Confused
My fiance' and I met online almost 6 months ago. We have not yet met in person. We talk almost every day. We phone each other, Of course they are short calls because of the cost. We have talked and seen each other on the webcam. And also written letters. At first he wanted to come for a visit on a tourist visa. Now he wants to come on a work visa.He really doesn't have the money to do either. I was hoping that he would be here for the holidays and we could get married soon after. But the way it looks right now, He may not get here by the holidays next year.I am trying to help him find a sponsor here. But that isn't going well. Just so many questions and can't find answers.
Thank you for all your experiences. I am planning to go for stamping in the month of december. Meanwhile I got to know from other sites/forums that some people are getting their H1 not issued because of some DOL Investigation in the US Company ? Is there anybody who got a response from VO that due to DOL investigation we cannot issue visa ... like stuff ? Then in that case what should one do before appearing for visa interview ?
hii well i have been reading these pages from sometime and i need your help.(background).i am running my own dental lab and have received a offer from a us company who have filed my h1b since its my own company i do not have an salary stubs.how do i generate an experience letter. what kind of interview question would i have unfortunately i dont have any friends who have gone thru this process. i have also heard that we need to submit the documents to the vfs office. if somebody could throw some light on this topic would be really helpfull have my interview after close to 8days.
Hi everyone,
First of all i would like to thank to this forum, which helped a lot.It has the latest experiences which really boosts the confidence and helps a lot in getting the VISA.
Background:
I have been in US for 2yrs 11 months. Initially I landed in US through Top Indian MNC company on L1B to work for a major financial client. After 2 years, I have switched from L1B to H1B (Consulting Company, which sponsored my H1B) and the consulting company placed me at client place for another major financial firm. I went to India to get my marriage done and attended US VISA interview at Hyderabad for both H1B and H4 after my marriage.
Hyderabad consulate is really pleasent and cool.
My interview at 9:00 AM on 12th Nov 2009 and landed back in US 23rd Nov 2009.
Step 1: Main Gate Security - verified Interview appointment letter and allowed inside
Step 2: Security check - Inside the campus - verified personal things - they dont allow mobile/pagers inside, please keep it in locker/left at home itself
Step 3: VFS people verified all the DSC forms and I-797 forms and given one booklet to us.
Taken finger prints to both of us.
Note: In my case, i have made wrong Date of birth to my wife DSC forms while filling the forms online and wasn't able to update the forms online, so i have informed the same to VFS people at the counter, they have updated the forms and the system aswell.
Step 4: taken the token
Stpe 5: token number called immediately, couldn't get a chance to read the entire booklet provided by VFS people.
VO is a lady officer.
VO: Hello, GM
Me & My wife: GM, How are you doing.
VO: Good
VO: Plz handover the Docs
Me: Handed over the DSC forms & I-797 forms
VO: Verified the forms, and then said
VO: So, How long you have been working with new company
Me: 11 months
VO: How much is your salary
Me: xxxx
VO: who is your client
Me: YYYY
VO: what were you doing previously
Me: Mentioned that I was with Indian MNC worked at financial firm on L1B
VO: asked me to take the finger prints
VO: and then asked my wife to take the finger prints (probably this is to verify the finger prints taken by VFS people in Stpe 3)
VO: Have you read the booklet provided by VFS
Me: I haven't got a chance to read the complete booklet, but i read first page
VO: Have you understood
Me: I understood, its basically about our rights in US
VO: So, You understood
Me: Yes, Mam
VO: got it.
VO: then, golden words, your VISA will be couriered in a week.
Me & My wife: Thank you very much Mam, Have a nice day.
VO hasn't verify single document from us, though I have carried all the required documents.
Be confident and speak loudly and clearly with confident. They observe how confidently we are answering for the questions.
Following are questions asked while entering in US.
