping experience
Today, I've had my intereview done in Hyderabad. It was a joint interview, H1-B and spouse for H4, on new i797 petition. Questions started off with formal greeting-
Q. Is this your first time at consulate?
A. For a joint interview, Yes.
Q. Have you been to U.S or been on any status before?
A. Yes. been on F1 and H1B. Previous H1 extension was denied.
Q. Why?
A. Univ reasons.
Q. Why exactly Univ did not qualified for MS quota?
A. Explained honestly and stated subsequent petition has been filed and approved, which is what I'm providing currently for this interview.
Q. Highest education
A. Answered
Q. Prospective salary up on enterting to U.S
A. Answered
VO switched to my spouse
Q. Marriage date?
A. Answered
Q. Have you been on F2 while your previous stay?
A. Yes (I've added H4 conversion details to the reply)
Q. Have you done anything in violation of law during F2 (not sure what might have triggered such question)
A. No
VO ended conversation, stated that my spouse application might take couple of weeks and requires processing. He retained both of our passports and said VISA is approved for both of us. Kind of confusing as don't know exactly what additional processing might incur , given VO has not given any sort of 221g slips to us. And exact delay is unknown.
Due to my peculiar situation, I've prepared for such bullet questions before hand. And been apt, short during interview. It was a lengthy queue outside gate when arrived (only arrived before 15 mins), went in and waited for about 5 mins and called up on for security check (Post security check, they kicked me out for carrying couple of sealed envelopes and asked to re-enter the gate. wasted about 20 mins on this so make sure your envelopes/docs are all unsealed), Gave our finger prints which went about 5 mins in line. And we have been seated at waiting area for about 15 mins. Finally , the personnel gave us a token (VO desk number) and asked to stand inline with only I797, passports in hand and rest of docs to be carried in file. Altogether, the wait time depends up on the people count.
I'd like some inputs from the guys attended interview recently - Apparently, both of my passports in CEAC site is showing Admin processing. But the ustraveldocs status checker shows the passport is still with embassy. It might be too early to ask this question, but did any one had been in the same situation lately(like VO responded VISA approved, but passports held back)? How long it took for getting the Passports back with stamping? Please let me know. Also, if any one is willing to share their contact, it will be of great help and I can keep in touch on the status. I'd be checking my updates periodically and will be following up in this forum time to time.
