Successful H1 Restamping at Mumbai
Hey all,

Not many from Mumbai share their experience so I thought of sharing my visa interview experience.

I went for my extension restamping on 1st sept at Mumbai Consulate. My previous visa was stamped at Mumbai consulate too. VO asked me only couple of questions. There were couple of ship people in front of me, before my interview.

Me: Hey, how are you?
VO: Not too bad, just busy day :)
VO: So which ship are you on? (as there were couple of ship people, he interviewed before me)
Me: No ship! I like airplanes better! :) (both of us laughed)
VO: Let me just look up of company's info here.
Me: mean while discussing football game with him :)
VO: Can I just see your one pay stub just to confirm your salary?
Me: Gave recent pay stub.
VO: It was nice meeting you. Your visa is issued and will get passport in mail :)

Hope it helps for the people who are going to mumbai consulate for h1 restamping.

Successfull H1B-1st renewal stamping at Hyderabad
Hi Guys,
First of all thanks all active members who posted their experiences, suggessions and feedbacks in this forum.
And I am sorry for posting my response a little bit late.
I and my wife appeared at the Hyderabad consulate for H1 and H4 visa interviews. I have a 2 years old kid who is a US citizen. She also came with us. My visa interview was scheduled at 8:30am on 08-13-2009. I went to the consulate at 8am.

There were very less people in the consulate, so whole process in the consulate took just 30 to 40mins.

My background: I work for a fortune 500 company (manufacturing company) as a full time employee. I joined this company just 6 months ago. Before joining this company I used to work for another big reputed company (I worked for 2years in that company). And before that I was a consultant for 6 months and I used to work for a small consulting company. I went to India to attend my brother marriage. I was holding H1 visa valid till Oct 1st 2009 and valid h1 papers and I-94 till 2012. I also had one L1 stamp on my passort.

Here are the questions that were asked by the Visa officer (american lady officer).

Me: I gave Ds-156, 157, I797 and passorts to her.

VO: She looked at my baby and asked, Is your baby an american citizen?
Me: Yes

VO: Did you go through the document (this document is about employemnet fraud and how to react/complain them in US) that was given to you in the first counter (first counter where your details are checked and entered into database)?
Me: Yes

VO: What is your company business?
Me: It is a diversified manufacturing company and it manufactures a, b,c... products.

Vo: you are into which line in those manufacturing areas?
Me: I am software engineer and I work on so and so projects

Vo: what is your salary?
Me: gave the answer

Vo: Can you give me your h1 petition papers filed by your company?
Me: Mam, do you want to see all the documents or just a LCA?
Vo: All the documents, please.
Me: gave h1 petition documents folder
Vo: she went through LCA and other pages

Vo: What do you do at this company?
Me: I work on so and so projects and explained my role (I gave very short answer)

Vo: Who is your previous employer?
Me: Answered (My previous company is also a reputed company)

Vo: your visa has been approved and you will receive your passport within a week
Me: Thank you mam

Vo: Have a good day
Me: you too mam

Interview lasted for about 9mins. We received our passports after 5 days.

Just before me there was an other guy who attended for H1 interview (not sure whether it was a renewal or new h1) in the same counter. She asked lot of questions to him. I saw at one point of time she was about to issue 221g but this guy started talking and explianed her clearly with lot of confidence. She interrupted him twice and asked some more questions in the middle. He asnwered them and he got the visa. So what I understood from this is, if you have genuine experince and have project in hand or working for a big company as a fulltime employee, then you will have no problems at all. Be confident, do not lie. Carry each and every document.

I also observed some people in the consulate wearing casual shirts and without in-shirting. I suggest to go to the inetrview wearing a full formal dress and formal shoes. You need not to wear a tie.

I had seen other people getting successfull H4 and L2 visas.

I came to US via JFK, New York on Sunday. Before going to India I went through some forums to learn about port of entry experinces. I was scared after reading some negative experinces. There was no problem at port of entry. The officer did not even ask single question. He just asked me to give finger prints that's it.

H1B Visa 2009 - Schduling Consulate Interview
Hi,
I’ve got my H1B application approved for the FY2010, the visa is valid from 01, oct 2009. I’m Indian, rightnow doing job in Singapore. I’ve received all H1B related documents from my employer. I wanted to schedule the consulate interview at Chennai, India where my H1B documents are sent for stamping. As per the agreement with my current Singapore employer I can not take casual leaves during my probationary period, till Sep-09. So i wanted to schedule the H1B interview by the second week of Oct-09.

1. Can I attend the interview by oct-09?
2. What are all the details/documents required for scheduling the interview?
3. Will there be chance for getting stamped if I attend the interview late?

It would be of great help if you can advice me for the above questions.

Thanks In Advance
Lalitha.