Port of Entry at JFK airport, New York:
Immigration officer (IO)
IO: What is the purpose of the trip

Sucessful H1 stamping @ Chennai Consulate on 23/11
This is my turn to share my experience @ Chennai Consulate yesterday (23/11)
My interview was scheduled at 10:30 am.I reached there by 10 am and joined the queue.
By 10:15 security guards asked 10:30 appointment candidates to come front.
In the first counter( near to the entrance), they checked my passport and confirmed my appointment with a seal in the appointment letter.
After security clearance,I entered inside the consulate by 10:45 am.
They directed me to stand in a queue where they are checking the H1B petitioner documents,HDFC receipt and finally taking thumb impressions.
I had some problem in matching the left and rigt thumb impression. They made me comfortable and after a bit struggle, they got it :)
The office grouped H1B petitioner docs,LCA, DS forms and Passport in to a blue folder and gave it to me.
He also handed over me a pamphlet which talks more abt rights in USA. Im done with my initial screening.
I was asked to be seated for my final interview. In another 10 mins my turn came.
my interview starts
VO: Hello Mam, how are you?
Me:I greeted him with a smile
VO:How long you are with current company
Me:--------------------------
VO:What is xxxx (new company)
Me:--------------------------
VO:Where are they located
Me:--------------------------
VO:Are you going to work at client's place or at employers place
Me:--------------------------
VO:What is the project you are going to work
Me:I just said prjt name and stopped. He was looking at me.I think he expected me to explain abt them.
I showed him a brief description abt the pjt (which is printed in the company's webiste)
VO:Have you done yours masters
Me:--------------------------
VO: Which college and whats the expansion of the degree
Me:--------------------------
VO: Have you read the pamphlet
Me:Yes I gone through
Thats it...He said you are done..We will courier your passport...Out of excitement...I smiled from brightly
and thanked him and left the consulate by 11:45am.
What I observed in this 1 hour is
1. Maintain silence when you are inside.Dont discuss or chit-chat with others.
Each and everything are noticed by VO and other officers. If somebody asks something, answer politely and calmly.
2.Make yourself comfortable.
3.Reach consulate before 15 or 30 mins of your appointment time.Though you go early, you need to wait for long time
and this will make you more nervous...because we see observe others standing in the queue and we will be contemplating(this is my personal experience)
Thats my debrief...

Hi to all i am very happy to have sucess my H1B. Today only i have done my interview. My interview was done in 3 mins only. The questions i was asked as follows:
1)where are u going to work?
A)...................
2)how much salary u will be?
A).......................
3)what is ur degree?
A)......................
4)how much exp do u have in this present company?
A).......................
Then the golden words i got from VO.
Thats it. BUt i am lucky to have only 4 questions. But i can say one thing even u have documents u should have some luck to get visa. I too have not fulfledged documents. I thought i will get query but i did not get query. Why because VO did not ask me single document.
All the best to everyone who faces the interview.
If u have any problems regarding the h1b U can mail me .
I had my visa interview on 14th October 2009 at Chennai. The Visa Officer asked me whether I was issued a H1B earlier and I replied "Yes". The point to note here is that I have not travelled on the earlier H1. He also asked about my academic qualification, total IT experience, my previous company, my role in the U.S and the client name.
I explained my role in the U.S and gave the client name as YYYY . I also mentioned that I will be working for the client from the employer ZZ office. He then asked for the I-129 and the LCA. He said everything was fine but then he wanted some more details from my employer. He gave me a letter under Section 221(g). I was a bit taken aback as I was expecting the golden words "Visa approved" unfortunately that didn't happen.
I immediately sent the contents of the letter to my employer. I received the documents and submitted them on 29th October 2009 at VFS center, Hyderabad. I was in for a pleasant surprise when I received the courier on 5th November and found my H1 visa stamped on 3rd November.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank immihelp.com for their dedicated website. Also special thanks to those people who have shared their experiences. So people who have got a letter under Section 221(g), please don't lose hope.
