Thanks a ton to this site and really i got all the information/knowledge from this site... I used to go thru alll the exp which are posted by individuals and m also thanks to them...
Well, My interview was scheduled at 12.15 pm but i reached there at 9:45am...(how that i dont know usually i used to be a late comers) but no need to go so early u can reach to consulate bfr one hour is enough...
At entrance u need to show ur pport and appointement letter so keep them outside...Then pls dont bring any electronic items like cellphone ,ipod etc.. as they will charge 100rs to keep it safe..(which is quite costly and not safe at all as outside at some shop u need to keep).. Then went inside the main building and there had a security check checking mobiles , CD, Floppies. After that I went to one counter where in they took my passport, appintement letter , DS 156(with ur photo and ur name in ur native lang) & DS157 forms, LCS and Petition and kept these docs in one BLue folder and they wil tell to wait. then they willl call your time slot then u need to go to second building. in the second building gave finger prints of our both index fingers(first left then right). after giving fingers prints we proceeded to window for interview. interview with the Officer goes like this.
Me: Good afternoon Ma'm, how are you?
VO: Very good afternoon, i am doing great, thank u. pass me ur blue folder.
Me: passed folder to her.
VO: so you going to work for ZZZ?
Me: Yes, and its IT software development comapny and outsourcing.
VO: Good. can you pass your degree certificate?
ME: passed.
VO: so you cleared ur degree in 2ZZZ. good. so currently u working with YYY, how long you working for them?
Me: from last XX yrs.
VO: which project you willl be working in US?
me: explained.
VO: do you have the same thing written in company's letter?
me: no ma'm. just now i have been allocated in this project, as i got call in last week only.
VO: okay fine. they she was seeing my consultant's website and took around 3-4 mins.
vo: when you got married ?(to my wife)
my wife: in YYYY
VO: how you met to your husband first time?
my wife: explained.
then GOLDEN WORDS (really at that time you will feel like golden words) i am issuing your visa you will get ur pport in 7 working days. and i got pport in just 2 days with visa stamp.
guys, main thing they are seeing how confiden you are as bfr me two guys got rejected (one rejected and one got 221g form). in our case really we got with GOD grace only.. and pls carry all the documents and also go thru how u filed it. you shud know which doc where u have put in ur folder...
finally dont forget to pray to GOD and get the blessings from ur parents, surely u will get the VISA.

Can anybody please tell ile dropping the required documens at VFS counter..are we supposed to drop original qualification certificates
Please advise...if anyone has an idea and what are the chances of getting visa...if VO has asked not to drop original passport in the drop box and has also said that I don't have to appear for interview again.

Hi All,
My interview held on 17th Sep 2007 and was given 221g blue. Consulate officer asked me the tax details, unemployment wage report and client letter from the employer. She also asked me to submit all the documents along with the passport using VFS drop box facility.
Informed my employer same day and he send me all the neccessary documents on 27th Sep, 2007 and submitted them on 28th Sep, 2007 at VFS chennai.
Few days later I was worried and that time it was happend to me to go through this immihelp site and found few, who are on the same boat.
Fortunately on 19th Oct, 2007 when I tracked my passport delivery it said the passport has reached VFS, please collect the same. I collected the passport on the same day and found that the passport was stamped with H1.
Thank you very much to all who share their experience which actually takes the pressure specially during the intermediate period.

Me & my wife attended H1 interview at chennai last week. Since we were carrying our children, we were allowed straight into VO.
VO was friendly and asked how long since we are married. After that she asked how did I come to know my company , my qualification, experience. She asked me if I had a client letter. I gave. She asked for project,client details. After that she started to search for something for 5 min and told me she was not able to find something. I asked her if she needed any tax details.She said no.
She took out 221(g) ticked all documents related to US company & client and asked me to drop at dropbox as she did not have time to go through the documents. She was specific not to drop my passport. She wanted verify something.
Now I am waiting for the documents.
Hope there wont be any problems.

H1 and H4 Stamped at Chennai Consulate
The interview was on 17th Oct afternoon. Because of lunch hour only few windows/counters had opened and we were in a long queue for finger prints and interview. Later within half and hour more counters opened and we were directed to a fresh queue. (The only surprise was that the interviews are held over the counter standing unlike my imagination where we would be sitting on chairs opposite the VO sipping tea/coffee).
The interview was short and sweet. No documents asked.
1) Tell me about your company (petitioner).
2) What will you be working on?
3) Who are your clients?
To my wife
1) How long have you been married?
2) How did you two meet?
3) Are you working?
Then came the golden words and she wished us a merry trip :)

My H1B visa interview was scheduled on 19th October 745AM.
At 930AM my token number was called out.
(Be careful and keep ears wide open because it so chaotic inside the consulate that you might not be able to hear your number being called therefore do not talk to anyone inside the consulate too.)
Also take care of left and right index fingers.
Ironically, the visa interview was so simple than what I had thought initially.
Me: Good Morning
VO: Your token number.
Me: Gave
VO: What's the field you will be working in?
Me: xxx
VO: What is your highest qualification?
Me: xxx
VO: In what project you will be working?
Me: xxx
VO: What would be your designation in new company?
Me: xxx
VO: What salary are they offering you?
Me: xxx
VO: In what state is your employer located?
Me: xxx
VO: Could you tell me something more about your project.
Me: xxx
VO: OK, I approve your visa. Have a nice day. Show this I797 form at port entry.
Me: (Completely astonished) Sorry, what.

I was not even asked to show a single document.
That all I would like to share.
Just be LOUD and Clear else it will irritate the officer as they will have to make you repeat your words which is waste of time for them.
Also do not fear to say "Sorry, I was not able to understand your question or was not able to hear you properly"
The only reason being you are interacting with them through a intercom system and sometimes because of their US accent it becomes difficult to pick up what they said but never make them ask you to repeat your words, so be LOUD & Clear.
